We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. Graham has some woodworking skill but needs help during that time with various tasks and we are willing to give you a comfortable bed, good food and company and access to bathroom and washing machine in exchange for 4 hours help per day, 5 days per week. I usually live in Australia with my husband but have returned to Japan to look after my 100-year-old mother at her house in Yokohama, an hours drive south of Tokyo. My husband will soon return to Australia as the fire season is approaching and there are dangers for our house in the forest there (see BLOG and WEBSITE). With only me looking after my mother it is quite intense as I can get little rest, and according to my mother's doctor, the intensity will only increase towards the end of the year. I worry I will have trouble in the future getting out to do shopping and even my own medical appointments. There is a constant flow of medical professionals coming to the house (nurses, doctor, physiotherapist, dentist, masseuse and social worker), but this does not give me a break as it is important that I am present and alert absorbing any developing insights. Given: i) very positive experiences in Australia with HelpX helpers (see reviews in the WEBSITE), and ii) the fact that the top fl...

We live in a nature sanctuary on Corfu island in Greece. we are a COMMUNITY of PLANTS, ANIMALS AND HUMAN BEINGS, who try to live together IN THE SPIRIT OF NATURE. we are organized similar to a zen monastery. yet we are not affiliated to any religious body, but to the holy body of our mother earth. the earth takes care of us. the earth gives to us what we need. she gives us and she for-gives us – she never asks for money… we admire the communities in nature (ecosystems), where all members balance their needs and gifts in a healthy way, without money, without machines and without chemicals. here in NATURE’S SANCTUARY we try to live in harmony with nature. we try to support and protect all our nature brothers and sisters, who share this sanctuary with us… it is a CHALLENGE TO LIVE IN HARMONY WITH NATURE. it is a challenge to protect and support all nature beings in a way, that they have the chance to live in their own natural born communities. we are looking for people, who want to take...

Hello travelers, I am the proud owner of a historic castle from the 15th century, situated in the middle of the countryside of Burgundy. If the building is habitable as it is, the gardens and grounds require substantial work that I can not carry out alone. The walls need to be stripped of their invasiveness ivy, dry stone walls of the paths are partially collapsed, trails are not passable overgrown, fruit plantations are to be undertaken, etc. ... Accommodation in the castle or in tents, bicycles available, wireless internet. If you have skills in wood or building you are more than welcome. The Next Operation of wood cutting and dry stone walls building is scheduled from 12 till 22 september 2026. We are relatively isolated 10km from shops and 40 minutes north of Dijon. Hi there Traveler We offer a farm stay with great views and good conversation. We chopped down a pine forest and replanted with Manuka about 4 years ago so it’s starting to look really great, and more native birds are about. Established a wetland reserve as well. Also we are developing another small retreat area that needs assistance with tracks and tree management. Some stock work is all so on offer but we will work with you all the time as it’s safer and more fun. cheers and safe travels Geoff and Declan

There is a bush area with a stream meandering through. There is a newly established spray-free orchard, vegetable gardens, and we are trying to include medicinal herb areas.

Hi If you are an experienced builder - experienced gardener or want to work to learn either construction or gardening, then we have a very interesting project to share with you. If you want to learn, then you have to expect to work quite a lot. You will learn by doing, and I will give you a list of tasks that focuses on what you want to learn. If you are experienced and can work on your own, then that is quite a different story. Get in touch and we can get into details having a dialog - much better that way. So, we feel obliged to write this as we do work quite a lot here, and never run out of things to do. As much as we love Help-X for the great people we have meet this way, and the good times it has brought us, and by all means, the people who stayed here up til now has been a great help! But we have some quite specific building tasks we need help with, and it is all very interesting for the right people - and also for me to finally start to finish some of the many ideas that have ...

Hello, I live 25 km from Picton in the Marlborough Sounds on the seaside. I am an artist and organic gardener. The views here are spectacular. I feed the bellbirds and Tuis on the deck. Here you are constantly surrounded by native bird song. And can walk and swim daily. Im an artist and I am a handweaver. When you stay I am happy to share these skills and teach you to use a loom. I have 3. You can use my wool or other materials to make yourself a small item. This takes most people about 1 week. Although some are very keen and do it fast! I also paint and draw so you might feel inspiered to join me with that. Bring your own sketchbook but I have some paints you can use - watercolours. There is an outside room with a double and a single bed in it and a composting toilet and a shower. There is also a caravan. I can pick you up in Linkwater which is our closest town although its only a Pub and a petrol station but its on the main Queen Charlotte road half way between Picton and Havelo...

Kia ora, travellers! Haere mai - welcome to my whare (home) in beautiful Honeymoon Valley, surrounded by native rainforest, birds and insects. We built this eco-earth house using local clay from right under our feet. This land used to be just grass, but after 30 years of caring for this whenua, it now has mature trees, orchards, and organic gardens. Life here is peaceful and quiet, perfect for enjoying nature I am part of the local Landcare group, helping protect our native forest, birds, lizards, and insects. We trap predators and remove invasive weeds. You could help with organic/permaculture gardening: vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit trees, chickens, mowing, brush-cutting, compost-making, maintenance and fixing things (basic carpentry, painting), sewing, cleaning, chopping firewood. I bake bread. I make apple cider vinegar, bottle fruit, jam, chutney, sauerkraut, and collect seeds. The current to-do list includes building a roof in front of the chicken coop and another in front...

Permaculture project with idea and space to create an eco-village. The quinta is located in Alto Alentejo 2km from Portalegre. 15 hectares with magical forests and a beautiful valley provided by seventeen sources and several mines with healthy water where too people live permanently for the moment,Isabel, a communication manager and Michel, a carpenter who is the founder of the project. There is also one dog, five cats, for chickens and six sheep. The project is now in the phase when it’s open so that more people can live here. Because parts of the ruins are ready for occupancy, there is space for people who want to stay longer, which can bring new and stronger dynamics throughout the year, not like before, when there was only a lot going on in the summer months. So far there is already a beautiful gardens going on and numerous species of plants, shrubs and trees which deliver us plenty of food. We are happy when someone shows enthusiasm for the garden because this is a central part...

Sustainable farming is not the only focus we have here, but we are continuously developing ideas and trying new farming methods. We are happy to find people from all over the world who are as motivated as we are to make living in the Arctic more sustainable. Organic methods: In the summer time, when we enjoy 24 hour sunshine, we grow our plants in greenhouses without the use of any chemical/artificial fertilizers....

Our family runs a western riding facility with 30 stalls, where we provide horse boarding and training, including reining and cow work. We also have a western saloon, where we host weddings, special events, and are open for our club members on weekends. In return for cleaning out stalls and feeding horses (and the odd other job), we offer room and board, sorry we cannot host vegetarians; we include you in family activities and you have the possibility to improve your riding skills in western riding (cow work and reining) in our 30 x 60 m arena and - how about -learning some line dancing!! A bicycle is available, if you want to explore the near surroundings. We are located close to Switzerland, it`s about a 15 minutes car ride to Basle, and also only about 20 minutes to Germany. Our area is a great tourist region. If you are mature, fit and self-motivated, willing to stay for a minimum of 2 weeks, experienced with handling horses, we would be happy to hear from you!

Experience Sanctuary Life in a Bowl of Mountains, near Glenorchy At the edge of Precipice Creek, where native beech forests meet the wide landscapes of Paradise Valley, lies BROOMHILL Sanctuary — a family home and regenerative living ecosystem surrounded by alpine beauty. This is a place shaped through relationship: with the land, the seasons, the plants, the food we grow and the people who choose to participate. Here, life moves at a slower rhythm. The mountains, forests, weather and gardens invite us to observe, adapt and reconnect with what truly sustains us. An Invitation to Participate, Learn and Share: BROOMHILL offers an immersive experience in regenerative living, food growing and ecological stewardship. Helpers join us through practical participation — tending gardens, caring for food forests, supporting seasonal projects, sharing meals and becoming part of the daily rhythm of this place. Our preference is for a single person or couple who have some skil...

We are Sunny from China and Jeff from New York and we live in a small town in Oklahoma called Olustee of about 500 people. Nearby is a city called Altus of 19,000 people with stores, bars, restaurants and entertainment. You are invited to our place, either just to visit or to stay and help out. We have 4 bedrooms for travelers and helpers in our guest house available for you (can accommodate probably up to 10 people) and there is also a game room, swimming pool (in the summer) and basketball court on the property. We also have campgrounds with a fire pit and tents. We would like help with cleaning of guest rooms, cooking, painting of walls and murals, some light construction work (very simple, you don't need to know anything), fixing bicycles for the neighborhood kids as well as maintaining the pool (in the summer). We have been doing this for about 15 years now and had guests from all over the world stay with us. We can show you around this part of Oklahoma and you are welcome to expl...

It is our mission to provide visitors from all over the world with an authentic experience of the unique atmosphere and culture of our home in Canada’s far North. As a well-established tourism company, we are diversifying our impacts and create a more resilient business. Doing this is not only fulfilling our long-term mission of developing a self-sustaining Arctic Eco-Village, but also investigating innovative solutions to major obstacles facing communities in the North: food and housing insecurity, decolonizing our economy, capacity development and cultural revitalization.

We run a no-kill animal sanctuary in the beautiful Irish countryside, an hour's drive from Dublin City. We have horses, sheep, goats, hens, geese, ducks, dogs, cats, a pig and a donkey, all rescued from bad situations and now living out their days in peace and comfort with us. We are looking for someone to help with the daily tasks, mostly cleaning up the fields and stables, and walking and playing with some of our dogs. Accommodation and self-prepared meals offered in return for help with taking care of rescue animals. We ask for a minimum stay of four weeks, and even longer would be better! Our last volunteer came for three months and stayed for six! Approximately 25 -30 hours per week of help will be required. Vegetarian food supplied. Accommodation is in a modern mobile home, two bedrooms, one bathroom with shower and toilet, living room and kitchen. Situated in a rural location in Co. Kildare, with spectacular views of the Wicklow mountains. There is limited WiFi, it's not ve...
