Hello and welcome to our profile :). If you are reading this and have not yet read our reviews - please do so. We were very disappointed to receive the latest review which as you can see, is in total contrast to all others received over the past ten or more years. We do hope that you can look beyond this and speak with us about any concerns you may have in advance of committing to a stay here. Thank you if you are still reading. We can absolutely guarantee that we are not the kind of people that we have been made out to be, and because of this we have attempted to address all points made although we wish we had not been 'forced' to do so by one person who did not find the experience to her satisfaction. If you are not available until later, and would like to reserve a place with us please drop us a message and we will chat and try and save your preferred dates. Ideally, a minimum commitment of at least one month is necessary. It takes about 2 weeks to settle in and learn things ...

We are a cultural and arts community that is working towards being self-sustained. The community is situated in the mountains of Monchique, Portugal surrounded by nature. Our community provides an alternative way of living with permaculture gardens, farm animals, sustainability projects, and arts and cultural workshops. It is a great place to come to meet other like-minded people if you are passionate about sustainability and alternative living. We hold community meetings throughout the week alongside activities and workshops, such as quiz nights, dance nights and yoga classes. If you have something you are passionate about and want to share with others, we would love for you to run a workshop. One of the best things here is the variety of tasks you can do as a volunteer, which gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and discover what you enjoy doing most. We have a combination of short-term and long-term volunteers and on average we have between 10 to 20 volunteers and resident...

Hi beautiful people! I’m Christine, a happy spirited former language and arts teacher working across two continents. Since I retired I work in the natural health field. I live on an urban block called The Roo‘s Pouch, where I maintain a sustainable vegetable garden and created a community of nice people living with me. I live in one of the buildings on this sunny property which runs on rainwater harvesting. We avoid chlorine and contaminates by filtering, harmonizing, and energizing our own water though Ionisation. Water conservation is part of life for me. You can come to Maryborough via plane, bus or train. The Hervey Bay Airport is only 30min from my home. There are meanwhile several bus companies to choose from. If you use the train please book Maryborough town from the drop down menu. The shuttle bus from the train station in Maryborough west (20 min out of town) is free of charge if it is pre-booked. As international travelers you qualify for a concession card on Queensland tr...

Hello and welcome to our symbiotic living project. Our 20 acre hobby farm is in peaceful surrounds, with river access for swimming and water play; we are within 20 minutes of various stunning beaches, bush walks, Tairua, and Whitianga. We have 2 rescue cows, 5 sheep plus 3 new spring lambs, 2 cats, some chickens (and a rooster!) and 2 boisterous, friendly and fun German Shepherds. We are always happy to share our land with others. We are slowly transforming our farm paddocks through the addition of native and edible plantings, community garden area development, compost loos, solar shower, deck making and cottage building. We aim to create a magical space for many to benefit from and seek many hands to make light work of our various projects. We are getting ready to re-plant 🌻🌻400,000 sunflowers🌻🌻 that will bloom in January and are working on some cool builiding/planting projects to support this effort. Come spend a few days helping make a permanent mark on the farm! General farm...

ANYONE LOOKING FOR A CHALLENGE? Do you want to spend some time in the most beautiful and welcoming ( we think, as do all our helpers!) rural tiny village in Scotland. Are you practical and enthusiastic with a desire to try new things and think outside the box? ...and/or a talent or interest in woodwork, landscaping and growing your own food? do you want to try your hand at a variety of DIY jobs? Or are you good at cleaning/tidying/painting? If you aren't a native English speaker, do you want to improve your English? 2 years ago we moved into the eco house we have been self-building for the last 6 years. It is made from our own home-grown and home-processed timber in a walled garden....and insulated with hempcrete. We have completed all the major construction stages: the timber framing , the hempcrete, the roof, windows, but there is still internal work .....a bit more internal clay plastering, window sills, shelving, other bits of joinery, clay painting and conventional pa...

Kia ora, **Currently we have availability from 14th - 24th September, then from 10th October - 7th December and finally from 25th January - 2nd May, 2027** Bookings of 1 week are preferred. There is a bit less work in the garden at the moment, with slower growth but there is always weeding to do. We have a spray free, suburban garden in Ngaio, Wellington,15 mins drive from the city. For the next phase, we would love some assistance with the following tasks. *Weeding *Trimming Ivy *Cleaning/staining the fence cap *Cleaning windows *Prepping exterior window surrounds for painting *Indoor cleaning in bad weather. Obviously, the weather in Wellington in the middle of Winter is not ideal for painting. Looking out for 3-D artists to make an addition to our sculpture trail in the woods! People with interest in natural history or the arts are welcome and we like interesting food from different cultures. We are now growing more vegetables and have some Hebridean sheep and a few chickens. Springtime is preparation for the summer and tree planting. I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

We usually have 2 volunteers staying with us, each with their own bedroom. Volunteers can cover each others time off & share the tasks. We usually take volunteers out to places of interest, on a Saturday. We live as a family & enjoy many things together, with our volunteers, many of whom have become lasting friends. We live in a 4 bed modern dormer bungalow, in a beautiful village, with a shop & bus stop 3 minutes walk from the house. We live with my father, who is 89 years old and has memory loss. My father is calm & relaxed. Nurses come three times a day to look after my father, washing & dressing him, volunteers dont need to do those tasks, My father does like to have volunteers, to watch television with him, so that he’s not alone & he enjoys helping volunteers improve their English pronunciation. Volunt...

I'm Thanasis, a 45 years old greek man living in the South of the Peloponnes. I'm a farmer, with oranges trees and some olive trees. I also have a shop, mainly selling coffee that I roast on site. I need help all the year to maintain the big farm (orange and olive harvest, trees pruning, pick-up fallen oranges, and so on..) If you come, you will have your own room (1 for a couple or separate), and access to all the rest of the house (kitchen, bathroom...). I like to share the meal, and provide food if you want to cook. You also can use WI-FI connection. You could enjoy the life between the farm and the city of Skala Lakonia, wich offer a lot of coffee shop, restaurants, and any kind of stores. Minimum stay is 2 weeks, to allow time to learn about life on the farm. I need help for a maximum of 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, depending on the weather. I really like to meet new people and introduce them to Greece history. I practice karaté (three times per week) and would be happy t...

This is for those of you who plan ahead. We are full until mid August, in the middle of our best fishing season, wind permitting. Its also during what is normally our best weather. At least some of the time we should be cutting great timber from unwanted trees using a 26 inch/56cm bandsaw. So anyone who loves fishing, snorkelling on inshore reefs and is good at DIY or carpentry and loves the simple, quiet, rural life by the beach, next to the rainforest, this is for you 🤗. We appreciate help with DIY construction, repairs and maintenance, timber work, boat work, metal work repairs to trailers and for help with gardening, housekeeing, cooking, duck and chicken rearing and dog walking on the beach. Fishing, snorkelling, and rainforest walks can help occupy your spare time. We are looking for reasonably good DIY handymen and women, capable of working effectively, when necessary, on your own or as a pair and, ideally, someone who also has some gardening experience, but that is not r...

Tena koe, nau mai, haramai ki Tokomaru Bay, a small, predominately Maori seaside community on the East Coast. We live on a four acre lifestyle block in the peaceful Kaiawha Valley about a two minute drive from the village and the beach. There is a 4 Square Supermarket, a cafe and a tavern in the village. We have a room with a queen bed in a sleep out, with helpers own separate lounge/kitchenette. Access to washing machine. The bathroom is inside the main house located a few metres away. Most of the work we require is gardening, landscaping, milking cow, feeding animals, preserving food, servicing our Bed and Breakfast (List 1 Historic Places building) firewood, weed eating, mowing and general maintenance. Jan is a teacher and does some casual relieving and Bill works from home developing Te Reo Maori learning resources for our local tribe and teaches Te Reo Maori one day a week. Both of us are involved in our community, at the marae and other activities. We think 'whanau' s...

We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned 15 years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 13 and 10) with 3 dogs/chickens/guinea pigs. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area. People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Helpers stay in either a fifteen by eight foot caravan with solar power...

This is a language cafe is designed for those who are willing to meet Korean locals and the ones from overseas. We provide them with the time and the place to meet and get to know each other while have conversations in English. I know from my experience that travelling or staying in other countries is not just doing sightseeing but experiencing the real life there. Here we try to bond them together as friends. If you are looking for something that can give you a chance to meet locals and to be mingled with them, this would be the best option for you. About the program : This is about the language practice and sharing their cultures, experiences and the thoughts. As long as you are an easygoing person to talk, open-minded and fluent in English, you can join us. As we are NOT looking for English teachers, it really doesn't matter which country you're from and you don't have to teach but have a conversation in English. And basically it is a 2 way conversation so you don't have to ta...

This quaint little farm is a family home to me (Barbara), my adult daughter (Tamzin), her partner and my teenage granddaughter. We expect our helpers to be a part of our family whilst they are here. We enjoy the interaction and conversation. If you are open minded, friendly and chatty you will fit in well. This is definitely not the place to be socially awkward! I prefer people to stay for a minimum of one week, and longer if everyone is getting on well. The farm is approximately 4ha/ 10 acres, close to southern alps where some of the lord of the rings movie was filmed.. It is quiet, peaceful, lots of birdsong. We are approx 100km from Christchurch, 40km from Ashburton, 25km from Geraldine and 60km from Timaru. We embrace a variety of organic principles having chosen from many methodologies those which are best suited to this properties needs. Our animal friends are dogs, cats, chickens, calves, sheep, horses and a goat. If you suffer from allergies to animals, or don't like d...

It is made from our own home-grown and home-processed timber in a walled garden....and insulated with hempcrete. We have completed all the major construction stages: the timber framing , the hempcrete, the roof, windows, but there is still internal work .....a bit more internal clay plastering, window sills, shelving, other bits of joinery, clay painting and conventional pa...

Hello, after 20 years in construction trucks, squats and trucks, now suddenly on a piece of land, with a large house in a rural area of Germany luckily surrounded by some good people. I am always busy all around the house and it's piece of land, it's garden, some smaller and some larger construction sites are always going on, and the question never is, if there is something to do, but what exactly to do at the very moment Many things have also already been accomplished I can offer separate rooms, shared or seperate kitchen, I would love to find a person, or two, who find maybe a home in the place, too I used to have roommates but currently i live alone, i have many guests, same time, I also appreciate time on my own I love to be in touch with myself, and work according to my rhythm, capacities and desire This can make me very happy Ok Hope to hear from you Klaus
