Guildford is home to one of Victoria's largest river red gums. It is over 500 years old. It's a very small town with only a general store, primary school & pub, half way between Castlemaine & Daylesford. We have been on this land for 1 and a half years & have started using permaculture principals & design. So far, we have completed the fence line, (to keep the rabbits out) & joyously have begun some planting both in the food forest, cottage garden & in the veggie patch. Our organic mountain farm (800 m above sea level) 50 km south of Grenoble is located in the Vercors Regional Park in the Alps. Our main activity is horse breeding on 150 ha and 300 ha of mountain pastures. The Trieves plateau is sought after for its wide open spaces and unspoiled tranquility. We raise Mérens (a hardy mountain breed: Mérens ), ponies, and a few donkeys. In the summer, we visit our two mountain pastures located between 1,300 m and 2,200 m above sea level, both for the pleasure of hiking and to keep an eye on the main herd of horses, in addition to haying, harvesting, and caring for the animals that remain on the farm.
