Currently seeking one or two people keen to help with various building projects, firewood preparation, vegetable gardening, and general property maintenance. The ideal HelpXer(s) would have skills and experience with one or more of the above tasks, be willing and able to work independently, and thrive on living lightly in the bush and creative problem solving. The permaculture project and the Farm develop in the social, historical and urban fabric of the town of Modica (RG), mainly between the Fontana, Dente and Pennino districts. We actively collaborate with other projects in the province, from which we learn a lot. We live a sober, frugal, healthy life. We follow, in a somewhat radical way, the ethics of Permaculture and many of its principles. After a period of training in horticulture and spiritual reconnection in the Loire in a Sōtō Zen temple, a PDC at Il Filo di Paglia (Comiso) and two years of agricultural experiences of the most varied in south-eastern Sicily, we feel ready to open ourselves to volunteers , willing and passionate who want to live, share and exchange within in this vibrant and beautiful setting. The Mediterranean Sea is just 20 minutes by train (Sampieri train station). We've got a 17th century house for the project (Oct. 2022), quite abandoned for more than one year: Plenty of work has been already done, some mino...

Hello! We are Charlotte (USA) and Christian (Ecuador), and we have an Ecoculturual Finca outside of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Ecuador. The Finca is about 8 hectares of hilly jungle, filled with cacao, banana, avocado, papaya, coffee, bamboo, sugar cane, and other tropical fruit trees. Christian started this project in 2012 to create a community of people who want to live consciously and in harmony with the natural world. We believe sustainability has an environmental component (we eat vegetarian, use composting toilets, minimize waste, use resources we have on the finca, etc), but that it also has a cultural component; infusing art, cultural exchange, genuine connection, music, inter-generational sharing, and creative problem solving into daily life is important to living sustainably! The hope is that by starting small, by living well on the finca, we can spread an environmental consciousness to our surrounding community, and hopefully beyond. Accommodations: Volunteers stay in ...

We are in the process of renovating an old house in the Pyrenees. We live in a small village with some shops and a climbing centre and a river just opposite the house. We have a quite a size garden where we grow vegetables and fruit bushes and trees. Here, we have spectacular mountain views on our doorstep, hiking trails through the mountains and forests, cycling paths, and skiing in the winter months. We love company of other people, and love having visitors. There would be plenty of chances to be alone, if that is what one is looking for. We are both retired teachers that would be happy to help you improve your knowledge of English. We offer homestay experience. We can lend you a bicycle to do your own exploring, you can hike, take a bus or train to go further afield. We also like to explore the area and show it to our visitors. We are located 10km from Spain. We have fibre internet. We would cook together or take turns (so make sure you can cook some interesting vegetarian dish...

AUTUMN 24 APRIL 2024 Kia Ora, HelpX Family! SHORT DESCRIPTION We currently have urgent fencing work due to damage created by tree trimming machinery and coastal erosion. Help with routine jobs (below) allows us to address this urgent work. If you would like to help us, please let us know of our work that interests you and your dietary requirements or preferences. Our activities are strip grazing cattle, lawnmowing, mulching, building soil, planting out seedlings and harvesting. Mulch provides moisture retention for dry summer periods and also feeds the soil biology. We have materials together for a 'hot compost' and building it up for more soil, especially in autumn and winter. Pasture renewal, fencing repairs, transplanting, wood cutting and splitting and making biochar fills our time while the gardening season is fully active and lawnmowing takes precedence. We have a number of carpentry projects that also require work as time permits. PERMACULTURE PROJECTS Large wood chip piles...

(Note for U4U applicants -- we cannot sponsor any refugees from Ukraine at this time, but we are happy to host you if someone else can sponsor you.) ~Our Place~ We live on a beautiful piece of land in rural Texas, full of lush green hills, towering pines, oak savannahs, and wild animals, about 1 hour's drive from Austin. Our goal is to build a community out here, starting from our extended family and friend group and beyond. We've traveled the world volunteering with Workaway, hitchhiking, Couchsurfing, playing music in bands, farming, building, protesting, yogaing, truck-driving, teaching... all kinds of things. Now, we're trying to restore this piece of land to a more balanced state and to build a home, a farm, an apiary, a studio... We want this to be a communal place that fosters creativity, closeness to nature, silence, loudness, peace, chaos, etc.! And we've hosted volunteers from Colombia, Iran, Canada, China, Mexico, Iraq, USA, Korea, Norway, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germa...

Or you can sleep in your own van or we have tents (and we have plenty of comfortable mattresses and bedding so no worries about being comfortable). We generally appreciate help in the gardens and around the house with general maintenance, firewood collecting, raking, painting, weeding, feeding chickens etc. Work is flexible and we build a list and you can choose what you want to do. Really happy for people to choose between general garden maintenance and household duties suppor...

Hey there, we are Josh and Kristen! We’re in our 30’s and have four kids, ages 9,7,4 and 2! We homeschool our children and stay busy! We have a bedroom with its own bathroom on the lower level of our home! We would love for someone to come and be an extra set of hands for our four young children who we homeschool! We’d love someone who could become like another family member. We have a loving family, and would love someone warm who would work well with us! We would love to have someone who would like to spend a couple of months with us, but are open to shorter stays! We live at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about an hour away from Atlanta! There are lots of hiking, tubing and other river adventures nearby. We also have several adorable towns that are fun to walk around and shop and eat! We are close to Chattanooga TN which is a fun city to explore! Feel free to reach out if you want to chat more! *we currently have help coming from June-September. We are open to Fall he...

Let me introduce myself: Olivier, born in Haute Corse in Bastia. I have done a lot of things in my life. Deckhand in the merchant marina, alarm system installer, farmer, restaurateur. These last 20 years have been dedicated to Music. I created and managed a music store 20 years ago, then closed the establishment at the start of covid. Why, what happened??? I came back to live at home by the sea during the two-month period of isolation, and I couldn't leave, except to close the store... two months! I also took advantage of these 20 years to take an interest in various things such as quantum physics, traditional Chinese medicine, hypnosis and of course NLP (neuro linguistic programming). The reference person for me in quantum physics is Gregg Braden. I have read and studied many of his books, listened to online lectures, and sincerely recommend him. We should teach these things at school ;) I love animals. Here you will meet Tex, born on 21/12/2021. He was abandoned when he was only a fe...

I have a nice house up the coast from Thames, at the gateway to the Coromandel penninsula, 2 minutes from the beach, and near to great bush walks and fishing. I am a lover of music, people and society, with a view to developing solutions to sustain happiness and create harmonious living, and enjoy hosting people. I have traveled, wwoofed, and worked around NZ, and am happy to point you in the right direction on your journey through our gorgeous country. There is a sleepout that has a double bed, good for a couple, and also a single room with a very comfy bed, the beach is very close, and there are a couple of kayaks here you are welcome to borrow. Most help needed will be light, some simple gardening, cleaning, and help with path building.

We (Riley, Serene and Bood) enjoy living in harmony with nature and each other. This is a beautiful property high in the hills above Cairns, that borders World Heritage rain forest wilderness on three sides, and enjoys breathtaking views over the Atherton Tableland. There are permanent creeks, waterfalls, rock pools (for swimming) and a very pleasant climate, without the high humidity that the coast can experience (in summer). Abundant wildlife including tree kangaroos, possums, platypus and hundreds of bird species. We enjoy hiking and exploring far north Queensland. The property practices holistic management, organics and permaculture principles. Work is mostly gardening, orchard and household duties. Most happy to utilise your unique skills and gifts, where possible. We like to take turns cooking meals, encourage food literacy (from garden to plate), and greater awareness of self-sufficiency. Accommodation for one or two helpers, in our beautiful circular stone and timber hom...

We live on a beautiful hill surrounded by ancient oaks, a large olive grove, orchard, forest and fields. I practice natural agriculture, inspired by various schools and experimenting. I apply natural farming by drawing inspiration from various schools and experimenting. Rotating in the fields, I grow grain mixes of old varieties, spelt, chickpeas, green manure, melliferous and forage grasses. I sell my products to friends, acquaintances and buying groups. I use an old caterpillar tractor. I plant a vegetable garden for self-consumption and out of passion, learning something new every year. I am inspired by Permaculture concepts and a subsistence economy. My great passion is trees, both fruit and ornamental, which I have in different varieties and never tire of planting. I raise homegrown hens by selecting the most hatch-inspired mothers, who are generous in giving eggs and also meat. For this I give thanks. I live here with Laura (39 anni) and with Tao, age 13 who is here on and off ...

Our 20 acre heritage-listed bush block borders on the beautiful Onkaparinga River (great for swimming!) in the Adelaide Hills, & is home to lots of kangaroos, koalas, possums, birds, etc. We have chickens, vegetable gardens & an orchard. We live in an owner-built passive-solar strawbale house that's completely off-grid. Accommodation is in an old caravan or possibly tent/cabins. We eat wholesome, largely organic food. We can accommodate GF and veg but not vegan. Ben is a 50yo Migration Agent and owner-builder passionate about sustainability, spiritual growth, and working with like-minded people to build this community into an ...

*Update - Autumn - April-June. We currently have a lot of projects on at the moment so there is a wide selection of tasks to choose from. Work includes gardening projects, feeding chickens, mowing, brush cutting, household chores and upgrading the chicken pen and organising work spaces. **Accommodation is either in a detached house in the forest (up a steep hill from the main house) There are two separate bedrooms up there and our 17-year-old son sleeps in one bedroom and you will have the other bedroom. Or you can sleep in your own van or we have tents (and we have plenty of comfortable mattresses and bedding so no worries about being comfortable).

A chance to enjoy the beautiful Outer Hebrides! Our house in Sollas, on the northwest coast of North Uist, has plenty of room and is the ideal base for you to explore the islands. Minutes from the beach, moorlands and lochs, we have lots of wonderful places to discover. You will have your own room, WiFi and a bicycle if you need. All food included. Help needed with light cleaning duties, some gardening and grass cutting, collecting shopping from the store (10 minute walk) and helping a bit with food preparation, occasionally. It won't be more than 18 hours a week and it's completely flexible, you can enjoy everything the islands have to offer in your free-time and even take on other paid employment if you like. We have some sheep who pretty much take care of themselves, grazing on the croft. You can hopefully see most of what you need to know from the photos. The house is two storeys and has five bedrooms. The only person living there full-time is our grandmother and she just uses the ...

We are a family with three young children (8, 5, and 2 years old) In 2015 we bought a piece of abandonned land a few kilometers away from Valašské Klobouky. It was a total jungle, with a the house in ruin and a lot of trash lying around. We did a lot of work cleaning up the place and building back a nice small house for our family. The place is isolated and the house is not connected with town electricity. We are powered only by solar pannels and batteries. We have on the roof a total of 3,3 kW and a storage capacity of 7,5kW, with a lithium battery. If you are insterested in independants fotovoltaic systems, come check it up! We do CSA weekly organic baskets and also have a lot of other activities on our lands, taking care of farm animals, orchards and forests, making hay and firewood. We will ask from you 4 hours work a day( 9 -13 ) wich will consist according the weather and season in working in the vegetable garden (bed preping, planting, weeding, harvesting...) in the forest ...
