Update, possible accommodation available for kiwifruit staff. My caravan is available, not fancy but clean & waterproof. I'm a beekeeper in need of assistance, either with the bees directly or not. I'm located 16km South of Te Puke on a property that has a back boundary of native forest. I'm usually able to host people at any time of year, but am busiest in the spring. I currently have building projects happening, as well as lots of painting, waxing new bee frames, and also hands on beekeeping for anyone who is keen. I also keep sheep and cattle on the property here, and hunt deer and pigs in the forest. These grass and forest fed animals form a large part of the menu here, so vegetarians probably won`t be happy with the diet. I cater to lots of herbivores and they all have hooves or paws. I own a medium sized farm. I have 200 dairy cows, 100 cattle, 50 ewes , 1 dog, 10 cats, hens & ducks. I need help with all farm duties throughout the year. We enjoy meeting and working with helpers from different countries and we try to make your stay work for both of us. Although we are not vegetarians or other specialty diets we have no problem hosting one. One family member is gluten free. Seasonally we need assistance with with fencing, firewood cutting, the garden, harrowing, feeding livestock, building and building maintenance and general farm labour. No experience necessary but must have a willing attitude and be comfortable around animals. Someone with Carpentry skills is always helpful. Hello Potential Volunteers My name is Paul and it was my dream to change my lifestyle from being an office worker to becoming an alpaca farmer.... here we are 14 years later with 100 alpacas, each individually cherishes with names and unique personalities, plus an assortment of other animals all needing our love :) I have three children: Liam (21), Dylan (9) and Oscar (6), and our 100-acre farm is home to approx.100 alpacas, plus llamas, peacocks, hens, mini pigs, a cat named Sexy, and our farm dog Malta. This year we are expecting 20 'cria' (baby alpacas) and each one will need our help so they can thrive! We need to ensure they get colostrum (filled with antibodies and vital for good health) – have they fed from their mums within the first 24hrs? Are they then drinking enough milk from their mums every day? Are they gaining weight? The well-being of my animals is the most important thing on the farm. Do they have good food and enough water, and the best possible natural environme...
