In 2023, we moved to a small 6ha farm which is mainly used for grazing horses. It has a couple of waterways running through the paddocks, and around 2ha of natural wetlands which were drained many decades ago. Our plan is to gradually plant native grasses and trees along the waterways, and eventually restore the wetlands to their natural glory. We need some help caring for all the new plantings – depending on the season this could be shovelling horse manure around the plants (spring), clearing weeds (spring), using a wood chipper to create mulch (spring/summer), or planting more trees (autumn/winter). We have 2 mango orchards consisting of 900 mango trees. Our home is set inside 1 of the orchards. We are close to town and the room has orchard and mountain views. We are 15 min from the beach named Puerto Arista and close to the famous Boca de Cielo and one of the worlds largest , undeveloped estuaries with all kinds of wild life and mangroves . We are situated in southern Chiapas. It is very safe . We have none of the problems you may hear about and we love it and everyone who has volunteered with us has loved it too. 2 Small farms turned into the one near the West Coast of Clare. We keep lots of farm animals like cattle, horses, donkeys, sheep, goats and fowl. We produce a wide range of vegetables for ourselves and some for selling.
