Always keen on new people, introverted Neurodivergent guy tho, so people especially new people are often an energy drain instead of a recharge ... When I owned my big camper-van; [which is a while ago now!], it was a real pleasure giving rides and a chance to rest to hitch-hikers and fellow travellers: I know it's great feeling when somebody stops to give you a ride! Over the years, as I've been hitching rides, I ‘lost count’ - [ & I was never counting anyway!], of all those beautiful souls who helped me out and took me in; offered me work and a meal and a place to stay. 'Strangers' who were always friends & never strangers! I always love meeting new friends & passing the time of day in conversation – you never know what you might learn, if we can learn to listen to each other. El Vagabundo by Gibran Khalil Gibran is a small book of poetry I found in one of those small, street-side kiosks in Colombia and here’s a beautiful poem to share with our fellow travelling souls… Lo encontré en las encrucijadas, un hombre que sólo llevaba una capa y un báculo, y un velo de dolor sobre el rostro. Y nos saludamos, y le dije: - Ven a mi casa y sé mi huésped. Y vino. Mi mujer y mis hijos nos encontraron en la entrada y él les sonrió, y a ellos les agradó que llegara. Después nos sentamos juntos a la mesa y nos sentimos felices con el hombre, porque en él había silencio y misterio. Y después de comer nos reunimos junto al fuego y le pregunté por sus andanzas. I’m currently traveling through America. In December, I plan to go one month to Australia before heading back to Central America. I love being in nature and enjoy all kinds of outdoor sports. Hiking and sailing are among my favorite activities. I’m the kind of person who’d rather go on adventures, camp under the stars, and chase sunsets rather than go partying and clubbing every weekend.
