The area is quiet and scenic. The closest cities are Odda and Bergen. The bosses of the house are 4 dogs and 3 cats. Right now I don't have any farm animals of my own. Tinker does a lot of preserving with our produce - fruit, vegetables, meat and eggs - using different preserving methods (pickling, pressure canning, water bathing, fermenting, dehydrating). In the winter we do charcuterie/salumi with our farm raised pigs. Ad makes home brew beer, and also likes making sausages, trying new recipes. We can teach you about these if it is possible during your stay. Let us know if you particularly want to learn something, as not everything is possible all year. We are on the beautiful west coast, 2 minutes drive from Hokitika gorge. At the moment the jobs will include pressure washing, cleaning, gardening, caring for animals (horses, pigs, cows and pets) preserving garden produce and taking care of the vegetable gardens. We are sheepherds (I'm Mario, Carmela is my wife and Pietro is our 23 year old son). We have 85 milk sheep, 18 cows, many sheep dogs (the big white Maremma-Abruzzo sheepherd dogs). We need help to herd sheep. You will sleep in a trailer. We will eat together. We milk sheep and cows and make cheese. But we almost produce everything except soap.
