We are Axel and Mônica (both 51). We are living in Portugal and our house with 3000 squaremeters of land is in a small village in the countryside of the beautiful Algarve. We are a small-scale, organic vegetable farm in Palmer, Alaska. We grow an array of beautiful produce which includes carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, zucchini, brussel sprouts, romanesco, broccoli, potatoes, rhubarb, onions, beets, and many more. If you arrive early enough at my kitchen window or even up on the jungle hill behind the cottage, you can see the sea and watch the sunrise. A 10 minute stroll down Eden Street gets you either to the CBD or to the shoreline. I am providing three basic meals per day as well as a comfortable and quiet room for your stay and to relax after our daily four hours of working together "out there", somewhere on some befitting project. We strive to live sustainably and are currently refurbishing our gardens while establishing raised bed gardens for food production. Our location is truly special—just 8 minutes from the breathtaking Dorrigo National Park, 30 minutes down the mountain to vibrant Bellingen, and a short drive to stunning beaches within 50 minutes. This is The Bright Daycare and kindergarten / pre-school. It was established in 2021. The project has two programs running together, helping the disadvantage group by providing education to children from 2 to 5 years and providing accomodations for secondary student girls from poor families coming from far away aged 12 to 18. The purpose of the project is to provide Early Childhood development together with preschool education and giving student facilities for girls coming from poor or problematic families many times both. They stays in Mafinga Iringa in Tanzania. We work with volunteers, three teachers and matrone- madame who is also a cooking chef, and the school van driver. We provide education to benefit the less fortunate children and families in their area from pre-school to elementary schools. Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. I live in Kuranda, but travel often so plenty of opportunities to see new places. I'm a beekeeper that works between Cairns and Cooktown. This time of year my work is situated north of cairns so there plenty opportunity to explore north were not alot of tourist go. The work involves collecting bee hives for honey extraction and queen bee rearing this gives us plenty of time to explore. In spare time we can go to the local Rivers (Baron Gorge), local swimming holes or hiking. Task also involve house work and gardening. The work is not hard, suits male or females and is always varied, recreational activities after work as swimming, hanging out at the beach and camping.
