Animal Rescue and Sanctuary and Organic Vegan Farm in Central Costa Rica Hello everyone! What we do: We take care of animals, we grow organic food, we prepare and eat tasty vegan meals, we minimize our impact on the earth, and we enjoy the company of our Costa Rican friends and neighbors. We have run a volunteer program for over 18 years, and have had several hundred people come to work with us! Our farm is primarily an animal rescue, rehab and sanctuary. Our doors are open to animals in need. We currently have five rescue dogs, six goats, a pig, a horse, two cats, and two water buffalos. I am looking for people that are passionate about dogs and like to spend time and work with dogs. A pack of 24 huskies is something different than having a pet dog at home. You will be able to join our animal assisted programs with kids and young adults and learn about it. I am educated in dog physiotherapy as well and there is the possibility to learn in this field as well. Beside the main topic the huskies we have bee hives and produce our own honey. We are looking for a volunteer who has a lot of experience handling multiple rescue dogs. Our volunteer is looking after our 4 rescue dogs and 2 rescue cats 6 hours per day for 5 days per week. Looking after our pets includes cleaning after them, playing with them, taking them for walks. Our staff is doing the cooking for the pets and feeding them. The room where volunteer stays is a big shared room 25 square meters. Members of staff will pass through it daily. 2 dogs out of 4 and one cat stay in this room. We are a waterski club, hosting waterskiers from beginner to national competitive level. The help needed to be done 3 to 5 hrs per day, such as mowing grass, making firewood and regular yard and home maintenance. One thing I can advise helpers who want to get a placement with any host is to have at least one PICTURE of YOURSELF. Just as you like to "see" who and where you are coming, hosts like to see who they are opening their home to.
