I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

The days are starting to get longer. Looking forward to warm spring. There are plenty of signs that it is not far away. We have availability beginning of September. We are a small family: 2 teenagers, 3 dogs, 1 cat, 3 cows, sheep, ducks, geese and chickens. We live in Hira on a rural lifestyle of 4 hectors. We raise chicks and ducks for meat and eggs. We also graze sheep and cows. We pretty much grow all our own fruit and veg for seasonal eating and winter storage. Our heating is via managed woodland and solar and our water is via rain water and the River Teal. We have two properties and a pool to manage. So there is always something to do! This is the time of year when winter is on its way out so there is lots to do in the garden. There have also been some crazy storms & rainfall so there is woodland to be tidied and firewood to be managed. Other projects include: Sorting compost, Processing firewood from trees all felled ready for sorting, chipping, splitting and stacking, fenc...

Do you long to step away from the outside world for a while and immerse yourself in nature ? Then look no further as we are looking for helpers in our wee piece of Paradise at the moment ......... Our farm is 100 acres of deer-fenced land on the Otago Peninsula. The help we require is some basic garden maintenance, wood splitting, weed-eating etc. We are an animal besotted family with 2 cats and 2 dogs (please NOTE we have retired drugs dogs so if you use even occasionally, whilst we are not judging you, please don't bother offering your services !). We need helpers who are energetic, honest, fun, caring, conscientious, can get on with jobs without requiring supervision and are not glued to a device - but saying that our wifi isn't and mobile signal is often patchy!!! We are a working farm, so sorry but no pets thanks. We usually only take couples (but have had single helpers before) as you can help each other out on jobs. If you are able to use a chainsaw that would be great too...

I'm Thanasis, a 45 years old greek man living in the South of the Peloponnes. I'm a farmer, with oranges trees and some olive trees. I need help all the year to maintain the big farm (orange and olive harvest, trees pruning, pick-up fallen oranges, and so on..) If you come, you will have your own room (1 for a couple or separate), and access to all the rest of the house (kitchen, bathroom...). I like to share the meal, and provide food if you want to cook. You also can use WI-FI connection. You could enjoy the life between the farm and the city of Skala Lakonia, wich offer a lot of coffee shop, restaurants, and any kind of stores. Minimum stay is 2 weeks, to allow time to learn about life on the farm. I need help for a maximum of 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, depending on the weather. I really like to meet new people and introduce them to Greece history. I practice karaté (three times per week) and would be happy to show you basis if you are interested. If you want to discover...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to Routeburn and Greenstone tracks. You will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. A bit isolated, not for the precious, no trophy hunters!! Please don't apply unless you intend to come for a minimum stay of two weeks. One person only. We do not get involved with internships or visa applications. Vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, so you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers! Accommodation is a house bus in warmer weather or a room in the house in winter, not shared usually. Lastly I also play the guitar (badly) and sing (worse) but it's all about smile not style :-) , please don't come if you have a heavy cold or flu, I'm involved with the elderly. Cheers Al

If you love wildlife, the outdoors, great views and good food, send us an email (only emails from this site will be responded to). This is very much a cultural exchange (for us and for you) as you will be in our family home sharing our lifestyle. NO SMOKERS OR VEGETARIANS PLEASE. We prefer our helpers to stay 2 weeks or more. Work outside is a major part of what we do so expect to be outside on a rural property as part of the experience. Please message us through this platform to allow us to view your profile The property is located 60km South of Brisbane and 20km West of the Gold Coast on the upper North slope of Mt Tamborine, 320m above sea level. We are surrounded by National Parks and abundant wildlife. The property is 6Ha with a sub-tropical climate and has great country views to the North up to 140km on a clear day. We also have a tennis court (I will always give preference to tennis players who love to cook and eat great food), an outdoor cob pizza oven, chooks/ducks, two Rh...

We are looking for helpers who can help for a minimum of two weeks, but helpers who can stay a bit longer, up to six weeks or similar are preferred. This really suits helpers who are keen to learn about farming and are interested in that as part of their travels through NZ. You will have your own separate, private, peaceful accommodation, with en-suite, washing machine and kitchen with beautiful views of rural land and Tasman Bay. Wi-Fi, power and water included, plus food allowance. At present we are likely looking at availability at the end of September. You must be physically strong, hard-working, practical and fit, with plenty of stamina - as well as not being afraid of getting your hands dirty. Beautiful hill country sheep and cattle farm, with views of the sea and mountains. You must enjoy working with animals, be kind, respect and care for them. There is plenty to do all year around and depends on the season. Currently we are lambing which is always a special experience...

We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned 15 years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 13 and 10) with 3 dogs/chickens/guinea pigs. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area. People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Helpers stay in either a fifteen by eight foot caravan with solar power...

We.previously lived in Boreen Point on the Sunshine Coast where we hosted many helpers through helpx with amazing reviews over a period of 17years.. Most never wanted to leave. We have now moved and bought an equally stunning property in Far North Queensland in a small country town (Cardwell) on 3 acres 10 minutes from beach. We are located between Cairns and Townsville and just south of Mission Beach. Terry and I are not as young as we used to be and are struggling with maintaining the property. We need help for 4hours a day, with weeding, mulching, pruning and watering the gardens and general house cleaning. We back onto tropical rainforest and creek. Help around the inside of property would also be helpful. You will have your own bedroom and own bathroom (1 queen for couples and 2 queens for singles). The fridge will be stocked for you to prepare your own breakfast and lunch and we all sit together for evening meals which I will prepare. There are many stunning waterfalls and walk...

Hi, my name is Mary. I live on the border of NSW and Victoria, a town called Albury. There is a train service to Albury from Sydney about 9 hours and Melbourne about 5 hours train trip. I am happy to pick someone from the Albury railway station. Albury is a pretty town on the Hume Highway. It is inland on the Murray River and there are a lot of local attractions, vineyards, historical small towns, snow fields and many more, only a few hours drive. I am located in town, with the railway station and the airport not too far, about 15minutes drive. I am fully vaccinated and require the same of a helper. I only take Non-smokers (meaning you do not smoke at all, outside as well). Currently I am asking for 2.5hrs a day for board only. You can cook for yourselves, buy supplies locally and after cooking clean your area. I would like help with the garden and other general duties around the house, such as cleaning. If you are travelling this way, either going to Melbourne or locally and can hel...

We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. Graham has some woodworking skill but needs help during that time with various tasks and we are willing to give you a comfortable bed, good food and company and access to bathroom and washing machine in exchange for 4 hours help per day, 5 days per week. Hello! If you’re a solo traveler looking for a peaceful, safe, nature filled place to stay, we’d really love to hear from you. We currently have availability from Monday September 7th to September to September 14th and September 18th to September 25th, then from 25th October onwards. We love welcoming curious, kind, nature loving helpers into our home and creating a safe, calm, and friendly environment — especially for solo travelers who appreciate comfort and respect. 🛠️ Your Role (Flexible & Supportive) We’d like you to help us in the mornings, five flexible half days a week, starting early, with ...

Hello there, I am 40 years old and I have studied chiropractic in Wales for 4 years, I speak English, French and Italian, two years ago I got back in Sicily and I came into possession of this amazing place. The property is based in Sicily, on a promontory that faces the sea. It is an historical family house with an amazing view and a almost a tropical micro-climate. It is also possible to reach the beach by the stairs. In the first year I have used to work alone to renovate the place, and making a permaculture "EDEN" garden in a piece of family land close to home, until I discovered Helpx with which I speeded up and brought to completion several projects. We have built many, MANY synergic gardens, a green house for the winter, planted several new tropical fruit trees (mango, avocado, melarosa....) and perennials. I can accommodate 4 people in 2 apartments, that have a kitchen and bathroom facilities, I don't need help in working for the whole week, weekends are free for who will c...

My husband and I moved to this 240 acre farm in the South Burnett Region of South East Qld 2 years ago and have recently moved into a purpose built cottage (to reduce our footprint) relying on rainwater for the house and bore water for the gardens and to reduce our footprint further we have installed a composting toilet. 40 fruit trees have been planted and raised garden beds made which is the start of our edible oasis. Next on the jobs list is creating wicking beds from IBC totes and fencing the house yard for our two Jack Russell dogs. We have an old thunder box we would like to restore to make into an outdoor composting toilet (let us know if you’re handy on the tools). There’s plenty to do and learn around the farm depending on your ability and interests. Enthusiasm is a must. There’s gardening and learning about soil health, learning how to erect barbed wire and electric fencing, animal husbandry, building, cleaning and general maintenance. There’s always something different g...

There is no longer availability for September or October….so sorry I can’t offer for anyone to stay during that time. Generally my preference is short stays for experienced helpers with good reviews. Generally speaking the help I need is from people with horticultural or gardening skills and those who are happy to do house cleaning or home maintenance repair work. Retired folks welcome. I offer home-style accommodation (Queen size bed and room within the home…(no aircon only fans) and while I no long provide food other than basics (tea/coffee, milk, bread and butter and spreads)…I am happy to share food costs and create shared meals together. Also there are supermarkets nearby, plus a bakery, pizza place, a Japanese takeaway and a Thai restaurant within walking distance. Guests have unlimited inter-net connection. Also I allow flexibility for outings that require overnight stays or more than one day to visit. I am located 20-25 mins South of Cairns and while there is regular bus tr...

Looking for those who appreciate 4hrs of daily work alongside us as a fair exchange for wholesome meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner provided + seasonal fruit), your own private space, satellite Wi-fi and access to beautiful, private, natural surroundings with lots of native wildlife like wallabies and pademelons. In your free time, volunteers can go swimming, enjoy many of the hikes on and around our property (plus we adjoin 8,000ha/20,000ac of National Park) and meet/spend time with our animals, read , meditate, do yoga/fitness, satellite wifi, bird watching, platypus watching...etc. We have a lot of info on our page, mainly so we get the right people applying to volunteer here. The work is usually physical (ie no cute animal feeding - that`s in your free time if you express an interest to Claire), but we offer a very fair exchange for those motivated to contribute their 4hrs of daily work. You don`t need prior experience, but must be willing to help out. We don`t want surprises...

My name is Paul. About 17 years ago I had this slightly crazy dream of changing my life from being an office worker to becoming an alpaca farmer in the Swedish countryside. Somehow, 17 years later, here we are :) Norrängens is our 100-acre farm just outside Sala, about an hour from Stockholm. We have around 70 alpacas, plus llamas, peacocks, hens, rabbits, a turkey, my cat Sexy, the kids’ cat Vernon and Malta, our farm dog. I have three children, Liam (22), Dylan (13) and Oscar (10). Liam has grown up and moved away from home. Dylan and Oscar live between me and their mum, although sometimes they seem to spend more time here :) When they’re here they’re part of farm life and help out when they can. This is our home and our little family as well as being a farm. Things are quite different here from a few years ago. We used to run a much bigger and busier tourism operation. These days things are smaller and quieter. The economy has been a bit of a struggle, if I’m honest, and this y...

From september 2026, we would love the help of someone who is good with trees, there is a lot of tree trimming to do one the property, a lot of which involves climbing. This goes along with wood chopping and moving around for storage. We are a warm and welcoming family living in the beautiful countryside of Gironde, France. Our home is full of life – we have three wonderful children, five horses, five friendly sheep, and three playful dogs. We love sharing our way of life with travelers who enjoy nature, animals, and family spirit. There is always something happening here – from planting trees to making the many renovation projects for the property cole to life, to simply enjoying good food and conversations together. If you like open spaces, peaceful landscapes, the company of both people and animals and if you have a thing for garden workout (gardening that involves a lot of muscle and moving a lot of wheelbarrows around ;) ) you will feel at home with us.

I'm Thanasis, a 45 years old greek man living in the South of the Peloponnes. I'm a farmer, with oranges trees and some olive trees. I need help all the year to maintain the big farm (orange and olive harvest, trees pruning, pick-up fallen oranges, and so on..) Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to Routeburn and Greenstone tracks. Cheers Al

Help around the inside of property would also be helpful. You will have your own bedroom and own bathroom (1 queen for couples and 2 queens for singles).

We pause hosting from December to February because the heat and humidity make outdoor work uncomfortable — focusing on the cooler months means your stay is far more enjoyable, relaxed, and productive. 🌱 Who We Are We’re Craig and Yvonne, easy going retirees in our late sixties who’ve built our dream life on a forested acreage (not a farm) overlooking Wallis Lake and the Pacific Ocean.
