This is a certified organic macadamia nut orchard situated on 10ha in the foothills of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. We can pick helpers up from Swanson train station, which is 6km away. Having your own transport would enable you to explore the beautiful west coast beaches. Bethells Beach/Te Henga is 10km further down the road. Helpers activities are seasonal, and may include harvesting macadamia nuts in winter; processing the nuts; shelter belt maintenance; firewood splitting; weed grubbing and minimal gardening. We work alongside helpers and show you what to do. Please be aware that orchard work is physical, you will get dirty and there could be a few bugs! We request an average of 4 hours help per night stayed in return for food and accommodation. So that is 28 hours per week. However we aim to have a day off each week by working 2 x 6 hour days, or an 8 hour day. We can usually be flexible and also consider our helper's wishes. Work starts at 9am. We have a separate co...

We are Dave and Lynda an older couple and this is where our challengers lie. We live on a half-acre bush property, Dave built the house 35 years ago and it now requires a little maintenance. Some of the maintenance will involve helping Dave moving and working off scaffold and carpentry work. The yard needs some attention and involves some heavy wheelbarrow work to form a path beside our dam along with transplanting and planting. Hervey Bay is situated 3 hours drive north of Brisbane. So here's the deal,,,,, we are offering accommodation and food in exchange for assistance with the maintenance of the house and yard. You will get to stay in a great little 1 bedroom self-contained unit situated 10 minutes drive from the Hervey Bay town centre. We are asking 4 half days a week help in exchange for accommodation, I'm saying half days because we run out of energy about mid-day. This leaves you with plenty of time to explore the area and visit Fraser Island and our beautiful beache...

Our small farm (https://little-farm.com.au) sits in Northern Victoria, where we grow fruit and vegetables, plant trees, and learn as we go. Tim, a retired engineer, is always building or fixing something. Beth is a teacher and health practitioner who also teaches at university. She tends a rose garden of over 400 fragrant bushes. Early mornings here smell incredible. The property includes an organic vegetable garden, orchard, berries, herbs, and a music room with a baby grand piano. If you play, bring your instrument. We’re close to the Murray River. Big skies, glowing sunrises and sunsets, and rich birdlife surround us. Magpies are part of daily life here, in sound and in art across the farm. Nights are clear and full of stars. Many people arrive tired and leave feeling genuinely restored. What we’re looking for Willing, reliable help Someone who takes initiative and keeps shared spaces tidy A careful learner who asks when unsure You’ll be guided at first, then work more indepen...

My husband Matthias and I, Johanna, came from Germany as backpackers in the 1980s. We met here in NZ, but our home language is German. We are a family with eight children, who we home-educated throughout their school years. Three of them are now married, and we have five grandchildren. Five of our now grown-up children are living at home - either still or again - our oldest son with his wife and 4 boys is living in our cottage, and another son with his wife and baby has moved into a smaller house on our property. A friend lives in our housetruck. So life is happening to the full! Sadly, my husband passed away in January 2024 after a short time of intense illness. We miss him much! Our lifestyle block is home to a gaggle of geese, a flock of domestic ducks, around 40 chickens, some sheep and sometimes a few young male goats, - and of course many wild birds, rabbits and the tiny creatures of fields, woods and duck-pond. An old apple, apricot and peach orchard and a young walnut grove ar...

If you love wildlife, the outdoors, great views and good food, send us an email (only emails from this site will be responded to). This is very much a cultural exchange (for us and for you) as you will be in our family home sharing our lifestyle. NO SMOKERS OR VEGETARIANS PLEASE. We prefer our helpers to stay 2 weeks or more. Please message us through this platform to allow us to view your profile The property is located 60km South of Brisbane and 20km West of the Gold Coast on the upper North slope of Mt Tamborine, 320m above sea level. We are surrounded by National Parks and abundant wildlife. The property is 6Ha with a sub-tropical climate and has great country views to the North up to 140km on a clear day. A beach front section. Kayaking, body boarding, swimming and fishing available for guests. Accommodation and meals provided in exchange for four hours work a day. Gardening, housework, general household maintenance and painting could be requested. My preference is for people to stay a week. Taupo Bay is quite a small community and no public transport is available so it is often easier to have your own transport. Certainly not essential as arrangements can be made for collection and support to get to your next destination. I can collect people from the end of the Taupo Bay road or Mangonui. Many thanks for looking. Fran

Hi there! I live on a small lifestyle block about 10km inland from Oamaru. I have two horses, a few chickens (including a rooster) and a cat, and will need help with the garden and grounds, e.g. cutting hedges, digging the ground, lawn mowing, picking up horse poo etc. If you like horses you are welcome to keep them entertained too, but it’s not a requirement. If the weather is terrible, there would be plenty to do inside as well (cleaning etc.). I would expect helpers to work for 3-4 hours per day, in exchange for a comfortable bed and food, or 2 hours for just a bed. Minimum stay 4 nights. I am originally from Austria, but have lived in New Zealand for the past 15 years. My availability will depend a little bit on my work schedule, so if you have some flexibility with your dates, it will be easier for me to accomodate you. It is highly recommended that you have your own transport, as you will get more out of your stay that way. My property is right next to the Alps 2 Ocean cycle...

The closest train station is Beenleigh. Your own car is a plus. We welcome working holiday visa holders with good horse experience and most importantly a passion for horses !! In order to learn your daily task, routine and horses personalities, we will ask you to stay a minimum of 3 weeks. Long stays are really welcome. We start each morning training the horses, washing them and feeding them. All the retired horses need to be feed and watered as well. We need to feed and water all the horses again each night before dark. The ideal helpers will be positive, willing and with a some decent english. 🌿 Help Restore Native Forest & Care for Rescued Animals – Pahoia (Tauranga/Katikati) Since 2014, Tracey has been restoring former farmland into thriving native bush, creating a beautiful public coastal walkway while caring for a unique animal rescue sanctuary. The property is now home to Rebel the pony, Bramble the rescued deer, turtles, ducks, chickens, geese, guinea fowl, doves and many other rescued animals. Daily tasks include feeding and caring for rescued animals, weeding around native trees (“releasing” them so they can grow), gardening, planting, and general maintenance such as painting, building, landscaping or cleaning. We are near the Shoalwater Marine Park and Penguin Island 40mins from Perth city centre. Very close to public transport, cafes and library. Ideal for beach walking, diving, swimming, cycling, fishing, sailing and windsurfing (beach is 60 metres away). Accommodation would take form of a fully insulated cute tiny garden room with access to undercover cooking area and bathroom. IT is small so please See photos. On week days we are usually working in Perth so we cant provide meals, but a well-stocked supermarket is 200 metres away. When possible we can take turns for meals if possible. We average 2/3 hours a day painting, plumbing gardening and other repairs and can negotiate best time to do that, for example maybe it’s more convenient to do two longer days during the week.Greg is usually available to help you with your car or take you fishing, boating or sightseeing if you’re willing to free him up from his other commitments. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity corporation, dedicated to ending abuse and neglect of horses by providing a sanctuary for older horses to live out their lives, also doing limited rescue and networking to provide foster home opportunities for horses, but primarily teaching volunteers to become superb-caliber horsemasters themselves, thus ensuring that in future generations, there will be no need for rescue any longer, because the demand for horses, by people qualified to (and desirous of) caring for them will outstrip the supply of the horses themselves. I suffered a brain tumor with resultant partial paralysis in 2005, hence my need for volunteers to help me with day-to-day tasks. I always have a large list of tasks needing to be done, from which volunteers choose as they like. No mucking because the horses live on pasture or at least in paddocks 24/7. Tasks range from grooming and ground-schooling greenies (leading, longeing, line-driving, and so forth) to riding o...
