Currently our dream is to create an eco-village with a diverse group of people from all over the world. We believe diversity creates resilience. Ours is an off-grid organic farm that operates under the principles of a self-sustained old farm but using modern technologies like solar panels for energy production and irrigation systems. We are looking for long term persons that want to form a community here - THE SENSEI GIVERS. WHAT WE OFFER What we offer is a break in space and time in your life that allows you to find yourself so you can pursue an inner search. Our personal search is always inner and I would like to remember what is written in the ancient Temple of Delphi, 2500 years ago in Greece: “I warn you, whoever you are... Oh, you who wish to probe the arcanes of nature, if you do not find within yourself that which you seek, neither shall you be able to find it outside. If you ignore the excellencies of your own house, how do you intend to find other excellencies? In you is hi...

Hello beautiful people of the world! We are a small Portuguese-Russian family with a 5 year old child. We are artists, musicians, builders and gardeners doing our best to live a simple but meaningful life by creating a small piece of paradise where we can connect with nature and ourselves by living a more sustainable, resilient and conscious lifestyle. We feel that having a direct connection to our needs has a direct impact on our quality of life. Build our homes, grow our food, develop our skills and our ability to connect with others, spread love and positive energy. In short to put in practice and show an example of the vision we have for life in harmony with Mother Earth. We are blessed to be the guardians of a beautiful big piece of land in one of the wildest areas in Portugal. Half of our land is made of wild forest of Oak, Medronho, Pine and Eucalyptus. In our valley we have a great potential for agriculture and abundance of water. We take inspiration from the principles and te...

Permaculture project with idea and space to create an eco-village. Sete Fontes: The quinta is located in Alto Alentejo 2 km from Portalegre. Fifteen hectares with magical forests and a beautiful valley provided by seventeen sources and several mines with healthy water where three people live permanently: Alex, coming from healthcare, Isabel, a communication manager and Michel, a carpenter who is the founder of the project. There is also one dog, five cats, five chickens and seven sheeps. The project is now in the phase when it’s open so that more people can live here. Because parts of the ruins are ready for occupancy, there is space for people who want to stay longer, which can bring new and stronger dynamics throughout the year, not like before, when there was only a lot going on in the summer months. So far there is already a beautiful gardens going on and numerous species of plants, shrubs and trees which deliver us plenty of food. We are happy when someone shows enthusiasm for...

We are Tina and Annwen, a couple who are embarking on a new adventure in the hills of the Algarve. Having lived on the south west coast of the Algarve for over 10 years we wanted a change from the busy coast and headed for the tranquil hills of Seria da Monchique. We purchased an old overgrown fruit farm with many neglected trees such as orange, lemon, apple, kiwi, persimmon, fig, peach, pear, olive, walnut and chestnut trees, two water mines and an old ruin. The land is made up of various flat agriculture terraces and a fairly steep hillsides as is the case with many of the farms in the area. We are surrounded by nature from old cork oaks, huge butterfly's, to plentiful birdlife, seeing birds of prey is common place as is hearing the owls sing into the starlit sky. We have plentiful walking trails nearby in fact the Via Algarvania way route goes past the top of our land. Our vision: It is our vision to have a self sufficient small holding with animals, organic fruit & vegetable ...

Hi there, thanks for choosing to read our entry :)) We live on a small farm (2.5 hectares) inland of Central Portugal, 30km from the Spanish border in a beautiful wild area. From our land you can see the mountain of Monsanto (Sacred Mountain). We have 80 olive trees, 250 vines, various fruit trees and an ever-expanding vegetable garden. We are restoring the land; planting trees and digging ponds and swales. We are working towards a food forest, self-sufficiency, and money-less living. Those are our ultimate goals! Volunteers will be working on any of the land projects: digging garden beds, planting trees, watering the nursery, working in the veggie garden or helping us build because we are still in the process of creating structures. We like to use natural methods of building and work with reclaimed materials as much as possible. We are designing our property along the lines of permaculture principles. A friend recently called our life-style 'natural living'. We don't really know wh...

Everything have changed. Our reviews are about the B&B that we had in Pombal. We sold the quinta (farm), we bought a new place in Alpiarça, for our sound and light business. We were just moving in , then my husband, Richard, died. So now I have a huge building, . I am building on my own a little apartment in what used to be the shop. With help here and there I can live there. I have a lot of skills myself, but due to my age I more and more have to admit that there are limits. My goal is to make the huge workspace into something that can provide me an income. Starting with a permanent garage sale for all the stuff from our biuseness. And finally, finally, after a long life working in the music and theatre businesses, to sit down and make nice things. And doing workshops in art and tile painting. There is no garden but I am dreaming of creating a nice little patio. What I offer, your own room, with own toilet and shower. As you can see in my reviews, there were a lot of laughs in our...

We do have a small mediterrian plant nursery. Here we do need help for all the different works, e.g. clearing the ground, cutting, potting plants. We normally ask for help in the mornings, so most afternoons are free time for the helpers. As a helper you should like to spend some free time by your own and you can use our bikes to go around. Right now we need help with the plant nursery, beside keeping the pots clean, weeding and potting. And we need help in taking care of the whole plot, sometimes we also need somebody help us with painting or cleaning. The accommodation for a helper will always be together with a bathroom, depending of the time of the year, it will be a guest-room or a caravan. We do live 8 km away from the next beach and we can offer a bike to get there. Our farm is situated near Faro Airport. If you like to work outside, nature and animals and if you also can enjoy free time for yourself, please contact us. We prefer now one helper with driving license and wil...

OUR PROJECT: Im Gal and me and my 6.5 year old child are living on our small farm next to Odeceixe, a cute village in the Southwest of Portugal. Our place is located by the river of Odeceixe, 3 km outside of the village and 6 km from the Atlantic ocean. I bought the land in the spring of 2014 and I had been very busy sense! I have hosted over 100 volunteers the past years and i have had an amazing experience renovating my houses and building up the farm! We could never have done it without the help from so many wonderful and caring people, we are truly blessed! My vision is to live a quiet life in the countryside, give my son a good childhood growing up close to nature and growing as much of our own food as we can. We are practicing permaculture and we have renovated several houses built out of rammed earth. To support our selves we are renting out our self made houses for tourists. We have a garden and fruit trees to care for and some chickens. We need a bunch of strong hands and ...

Over the years we noticed a change in mentality and expectations. We feel the need to express the following; We invite people who associate with our vision and goals. Most interesting to know first how your experience/expertise or professional background can contribute to the project and lift it up. Gradually we will share our good and inspiring life on a wonderful location as well as knowledge, vision and experiences, also practice like on the go. If you would like to have a specific experience we advice you to follow a workshop for example on permaculture or natural building etc, that are also available in Portugal and in our area. “The whole is more than the sum of its parts”. We are relaxed, open-minded and see life as an ongoing learning experience. Our project was born from the idea that ‘You have to be the change that you want to see in the world’ (Ghandi) and our approach is professional, based on respect, trust and integrity. To create an economical basis to live here and to ...

We live in a beautiful small hamlet nestled in the hills of central Portugal. There are four houses which until recently lay abandoned for 60 years. The river Pera runs through the valley (with some great swimming spots) and a spring delivers our drinking water. We, Miguel and Shobha, live here with our twelve year old son, Saul, and nine year old daughter, Anaya, and are restoring part of the hamlet and reclaiming the land. We run a syntropic agriculture reforestation project and provide a retreat and workshop space. Helpers are needed for a vast array of tasks! These include landscaping, clearing, cleaning, cooking, gardening, tree-felling, pointing, dry-wall restoration, helping take care of guests when we have retreats running ... and more! Accomodation is either in tipis, domes or a self-contained room. The set up is basic but comfortable. We have a solar set up for electricity & wifi. We will also provide 3 nourishing meals. We ask for 5 hours work per day, 5 days a week, plus...

English version below...

We decided to quit the rat-race in London a few years ago and make our escape to the Portuguese countryside and work remotely! Sharlit is French, works as a Voice Over artist from our home studio, and Charlie is a British garden designer growing his knowledge of fruit bearing plants on our land here in Northern Portugal. We have recently opened up the space to accommodate other remote workers and travelling creatives, whilst learning Portuguese, counting on our very friendly neighbours to share their culture and knowledge of the land, and caring for our newest addition to the family, little Cobie, born in August 2023! Our home is nestled in a valley 30 mins away from Porto and our land backs up onto a beautiful waterfall! (makes for lovely water sounds to fall asleep to...) So far we have been getting help to refurbish some furniture, renovate spaces by sanding, painting, grouting and cementing, and doing some light building works using upcycled materials. These days we are in need of...

Bom Dia, We (Nuno & Suze and dogs, cats and chickens) live on 6 hectares of beautiful coastal land, part of which is farmed and gets visited by our local shepherd with his flock. Nuno left English academia some years ago and came home to his native Portugal seeking the quiet life. He designed and built his own wooden house overlooking the sea. Suze is Dutch and a former midwife turned researcher. Together we set up the project based on the philosophy of Alberto Caeiro (Pessoa's heteronym). We have a tree house on the land and 3 personalized caravans. Everything is right by the sea, amongst typical Portuguese pine trees. The caravans and the tree house are rented out to guests. We also have another piece of land with fruit trees and grapes. We are completely off-grid and use solar panels for electricity. Life is basic but beautiful! We ask for 4-5 flexible hours of help a day (2 days off/week). The remainder of the time is yours to spend on the beach (or otherwise) which is about 20 m...

We are a Portuguese couple, with a little girl born in July 2016, and a baby boy born in the 1st of January 2020, who lives in a small village laid abandoned for 20 years, in Central Portugal. The river Mega runs through the valley. We moved to the countryside because we wanted to be the change we wanted to see in the world. We are working on setting up a natural garden, restoring the stone house, collecting and drying herbs for teas, making natural soaps, graphic design and illustration. After a Permaculture Design Course and 1.5 year of WWOOFing (a month in Japan and the rest in Portugal, by bicycle), we embraced this adventure inspired by all the projects we met. We would love to share this experience with everyone who wants to shift life standards. We hope to inspire everyone who wants to live more close to nature and be respectful towards others. We are also implicated in saving seeds in an association. We care for what we eat. We are firm advocate of natural health, home birth ...

An old stone farmhouse and garden at the foothills of the Serra de Estrela in Central Portugal - Suzanna and Michael grow fruits, olives, root-crops, medical / culinary herbs; keep henz and bees; use log stoves and solar panels; a water mine and nearby fresh spring-water. They make wine, vinegars; breads, jams, preserves, tinctures, sauces, soaps, fermentations etc. Their focus is on health and independence. The lifestyle is challenging and rewarding. They require seasonal help with planting, harvesting, storing, processing, repair-work, house-sitting, watering, composting, mulching, fencing, maintaining equipment, etc. They offer a spacious room (21m2) with separate entrance via private patio and sun-room (15m2), kitchenette, a shared outdoor kitchen, use of a sauna; bikes /ebike/ moto. Hi everyone, welcome to our home! We are a small family consisting of Alexander, Alice and our little boy. We are dedicated to community development based on permaculture. We live in the small village of Barco, with dreams and projects that have to do with personal, spiritual and community development, and music. We are starting to gather some people around us to create a kind of community in the village. We love the music and the crafts, and the deep connection. Barco is a very quiet town, where you can take a break from the chaos of the city. The town has shops and shops to buy everything you need. There are also many natural attractions for hiking, the river and the mountains are close by. In your free time you can do sport in a dreamlike landscape! The cities of Covilhã and Fundão are 30 minutes away by car. Covilhã can also be reached by bus. In our village, there is already a permaculture community and we have realised that its principles can be used to strengthen the village a...

We can offer accommodation (bedroom - as you can see on the picture - and separate bathroom for you) and meals of course. Behind the village the mountains start, so here is a lot of nature, the beaches are 30km away. The next town (Messines) is 4km away, the next village about 1km. The main task for helpers would be gardening., cleaning and taking care of our dogs Otto and Milky. We need helpers in spring 2025. We prefer a couple or two friends, but if you are a single helper, you can contact us as well. Helpers are very welcome to our house!

The property covers 19 hectares in Alentejo, Portugal (at Moura) and has olive trees. I welcome people who are motivated, even if they have no particular skills but great energy, good health to work with earth, wood, or stone. If you want to participate, learn and discover other natural spaces. We accompany nature with respect and we wish human relations with respect in sharing.. It is not necessary to know how to plant fruit trees and take care of them because we can show you how to maintain a vegetable garden, how to take care of a farm . At the time of the fruit harvest: pears, pomegranates, almonds, table grapes, loquats, figs, I would need people who want to participate in a fruit picking and conservation project by making jams, dehydrating. From the end of November it is the season for picking olives to make oil . It is a period of great traditional activity in the region because Moura is the champion of olive oil in Portugal, it is very interesting to discover olive picking ...

Hi, I am Antonio, 45, Italian.11 years ago i radically change my life and start to travel since i root in the beautiful hills of western Algarve. I am trying my best to be a farmer, organic, sustainable and have a low footprint lifestyle. I am starting a new project from scratch, for the 6th time..., in a plot of 2,5 ha. The new amazing final place has 1 ha of flat land where must be build the new wood house, container workshop, well, carport and the new garden set up...and 1,5 ha of hill side very wild and abandoned that needs hard core cleaning.Anyhow a lot of work, very interesting to who wanna start an off-grid life! All the project is inspired on permaculture, but i am not a teacher or a a fanatic.Instead i am fanatic of recycling and restoring, give new life on object, buy as less as possible and find cheap solutions, without compromise efficiency and beauty. You are welcome with your own van/car.I have 2 friendly female dogs, if you have also a dog or pet we will figure out ca...

The nearby village (4km) soon to be connected by metro to Coimbra. They keep a cat; and they enjoy the quietness and tranquility of the countryside. Sue and Mike are a mature couple, with 25 ye...

We are Axel and Mônica (both 50). We are living in Portugal and our house with 3000 squaremeters of land is in a small village in the countryside of the beautiful Algarve.
