There are 4 family members in our family. Me, my wife (dika), son (suman) and a daughter (sudha). The village is located around 600km from Kathmandu with an altitude of 2225 mt. The Ilam district is famous for its tea farms. We have our own organic farm, with fruit & herbal plants and a nursery consisting mainly of kiwi plants. We have also two cows. We are growing kiwi, black tea, ground apples, chickpeas, cucumber and beans. Volunteers are warmly welcomed to my farm as well as my family. My partner and I own a 40 acre lifestyle farm in remote Central Otago about 35 minutes from Alexandra, 1.5h from Queenstown and Wanaka. The little settlement is very beautiful and reflects the history of the area. We have 4 horses, 4 donkeys and a few cows as well as a dog. We can accommodate up to 2 people and are looking for some help with weed control/gardening and a bit of building where required. We’re renovating an old cottage so if you have building or carpentry skills that’s a bonus. Of course there will be some fun and horse riding will be part of the exchange to! We are a 10 min drive from Airlie beach in the Whitsundays with 72 islands to sail to. there are many ways a helper can help and learn about permaculture and bamboo. You will have your own room here with wifi and the food is fresh and healthy. We have self contained accommodation in the garden if you like. And if you love fishing we catch and cook seafood. I live close the train station and bus stop and am a 30 min trip by train to Melbourne City. There is a vehicle to drive locally if are appropriately licensed. You are welcome to use it.
