I have a pair of picturesque, riverfront hobby farms, each with a large 4-bedroom house. In time, want to transition the farms to more of a communal space. There are three acres of wild blueberries that I am currently converingt to organic production, six acres of pasture, and about eight acres of woods that provide more than enough firewood to heat both homes without having to clear-cut any areas. I have a small herd of alpacas and an even smaller flock of chickens, whom I allow to free range. We harvest a small portion of our food from the property, and my vision is to increase that slowly and steadily every year. My property is 10 hectares on the West Coast of the South Island, which starts at the coast with sand beach and sunsets and heads inland 1km through native wetlands and forest. Approximately 20km from Westport, 1km from Tauranga Bay! Public transport is limited? I'm a Certified Plumber and Drainlayer by trade but recently retired to work on property (next stage of life!) We have now moved and bought an equally stunning property in Far North Queensland in a small country town (Cardwell) on 3 acres 10 minutes from beach. We are located between Cairns and Townsville and just south of Mission Beach. Terry and I are not as young as we used to be and are struggling with maintaining the property.
