We are looking for volunteers in our hostel to help us with the check ins and check outs, washing and cleaning 2-3 hours a day. Our hostel situated in the heart of Vegueta in Las Palmas’s old city, close to the university. We are looking for easy going people to join us who can make programs and projects sometimes with our guests, some Spanish knowledge is an advantage. We offer a a private room for two volunteers, or two bunks in 4 bed dormitory, as we agree. With our brother hostels volunteers we go for trips around the islands usually every week in the season or every two weeks, and we are happy to connect you with other hostels in Gran Canaria

Based in the spot chosen by the original settling family in the area, we have a really well established garden that needs taming and some quirky buildings that need some TLC. This is a certified organic macadamia nut orchard situated on 10ha in the foothills of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. We can pick helpers up from Swanson train station, which is 6km away. Having your own transport would enable you to explore the beautiful west coast beaches. Bethells Beach/Te Henga is 10km further down the road. Helpers activities are seasonal, and may include harvesting macadamia nuts in winter; processing the nuts; shelter belt maintenance; firewood splitting; weed grubbing and minimal gardening. We work alongside helpers and show you what to do. Please be aware that orchard work is physical, you will get dirty and there could be a few bugs! We request an average of 4 hours help per night stayed in return for food and accommodation. So that is 28 hours per week. We identify children from slums and upcountry villages. I live in a beautiful part of the Coromandel, near a small village called Kuaotunu, which is only 5 minutes to some lovely beaches. My home is surrounded by bush with a beautiful stream going through it, that generates the power I need. I also have solar power and solar hot water heating. We grow our own veggies and have cows and a cat and three gold fish. now only two the cat ate one The land has a hill that gives awesome views out to the ocean and lovely bush walks has a meditation spot .. One of the things we do is collect sea food to make yummy meals. i have a self contained chalet, with a log fire. We do all sorts of jobs like gardening, building projects and what ever comes along.
