Come experience life off-grid! Xwe'etay / Lasqueti Island is a unique off-grid island in Coast Salish territory with passenger only ferry service from French Creek near Parksville on Vancouver Island. The island is home to hundreds of feral sheep, beautiful mature Douglas fir forest, mossy bluffs, beaches and wetlands for you to explore and a great community of human characters. Depending on the season and how long you stay, there is the option of going to dance and yoga classes and/or the community sauna 2x/week, plus various fun seasonal community events. June-September there is a weekly market on Saturdays. I'm looking for keen folks to help me with my homestead. I grow pretty much all my own veggies and am getting into more and more seed saving and even a bit of veg breeding. I keep chickens for eggs, hunt the local sheep and sometimes raise livestock for meat. Work is varied and flexible, there's gardening, construction projects, firewood, fencing, canning & food preservat...

In 2023, we bought a small 6ha farm which is mainly used for grazing horses. It has a couple of waterways running through the paddocks, and around 2ha of natural wetlands which were drained many decades ago. Our plan is to gradually plant native grasses and trees along the waterways, and eventually restore the wetlands to their natural glory. We need some help caring for all the new plantings – depending on the season this could be shovelling horse manure around the plants (spring), clearing weeds (spring), using a wood chipper to create mulch (spring/summer), or planting more trees (autumn/winter). We're pretty flexible though, and would also appreciate help with our vegetable garden, fruit trees, cooking & cleaning, dog-walking, fixing sheds, and maybe even some babysitting (our daughter was born in July 2025). Whatever you prefer! We generally ask for around 3-4 hours of help per day, 5 days per week, in exchange for a private room, cooked dinners, and ingredients for breakfast an...

Be sure to read our reviews. With being close to Auckland we are often a helpx's first stop and are happy to give you advise and suggestions for your trip around Northland or the rest of the country. Would like an energetic couple or single person to help out with gardening, and housework. We would expect about 4-5 hours help a day in return for free accommodation and meals. Large bedroom and own bathroom. We have animals so, would prefer someone who enjoyed them being around. There are many wonderful places to explore in Hawkes Bay when you are not working. Fantastic cycle ways, tramping trips into the native bush areas, beaches and wonderful wineries. Prefer you to have your own car to get around and beable to see the region.

My farm, located near Kaniva, is a commercial agricultural enterprise in the Wimmera region of western Victoria (midway between Melbourne and Adelaide). It has been owned by my family for more than 130 years. In 2006 I purchased the major portion of the productive land from the family Estate, and now annually crops nearly 425ha to spring wheat, barley, oats, field beans and canola. I am fully responsible for the management and on-going development of the farm, with a "share-farmer" undertaking many of the farm labour components. I do not have enough work to keep you busy long-term, but I certainly have enough for 3-5 days. The deal I am offering is that you help me with general farm chores (e.g. burning up heaps of branches, some fencing repairs, cleaning up branches under trees, caring for my lawns and garden, cutting up firewood, planting farm trees, etc) and I provide free meals and accommodation and a modest hourly payment. Depending on the day/weather we would work for 4-5 ho...

The help we require is some basic garden maintenance, wood splitting, weed-eating etc. We are an animal besotted family with 2 horses, 2 cats, and 2 dogs (please NOTE we have retired drugs dogs so if you use even occasionally, whilst we are not judging you, please don't bother offering your services !). We need helpers who are energetic, honest, fun, caring, conscientious, can get on with jobs without requiring supervision and are not glued to a device!!! This is a busy fun hardworking jungle hostel. Our volunteers contribute their creative energy and talent at our busy jungle hostel. We are located in the Panamanian highlands (on the main road between both oceans) on more than 30 acres of rain forest (cloud forest) and re-purposed organic coffee farm. Because it is one of the only pieces of titled land, the community is looking to us alone to develop tourism. We are the deepest private reserve within the La Fortuna nature park. We host backpackers, volunteers, scientists, nature enthusiasts, birders etc. Because we want to employ as many persons from the local community as possible, volunteers are not simply used to cut down our labor costs. Minimum commitment length we are looking for from volunteers is 1 month We look forward to sharing the experience of living in the jungle with you. We are in the Lonely Planet book in both the Central America on a shoestring book as well as the Panama book. Our hostel has very favorable reviews...

(La description en français se trouve plus bas !) We are a small Buddhist community living in the forest close to Sainte-Julienne, Quebec. We have an organic fruit tree nursery, along with many other projects on our land: several fruit orchards, chickens and bees, growing our own vegetables and herbs and trying to be independent in many ways. The six people who are staying are: Ajan, Eric, Veronique, Elisabeth, Natalie and Camille. Each of us have arrived here one by one, at first just interested in helping out in the place, and then as we found that this lifestyle was for us, deciding to stay for longer. For part of the year we also have a couple of employees staying with us. There is also a wonderful dog named Dali. Our organic nursery and garden occupies a land of 9 hectares, surrounded by forest. As well as the main land of the nursery, we have another smaller land where a few of us live. This is, in fact, where the community started to grow from very small beginnings in the ear...

Update: we are looking for a person or two to stay for at least 2 weeks (ideally 4 weeks plus) from now until 3rd January and again mid-late February onwards 😊 We will be away for some of that time, so you can have the house to yourselves over the New Year period, as long as you look after the glamping domes, feed Kenny the cat & water the plants. We have had helpers convert a van using our tools during this time, if that is something that appeals. We are on an off-grid organic permaculture property on a big hill with amazing sea & rural views, along with spectacular sunrises & sunsets. We live in a 2 bedroom rammed earth house, where you would be in your own bedroom and share the facilities. We need help with gardening, looking after our toddler (2 yo), planting, weeding, construction, cleaning & laundry (we run a small glamping business with geodesic domes also). We would be very happy to teach you what we know about Permaculture (we both have our Permaculture Design Certific...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to routburn and greenstone tracks.you will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. ,a bit isolated, not for the precious,no trophy hunters !! .please don`t apply unless you intend to come for a minimum stay of two weeks. One person only.we do not get involved with internships or visa applications.vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, so you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers ! Accommodation is a house bus in warmer weather or a room in the house in winter, not shared usually. Lastly I also play the guitar ( badly ) and sing ( worse ) ,but it's all about smile not style :-) Cheers Al

LOOKING FOR HELPERS NOW. In return for 4 hours help a day I offer you accommodation and all meals in a sunny, warm home where you will have your own bedroom (queen size bed) and own bathroom with the added privacy of being in a separate wing of my house. My sunny home sits atop a hill from which you will have a magnificent view of the township of Blenheim to Cook Strait and the hills of the North Island beyond. Of course if you would prefer to work a full day in order to have a day off in which you could explore the nearby Marlborough Sounds, cycle the wine trails, or walk or climb on any of the formed tracks in this area, that would be just fine. My 40 ha property is a sheep/beef farm most of which is leased. I tend a large garden and care for the drive and tracks, drainage and irrigation and deal with fallen trees. It is situated in the midst of vineyards in the Brancott Valley 13km from Blenheim (pop 30,000) which contests the annual sunshine record every year. Most of the wor...

I own a small property in North Phoenix, AZ with 1 dog, 2 horses and 1 tortoise. I am searching for people who can convert my tack shed into a living quarters and to help with handy “person” chores. I am also looking for people with horse experience who would be able to feed twice a day and clean stalls, in addition to gardening. Only Non-smokers please. I am interested in finding a person who wants to explore the Phoenix desert and enjoy the quiet neighborhood I live in. I work from home and am here most of the time. I do play music while I work, and have a very slow Internet, so while I work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, you will not be able to be on the Internet after 6:30 AM until 5 PM. Anytime before or after that will be fine to be on the Internet, I have a pool, an outdoor shower to enjoy in the warm months, and an indoor and outdoor fireplace that I love in the winter! I rarely cook, but I will provide food for you to cook for yourself 3 meals per day. I will expect fou...

Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. We have recently found koalas living on the property in the flooded gum trees, with many wallabies and goanna’s are everywhere in summer ! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to sit /relax , meditate or just ponder the world ....

June-September there is a weekly market on Saturdays. I'm looking for keen folks to help me with my homestead.

PLEASE READ MY WHOLE HOST PROFILE BEFORE YOU APPLY TO VISIT MY PLACE AND ASK ABOUT ANYTHING YOUR NOT CLEAR ON You don't need to have an overwhelming desire to save the world, live off the land, or be more useful than a Swiss army knife, to stay here. A nice honest person is good enough. This is a relaxing place, close to nature, away from the backpacker trail on the coast but still got a bit happening, somewhere to recharge your batteries, do a bit of work, have a laugh and meet some real Aussies, maybe get out of your comfort zone a bit😜 My place is a cattle farm with one skinny, old farmer, one dog, some cattle, lots of birds and wildlife, relaxing place, near Kyogle, a quiet country town, which is 1.5 hours drive west from Byron Bay. Two hours south of Brisbane by train. Very close to the beautiful Border Ranges National Park (bike ride away). I like to show people around.
