Hi, I’m Jo and I’ve created a small urban food forest in Coromandel town, based on permaculture principles. I’m looking for someone to stay for a few days (usually 3–5 at a time) to help in the garden and around the house. Tasks might include general food forest maintenance, light gardening, window cleaning and general housework. The exact length of stay will depend on how things are going and whether it feels like a good fit for both of us. I live in a small house and you’ll have your own bedroom with a king single bed. We share the bathroom and toilet. The house is right in Coromandel town, walking distance to shops and just a few minutes’ drive to the beach. In exchange for around 4 hours of help per day, I offer good food, a relaxed environment and friendly company. I share my home with a small dog, a cat, four chickens, two budgies and a turquoise parrot, so animal lovers are very welcome. Looking forward to meeting you, Jo

Hi travellers, welcome to NZ! I found out about helpx from travellers overseas and thought I would try it. We live on a sheep and beef farm 35 minutes east of Masterton, 15 minutes from Riversdale beach and 25 minutes from Castlepoint beach. I live with my partner Mel and daughters Kenzie (4yrs ) and Emmie (1yr). We are looking for 2 people to help. We require 1 person to help on the farm and 1 person to help watch our daughters :) You will have your own room, food supplied, Internet and washing machine. We can pick you up from Masterton. I have travelled a lot and enjoy meeting new people. I think a travelling experience is most enjoyable when a local shows you the local sites, cultures and attractions. I have had many friends, who I have met overseas, visit me and I enjoy being host and enhancing their NZ experience. And when I visit them they do the same for me. Alex, Mel, Kenzie & Emmie

I’m a single mum with shared custody of an engaging 13 year old daughter, plus a little dog, looking for someone to join us from mid-March and stay for 6-8 weeks (or longer). I am self-employed in an import/export business, and have a large house and garden, the care of which get away from me without assistance! The help needed is with domestic tasks (dishes, cleaning etc) in the house, and mostly maintaining the garden and outside of the property. Someone who’s a bit handy and could undertake a few little fix-it jobs would be an added bonus. I work full-time, and sometimes need assistance to get Abigail to her various activities, so a full drivers license is required. My elderly mum occasionally needs to be driven places as well - she's a fun lady who provides vibrant and lively conversation. Abigail is pretty self-sufficient, and of course is only with me half the time, but she has a wide variety of interests and a zany sense of humour... she is easy to spend time with if you can ...

Hello there, I'm looking for travellers, nature lovers, people interested in permaculture and a different way of living. I'm Erik, class '88, I live in northern Italy where I've been building a permaculture project for the last few years. I've always been a dreamer, a wanderer seeking adventure and a deeper connection with Nature. After few years of working and travelling the world I decided to start this other journey here 1,5 hours drive from my birth place. As a sensitive person, Healing is a good portion of what drove this life choice into being, as I find it more gentle and sustainable for ourselves and the environment. On a more practical note, the land for now is taken care of for self sufficiency and not as a businness. I can offer food and accomodation in exchange of 3/4 hours of work, 5 days a week.. Most jobs are to do with the garden and the orchard, from planting out vegetables, tree planting, weeding, spreading compost, wood chipping, mulching, all depending on the tim...

We are in the process of renovating an old house in the Pyrenees. There is only decorating to do such as stripping paint of walls and woodwork, and repainting. There might be the occasional carpentry to do also, nothing too complicated. We need help 5 hours per day, five days per week. Weeding, pruning trees, making paths. We are looking for help from two strong and healthy individuals to assist with a house redecorating project and gardening, trimming trees, path making etc. This requires physical strength and stamina. Please note, we cannot host anyone with any pre existing health issues, physical or mental (we are not medically trained to manage such conditions). We live in a small village with some shops and a climbing centre and a river just opposite the house. We have a quite a size garden where we grow vegetables, fruit bushes and trees. Here, we have spectacular mountain views on our doorstep, hiking trails through the mountains and forests, cycling paths, and skiing in the...

I would be very happy to welcome volunteer teachers who are willing to help at my school for two or three months, or even for a full semester. *I want the volunteers who work at my school to not feel like they are working. Instead, I want them to feel that they are enjoying themselves and having a holiday while staying with us. Their room is fully equipped with air conditioning, hot showers, and a spacious private room that is separate from the main house, so they can feel comfortable and relaxed during their stay.* My name is Edison I have a wife, her name is Nofi. I run a private English school for children between the ages of 7 and 19 in the small town of Batusangkar, West Sumatra. We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. Graham has some woodworking skill but needs help during that time with various tasks and we are willing to give you a comfortable bed, good food and company and access to bathroom and washing machine in exchange for 4 hours help per day, 5 days per week. My name is Selly and I am the founder of an association. I live in the city of Morogoro in Tanzania, where I was born. I founded this association 4years ago with the aim of promoting access to education for children,Youth and-women in my country and hometown. Unfortunately, although Tanzania has exceptional wildlife and culture, access to education is marked by significant inequalities. Approximately 3.5 million school-age children and adolescents are not enrolled in school, and nearly 30% of children aged 5 to 14 are working, 94% of whom are in the agricultural sector. Additionally, child labor still affects approximately 4.2 million children aged 5 to 17. If you wish to get involved in our project, you are welcome, whether it be for the short or long term. For the past two years, we have regularly welcomed volunteers of all backgrounds to participate in our project, but also to discover our country, its exceptional wildlife and flora, and to exchange ideas about our culture. I like to show people how they can live on the land sustainably, how they can build their own sustainable homes and grow their own food...., using what is around them, to adapt to their environment and adopt permaculture principals to suit their own needs. I'm looking for mature couples or singles who are travelling around the South West in their Camper Van or Car with tent etc..., basically they need to be mostly self contained. I have some nice camp sites here that are clean, safe and located in a private, natural setting. I will provide access to clean toilet and shower. If you would like to come, stay and help me here, please send me a message ! I can help you with many other things.., I can usually help you locate services or locations that only long time locals will know ! I have lived on my own little permaculture farm beside the Leeuwin/Naturaliste National Park forest since 1982. Some time ago, we moved to the countryside. We built an ecohouse from strawbales. Our homestead is: 1.4ha of honeyberries planted in Spring 2016, 0,1ha of mixed orchard, where we planted old species of fruit trees (apple, pear, plum and cherry trees), 0,01 ha of cranberry and a vegetable garden. We have bio-certification of our farm. In everyday work, we are supported by a dog - Golden Retriever and 2 cats that live with us. In this season we will need help with weeding. 2026 will be a very busy and interesting year. We're eager for more changes on our farm. In the spring, we'll be making changes to the cranberry beds. More comfort and less work later. We'll also be starting a new vegetable garden. We'll be pruning our haskap berry patches a lot. This spring, the first chickens and ducks will arrive, so there will be eggs. Autumn will also bring big changes. New plantings of quince, sea buckthorn, cranberries, currants, and chokeberries. If you're curious and interested, we warmly invi...

I live between a yacht on Sydney Harbour and a house in a tall eucalyptus forest on the mid north coast of NSW, and need some assistance in working on the house and on another yacht. I'm a carpenter who worked with National Parks and Wildlife for 25 years before retiring, and live with a small dog Billy. I've had many helpers come stay over the last few years and have been lucky to have so many interesting travellers stay. My yacht, is currently on the hard at Whoota, where we are renovating her while helping with work on her. I often take helpers out sailing to see the magnificent Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House but this is not possible while she is being worked on. Yet, I hope to invite helpers out when she is back in the water. The house is located in Whoota, near Forster. It is surrounded by forest and located a 10 minute drive from pristine beaches, lakes, and bushwalks. There a lots of dolphins to see and beautiful areas to explore. The work we are doing on the house ...

We have an automotive country workshop where we fix and service cars, 4WDs, trailers, tractors and all sorts of machinery. In our spare time we look after our little farm, some sheep, some cattle and rabbits. We also have a forest where we work and tidy up occasionally. So we are always in need of a couple of helpful hands to support us. We love to get to know different cultures and people. We grow our own meat, fruit and vegetables. Gustav also brews his own beer and makes wine and cider and lately also green tea. A mature, non-smoking, self-organized person, preferable not a vegetarian, to give us a hand with house and land, would fit best into our lifestyle. You will have to join into our daily routines: breakfast is at around 7am and then we feed all the animals, especially the hungry dogs and work starts at 8am. We need to get everyone organized before customers arrive in the workshop. We expect about 4 hours work per day and we offer a nice room with a lovely warm bed, gr...

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

We are Axel and Mônica (both 51). We are living in Portugal and our house with 3000 squaremeters of land is in a small village in the countryside of the beautiful Algarve. We can offer accommodation (bedroom - as you can see on the picture - and separate bathroom for you) and meals of course. Behind the village the mountains start, so here is a lot of nature, the beaches are 30km away. The next town (Messines) is 4km away, the next village about 1km. We need helpers in April/May 2026 for more or less three weeks for some work in our garden.. We prefer a couple or two friends, but if you are a single helper, you can contact us as well. Helpers are very welcome to our house!

Volunteering at this Meditation Centre offers an opportunity to experience first-hand the Buddhist way of life within a vibrant, international community. This place is entirely run by volunteers, our organisation is a not-for-profit registered charity. We are located just south of the English Lake District, situated in 70 acres of woodland and gardens, on the shores of Morecambe Bay. There are many ways in which you can help. For example, serving in the cafe, working in the art studio, helping to prepare guest rooms, cooking, gardening or joining a renovation project and we are always interested to hear about any specific skills you may be able to offer. Take this opportunity to be part of a diverse international community of Buddhist practitioners and volunteers, make lasting connections, and enjoy a meaningful break. Typically you will volunteer Monday to Friday but depending on the activity, it may also include weekends. Whilst these activities are not always strenuous you will...

* Very often one or two of the volunteers works as a handyman and general maintenance worker, and this position can also be paid for the hours in excess of the 25 hours per week. From the reviews of the others you can understand a lot and you can feel what we can share... I speak English, Franch and basic Portugues. Hi ! We are a parish situated in the center of Tuscany. We are in a town, really nice and famous, rich of art and history, not so far from Siena. The name of the town is San Gimignano. In our parish we organized many activities with kids and teenagers. Even if there are many tourists around every day, I really like the idea to give to the more young of the community the possibility to share time and experiences with those who have a different background, different experiences, different languages. For this reason I decided to open our activities to some people of other cities and countries. We organize activities especially in summer for children and teenagers, some activi...

Hola todas! My place is an old grain mill with half a hectare of land. I live here for more than 17 years and hosted many volunteers. Work is mostly in the garden. Weeding, digging, planting, watering, harvesting and off course eating. There is a big cat family living on the land. Help in the kitchen is welcome. Special dietary requirements must be met by the helpers. In the area there are many activities possible. More yoga teachers than there are yoga students. Meditations, dancing, healing, massage, channeling, singing,....! Many communities of all sorts (hippy, midwives, subud, soefie). Hiking in all directions. Even skiing starting beginning of December. I try to keep a healthy environment, so no drugs that cloud your spirit. No dogs either. People mostly stay between one and two weeks. Work is about 5 days a week, 4 hours a day. Food and lodging included. Flexible. Work depends on peoples abilities. Any questions? Always happy to explain! Ruud

I live with my partner Mel and daughters Kenzie (4yrs ) and Emmie (1yr). We are looking for 2 people to help.

We trap predators and remove invasive weeds. You could help with organic/permaculture gardening: vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit trees, chickens, mowing, brush-cutting, compost-maki...

I also have two children, Ochta (32 years old) and Fadlil (12 years old). Ochta can speak English. If ...

Ruud
