We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. I usually live in Australia with my husband but have returned to Japan to look after my 100-year-old mother at her house in Yokohama, an hours drive south of Tokyo. My husband will soon return to Australia as the fire season is approaching and there are dangers for our house in the forest there (see BLOG and WEBSITE). With only me looking after my mother it is quite intense as I can get little rest, and according to my mother's doctor, the intensity will only increase towards the end of the year. Hello, I live 25 km from Picton in the Marlborough Sounds on the seaside. I am an artist and organic gardener. The views here are spectacular. I feed the bellbirds and Tuis on the deck. Here you are constantly surrounded by native bird song. And can walk and swim daily. Im an artist and I am a handweaver. When you stay I am happy to share these skills and teach you to use a loom. I have 3. You can use my wool or other materials to make yourself a small item. This takes most people about 1 week. Although some are very keen and do it fast! I also paint and draw so you might feel inspiered to join me with that. Bring your own sketchbook but I have some paints you can use - watercolours. There is an outside room with a double and a single bed in it and a composting toilet and a shower. There is also a caravan. I can pick you up in Linkwater which is our closest town although its only a Pub and a petrol station but its on the main Queen Charlotte road half way between Picton and Havelo...

Kia ora, travellers! Haere mai - welcome to my whare (home) in beautiful Honeymoon Valley, surrounded by native rainforest, birds and insects. We built this eco-earth house using local clay from right under our feet. This land used to be just grass, but after 30 years of caring for this whenua, it now has mature trees, orchards, and organic gardens. Life here is peaceful and quiet, perfect for enjoying nature I am part of the local Landcare group, helping protect our native forest, birds, lizards, and insects. We trap predators and remove invasive weeds. You could help with organic/permaculture gardening: vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit trees, chickens, mowing, brush-cutting, compost-making, maintenance and fixing things (basic carpentry, painting), sewing, cleaning, chopping firewood. I bake bread. I make apple cider vinegar, bottle fruit, jam, chutney, sauerkraut, and collect seeds. Permaculture project with idea and space to create an eco-village. The quinta is located in Alto Alentejo 2km from Portalegre. 15 hectares with magical forests and a beautiful valley provided by seventeen sources and several mines with healthy water where too people live permanently for the moment,Isabel, a communication manager and Michel, a carpenter who is the founder of the project. There is also one dog, five cats, for chickens and six sheep. The project is now in the phase when it’s open so that more people can live here. Because parts of the ruins are ready for occupancy, there is space for people who want to stay longer, which can bring new and stronger dynamics throughout the year, not like before, when there was only a lot going on in the summer months. So far there is already a beautiful gardens going on and numerous species of plants, shrubs and trees which deliver us plenty of food. Our family runs a western riding facility with 30 stalls, where we provide horse boarding and training, including reining and cow work. We also have a western saloon, where we host weddings, special events, and are open for our club members on weekends. In return for cleaning out stalls and feeding horses (and the odd other job), we offer room and board, sorry we cannot host vegetarians; we include you in family activities and you have the possibility to improve your riding skills in western riding (cow work and reining) in our 30 x 60 m arena and - how about -learning some line dancing!! A bicycle is available, if you want to explore the near surroundings. We are located close to Switzerland, it`s about a 15 minutes car ride to Basle, and also only about 20 minutes to Germany. Our area is a great tourist region. If you are mature, fit and self-motivated, willing to stay for a minimum of 2 weeks, experienced with handling horses, we would be happy to hear from you!

We run a no-kill animal sanctuary in the beautiful Irish countryside, an hour's drive from Dublin City. We have horses, sheep, goats, hens, geese, ducks, dogs, cats, a pig and a donkey, all rescued from bad situations and now living out their days in peace and comfort with us. We are looking for someone to help with the daily tasks, mostly cleaning up the fields and stables, and walking and playing with some of our dogs. Accommodation and self-prepared meals offered in return for help with taking care of rescue animals. We ask for a minimum stay of four weeks, and even longer would be better! Our last volunteer came for three months and stayed for six! Approximately 25 -30 hours per week of help will be required. Vegetarian food supplied.
