I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We live on an organic property with a house, charming old cottage that we Airbnb, extensive vegetable garden, tunnel house, fruit trees and food forest. The property is just outside Carterton. My husband is retired and I work in Wellington. Sometimes our young adult children stay and we have a dog called Charlie. It is rural and peaceful but you can walk or bike to the village which has everything you need. There is a train service to Masterton (15mins) and Wellington (1.5 hours). We can collect you from the station and drop you back when you leave. You can stay with us in the main house where we have a 2 spare rooms with queen sized beds or possibly in the Airbnb if it is not occupied . The number of people we can take depends on whether the cottage is empty. We need help with gardening, cleaning and other tasks for half a day in exchange for accommodation and food but happy to negotiate other arrangements to suit.
