Homestay in Southern Indiana We are looking for a capable and thoughtful person (or couple) for a long term stay to assist with housekeeping, meal prep, organization, and selling items on FB marketplace & Craigslist. Age doesn’t matter nearly as much as respect, emotional maturity, honesty, and a true desire to help change lives for the better. This position is ideal for someone who needs time and space for things like yoga and meditation, writing a book or blog. If you have an online job with flexible hours, are into wildlife photography or maybe just perfecting your favorite bread recipe, this is the place for you! Hoping you will have experience with eBay, FB marketplace and photography or be willing to learn. A licensed driver with a vehicle would be awesome, but it is not a deal breaker if you don’t have a car. (We are hoping to find a used car for helpers to use.) Projects currently in the works are - - food prep once a week & freezing ready to eat meals - learning to ...

I've previously been a Helpx host with my family winery and vineyard, as well as my farm property south of Adelaide. These days the winery is winding down, but in the past 18 months I've tripled the farm size to 130Ha (325ac). I'm currently growing hay and agisting sheep, with dozens of kangaroos for company. The farm is minutes from Victor Harbor (population 16,000), but the feeling is remote, as neighbouring houses can't be seen. The big projects at the moment are fencing and laying pipework for water for the sheep. There's also things like cutting firewood, machinery maintenance, road bulding, shed building and looking after a patch of native scrub. I have a covered orchard and the beginnings of a veggie garden, but I have no idea what I'm doing, so someone who could help with that would be much appreciated. The property is off-grid, but has all the modern conveniences of power, water, heating and air conditioning, all of which I've done myself. In the down-time I like to drive ...

NOTICE: DUE TO HEATWAVE HAVE LEFT FRANCE FOR COOLER PASTURES, WILL BE BACK IN SEPTEMBER. Hi, I’m Toby, 48, from the UK. I am slowly bringing back to life a beautiful old French farm property in the Dordogne. It was previously renovated into a 16-bedroom hotel back in 1990 and sits in peaceful rural countryside, surrounded by sunshine, wildlife, vineyards and quiet country views. The house is in the French wine region between Bergerac and Saint-Émilion, around 60 km from Bordeaux and just a few kilometres from Sainte-Foy-la-Grande train station. At the moment I am working on site mostly on my own while my family is back in the UK. Replacing windows, protecting the house from the weather and keeping the garden under control has become a lot of work, so I would really appreciate some friendly help. I used HelpX once before and had a good experience, so I thought I would try again this year. The kind of help I need: The work is not usually very technical or heavy. It would mostly b...

We live in a lovely position with stunning views over Mangonui harbour in the far north. Sociable and energetic, we need some extra help with the chainsaw, splitting and stacking firewood, painting and spring cleaning the house. Well travelled with a little French, we love helpers who are cheerful and adaptable and who also like cooking. We ask for four hours' help per day each in exchange for breakfast, dinner and accom but we're flexible. We also like musicians! Our other residents are two small dogs, chooks and sheep. Helper accom is in a powered, freshly renovated retro caravan separate from the house. We are near a small historic township with lots of cafes, a pub, wharf and boutiques, with six good swimming, fishing and surfing beaches within 20 minutes. We like to take visitors fishing from our boat if the weather is fine. Our house is an ideal starting point to explore Cape Reinga and Ninety Mile Beach, less than an hour to Kerikeri and two hours to Whangarei. We don't mind swa...

It is our mission to provide visitors from all over the world with an authentic experience of the unique atmosphere and culture of our home in Canada’s far North. As a well-established tourism company, we are diversifying our impacts and create a more resilient business. Doing this is not only fulfilling our long-term mission of developing a self-sustaining Arctic Eco-Village, but also investigating innovative solutions to major obstacles facing communities in the North: food and housing insecurity, decolonizing our economy, capacity development and cultural revitalization. Sustainable farming is not the only focus we have here, but we are continuously developing ideas and trying new farming methods. We are happy to find people from all over the world who are as motivated as we are to make living in the Arctic more sustainable. Organic methods: In the summer time, when we enjoy 24 hour sunshine, we grow our plants in greenhouses without the use of any chemical/artificial fertilizers....

I usually live in Australia with my husband but have returned to Japan to look after my 100-year-old mother at her house in Yokohama, an hours drive south of Tokyo. My husband will soon return to Australia as the fire season is approaching and there are dangers for our house in the forest there (see BLOG and WEBSITE). With only me looking after my mother it is quite intense as I can get little rest, and according to my mother's doctor, the intensity will only increase towards the end of the year. I worry I will have trouble in the future getting out to do shopping and even my own medical appointments. There is a constant flow of medical professionals coming to the house (nurses, doctor, physiotherapist, dentist, masseuse and social worker), but this does not give me a break as it is important that I am present and alert absorbing any developing insights. Given: i) very positive experiences in Australia with HelpX helpers (see reviews in the WEBSITE), and ii) the fact that the top fl...

Would like to learn and look after a vineyard and winery this season, no experience is necessary. Established in 1998 and hosting HELPXers for over 15 years, it is the only certified organic winery in the Perth region. It is situated in the Swan Valley, 7km from Elenbrook and 15km from the Perth airport. The vineyard has 3,000 vines, a large house we live in, a machinery shed, and a winery/distillery on the property. Winemaking occurs during the summer months from January to March. A large, spacious room with a double bed, attached to the house, has a private entrance. Applications for mature couples as applicants are now open. Opportunities for vineyard and maintenance work are available. Couples with Visitor Visas are also welcome. I want (NON-smoking) volunteers who wish to experience domestic, distillery, vineyard, and winemaking work. During the season, there are generally outdoor activities, such as winery and vine work, plus gardening if it is not raining or too hot. Be ...

This beautiful, 2.5 hectare garden, set in the heart of Haute-Normandie Pays de Caux near the English Channel and whose light inspired the Impressionist movement, which can be loosely translated as an Arthouse garden. This is not a run of the mill HelpX destination. There is a real opportunity to learn and have a totally unique experience while staying in the 17th century Priory in the centre of the garden. Cécile, the gardening artist or artistic gardener (she conforms to both), welcomes you to join her in this artistic gardening adventure. Previous experience of gardening and some basic French are welcome but not essential as Cecile can get by in English, Spanish and German and will teach you all you need to know; the work, of course, changes with the seasons and can be a variety of brute force and delicate sensitivity but never forgetting that this is an artistic adventure and is open to the public. Help Xers are invited to food and accommodation in return for an average of 5/6 ho...

I live between a yacht on Sydney Harbour and a house in a tall eucalyptus forest on the mid north coast of NSW, and need some assistance in working on the house and on another yacht.  I'm a carpenter who worked with National Parks and Wildlife for 25 years before retiring, and live with a small dog Billy. I've had many helpers come stay over the last few years and have been lucky to have so many interesting travellers stay.  My yacht, is currently on the hard at Whoota, where we are renovating her while helping with work on her. I often take helpers out sailing to see the magnificent Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House but this is not possible while she is being worked on. Yet, I hope to invite helpers out when she is back in the water. The house is located in Whoota, near Forster. It is surrounded by forest and located a 10 minute drive from pristine beaches, lakes, and bushwalks. There a lots of dolphins to see and beautiful areas to explore. The work we are doing on the house ...

Do you wanna experience an adventure in Italy? Then come to visit us in Stilfs, a small mountain village located in the region of South Tyrol in the middle of the Alps. Stilfs has a long history with many old traditions, still celebrated. The village is located on the sunny side of the mountain at around 1300 meters above sea level. Roughly 450 people are inhabiting this place, the fields are still cultivated traditionally without the use of pesticides. The region has to offer some nice walks, glaciers, mountain lakes as well as the nearby Stelvio Pass. In recent years I have become increasingly involved in growing vegetables and wine and in 2024 I will focus more on growing industrial hemp. Why hemp? In 2023 I experimented a lot with natural fibers and clay, after which I started using these materials for my lamps. (See website for photos and products). Requirements for the helpers... You should have a little manual skills, and the rest is easy to learn... The helpers' activiti...

This is for those of you who plan ahead. We are full until mid July, right at the start of our best fishing season and in the middle of our best weather when at least some of the time we should be cutting great timber from unwanted trees using a 26 inch/56cm bandsaw. So anyone who loves fishing, snorkelling on inshore reefs and is good at DIY or carpentry and loves the simple, quiet, rural life by the beach, next to the rainforest, this is for you 🤗. We appreciate help with DIY construction, repairs and maintenance, timber work, boat work, metal work repairs to trailers and for help with gardening, housekeeing, cooking, duck and chicken rearing and dog walking on the beach. Fishing, snorkelling, and rainforest walks can help occupy your spare time. We are looking for reasonably good DIY handymen and women, capable of working effectively, when necessary, on your own or as a pair and, ideally, someone who also has some gardening experience, but that is not really necessary, learn o...

UPDATE of July 24th, 2024 We are in the Kyiv Region area, which has not been affected by the war. 1) We are looking for two native English speakers to join us, 2) We are looking for a caring person to help us with the twins. He/she doesn't need to be a native English speaker. We are a family of five people who strive to provide foreign language education in an underprivileged rural part of Ukraine to kids and help visitors discover Ukraine through its people, cuisine, culture, historical places, and language. Our small family-run language school is a semi-charitable project. We charge very little for language classes. Some students are very poor so we teach them for free. We are looking for native English speakers (M-F) to teach and practice languages with us. The objective of our school is to provide the highest quality education with a focus on speaking skills. If you love kids, have lots of patience, and want to make a difference, then we are inviting you into our big internat...

We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. Graham has some woodworking skill but needs help during that time with various tasks and we are willing to give you a comfortable bed, good food and company and access to bathroom and washing machine in exchange for 4 hours help per day, 5 days per week. Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. We have recently found koalas living on the property in the flooded gum trees, with many wallabies and goanna’s are everywhere in summer ! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to relax , . Located 12 minutes the pristine beach’...

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

We are a busy family with a two acres of gardens in a country setting, just 10 minutes outside Tauranga. We have a menagerie of animals plus vegetable gardens and a small fruit salad orchard. You will have this accommodation building to yourself. We like 2 people at a time, and for a week or two, depending on work available. There is always plenty to do with a wide variety of tasks both outside and inside. This includes: - gardening, pruning trees and shrubs, weeding, lawn mowing, wood splitting/stacking and other section maintenance (to suit your level of experience). - some inside housework/cleaning on rainy days - Painting plus other house maintenance and landscape work (i...

This is a busy fun jungle hostel. Our volunteers contribute their creative energy and talent at our busy jungle hostel. We are located in the Panamanian highlands (on the main road between both oceans) on more than 30 acres of rain forest (cloud forest) and re-purposed organic coffee farm. Because it is one of the only pieces of titled land, the community is looking to us alone to develop tourism. We are the deepest private reserve within the La Fortuna nature park. We host backpackers, volunteers, scientists, nature enthusiasts, birders etc. Because we want to employ as many persons from the local community as possible, volunteers are not simply used to cut down our labor costs. Minimum commitment length we are looking for from volunteers is 1 month We look forward to sharing the experience of living in the jungle with you. We are in the Lonely Planet book in both the Central America on a shoestring book as well as the Panama book. Our hostel has very favorable reviews elsewhere. ...

We have 2 options Number 1 In Christchurch we like help in our very large and peaceful hillside garden. The work is mainly weeding. We also want firewood chopped and moved, and mulch carried uphill and placed on gardens.. Our campervan also needs cleaning. People who are fit, happy and able to be independent with their spare time day and evenings are most welcome. Please note we are quiet people. We eat dinner around 6pm and don't socialise after 7.30pm or late into the evening as we work during the day. Our kitchen and lounge area are NOT available for use after 7.30pm . We request non smoking guests. We like people to do 4 hours work a day or negotiate more hours with more time off. Guests have a separate bathroom. We provide food and evening dinner on work days ( so guests to go out for evening dinner on a non work day) and accommodation to reliable helpers and friendly people.Get in touch if our work is within your skill range and if you think we might be a good option for ...

Hey everyone it's Coco. I have a farm property down here near Moruya at Congo, NSW. I have recently moved house and now live at my beach house, but still run the farm 2 km away. There is plenty to do as I am still getting organised at the beach house, so come and help. The house is across the road from the beach - swimming and surfing every day. On the farm there are a few cows and sheep, very friendly farm dog, an orchard and an organic garden to look after... and kangaroos. At the beach house i need help re-establishing my gardens, painting, general house maintenance. I am around heaps, but helpers need to be able to do stuff without supervision and know what you are doing. It's better if you have farm experience and a mature attitude. Things that I need help with specifically include: Farm related jobs Looking after the dog Check the cows Weed control Fencing checks House cleaning Lawns Washing Painting Meal preparation For your fun there are bikes, surfboards and plenty of ...

Our preference is for a single person or couple who have some skil...

At times we raise our own (friendly) lambs and pigs and do some home processing into hams, bacon etc. We have a clean and very comfortable 60m2 accommodation separate from the main house with 2 bedrooms (one double and two single beds), a bathroom/shower, a large living area, a nice little kitchen, and wifi.

I am looking for short term/long term, trustworthy helpers with a respectful, mature attitude. Flexible, easy going, good natured with a good sense of humour, Initiative and common sense. You will need to be a self starter, and a good communicator because I will need your input. You must be trustworthy and reliable to work alone, have good problem solving skills and follow instructions with Initiative and common sense. Practical / manual helpers needed with solution based thinking and good problem solving skills, for short stay or long term. Repair and maintenance skills will be needed. So experience with power tools will be necessary. Experience with Painting/decorating would be extremely helpful. Someone safe at Climbing ladders would be most helpful. I'm also looking for a helpful organiser. I don't have clutter' just a lot of things I need help to get sorted, and organised so I'm not constantly running on catch up. I will need help organising, sorting and filing (lots of) pap...
