We live on a 5 acre hobby farm in the beautiful Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania. Our family consists of three young adult children (two live at home), two horses, many chickens, ducks, geese, goats and two gorgeous dogs. We grow organic vegetables and breed heritage chickens in an attempt to be more sustainable. Jobs involve general gardening, helping with the animals and housekeeping. If you would like a Tassie small farm experience message us with some details of the work you have previously done. We have separate accommodation, with a bathroom. All our HelpXers have loved working and living with us and I hope you will too (please remember Tassie is a cold place in winter). There are many areas of natural beauty in Southern Tasmania which are all fairly close to us. For example, the Hartz mountains, Hastings Caves and the Tahune Airwalk. We live close to a sleepy village called Cygnet and Hobart is only a 40min drive away. (Unfortunately we can't approve 2nd year visas)

Hello travellers! We’ve recently built a wonderfully energy efficient passive solar house, complete with off-grid solar for all our energy needs, rain water collection for all our water needs, and a worm farm waste management system for natural black and grey water processing. We’ve put a lot of work in to achieve a fossil-fuel-free, all-electric, household, with as small an environmental footprint as possible. We’re also lucky to live in a beautiful rural/coastal area near Inverloch, Victoria, approximately 1 hour 45 minutes south-east of Melbourne. We are close to some of Victoria’s most famous wildlife and wilderness attractions, including the Penguin Parade at Phillip Island, the Koala Conservation Reserve, and hiking and camping at Wilson’s Promontory (not to mention numerous local beaches and fishing spots only 10 minutes away!). With our house complete, we’re now working to progress the landscaping aspects of our project. We’d be very appreciative of a helping hand or two to ...

We have an automotive country workshop where we fix and service cars, 4WDs, trailers, tractors and all sorts of machinery. In our spare time we look after our little farm, some sheep, some cattle and rabbits. We also have a forest where we work and tidy up occasionally. So we are always in need of a couple of helpful hands to support us. We love to get to know different cultures and people. We grow our own meat, fruit and vegetables. Gustav also brews his own beer and makes wine and cider and lately also green tea. A mature, non-smoking, self-organized person, preferable not a vegetarian, to give us a hand with house and land, would fit best into our lifestyle. You will have to join into our daily routines: breakfast is at around 7am and then we feed all the animals, especially the hungry dogs and work starts at 8am. We need to get everyone organized before customers arrive in the workshop. We expect about 4 hours work per day and we offer a nice room with a lovely warm bed, gr...

My partner and I are building an off-grid sculptured cob home, the first of many on 74 acres of rainforest 30min from Port Douglas and 1.5hrs from Cairns. We have solar power, bore water, compost toilet with gas fridge & cooking. Help would be with cob building (mixing cob, building small round cob buildings, cutting bottle bricks, digging clay), gardening, mulching, brushcutting, feeding animals, etc. There are beautiful local rainforest walks to safe swimming creeks/waterfall. We have ducks, chickens, dog & cat and there is also plenty of room for self contained vans to park up. Nature lovers paradise, learning about self sufficiency, off-grid systems, natural building and growing food. We are currently running Earthbuilding workshops also. Accommodation is in a double bed caravan or camping.

(La description en français se trouve plus bas !) We are a small Buddhist community living in the forest close to Sainte-Julienne, Quebec. We have an organic fruit tree nursery, along with many other projects on our land: several fruit orchards, chickens and bees, growing our own vegetables and herbs and trying to be independent in many ways. The six people who are staying are: Ajan, Eric, Veronique, Elisabeth, Natalie and Camille. Each of us have arrived here one by one, at first just interested in helping out in the place, and then as we found that this lifestyle was for us, deciding to stay for longer. For part of the year we also have a couple of employees staying with us. There is also a wonderful dog named Dali. Our organic nursery and garden occupies a land of 9 hectares, surrounded by forest. As well as the main land of the nursery, we have another smaller land where a few of us live. This is, in fact, where the community started to grow from very small beginnings in the ear...

It looks like we are full until at least mid July but you are still welcomed to make inquiries about future dates. We appreciate help with DIY construction, repairs and maintenance, timber work, boat work, metal work repairs to trailers and for help with gardening, housekeeing, cooking, duck and chicken rearing and dog walking on the beach. Fishing, snorkelling, and rainforest walks can help occupy your spare time. We are looking for reasonably good DIY handymen and women, capable of working effectively, when necessary, on your own or as a pair and, ideally, someone who also has some gardening experience, but that is not really necessary, learn on the job! 😉👍. So you need to be a "morning person" who is happy to start work at 07.00 hr, at least five mornings a week, not a night-owl. This is to avoid the heat of the afternoons at this time of year, mornings ca n be beautiful. Much of the work will be outside, based out of a well-equipped, air-conditioned, woodworking worksho...

Hi beautiful people! I’m Christine, a happy spirited former language and arts teacher working across two continents. Since I retired I work in the natural health field. I live on an urban block called The Roo‘s Pouch, where I maintain a sustainable vegetable garden and created a community of nice people living with me. I live in one of the buildings on this sunny property which runs on rainwater harvesting. We avoid chlorine and contaminates by filtering, harmonizing, and energizing our own water though Ionisation. Water conservation is part of life for me. You can come to Maryborough via plane, bus or train. The Hervey Bay Airport is only 30min from my home. There are meanwhile several bus companies to choose from. If you use the train please book Maryborough town from the drop down menu. The shuttle bus from the train station in Maryborough west (20 min out of town) is free of charge if it is pre-booked.

We're an Aussie / French / Canadian family of four living in Graceville (Brisbane) : Tom, Isa, Xavier (13) & Max (3) Having benefited from HelpX many moons ago as backpackers in this wonderful country, it's time for us to swap sides and host travellers! We live in a large house set on a 1000sqm block lush with native trees, plants and wildlife. We have 20m of water frontage on Oxley Creek, the main tributary to the Brisbane River. It feels a world away from the City but we're only 10kms South-West of Brisbane CBD. Tom & Isa mostly work from home. How you will help us: • House chores, mainly cleaning (dishes, laundry, floors, bathrooms etc) • Cooking (if you can!) • Groceries • Gardening (mowing weeding trimming etc) • Light child supervision / entertainment (fear not, one of us will always be on site when the kids are around) Bonus skills (not required but could come in handy): • painting • carpentry We won't count, but we'd appreciate it if you can put in ~20 hours worth of help...

As international travelers you qualify for a concession card on Queensland tra...
