(La description en français se trouve plus bas !) We are a small Buddhist community living in the forest close to Sainte-Julienne, Quebec. We have an organic fruit tree nursery, along with many other projects on our land: several fruit orchards, chickens and bees, growing our own vegetables and herbs and trying to be independent in many ways. The six people who are staying are: Ajan, Eric, Veronique, Elisabeth, Natalie and Camille. Each of us have arrived here one by one, at first just interested in helping out in the place, and then as we found that this lifestyle was for us, deciding to stay for longer. For part of the year we also have a couple of employees staying with us. There is also a wonderful dog named Dali. Our organic nursery and garden occupies a land of 9 hectares, surrounded by forest. As well as the main land of the nursery, we have another smaller land where a few of us live. This is, in fact, where the community started to grow from very small beginnings in the ear...

We would like to hear from you if you are travelling through Central Otago and want to experience a stay well away from the tourist towns. On the 45th Parallel, at the base of the Dunstan Mountains is the remains of a tiny town from the gold rush days. Just a few properties remain, and help needed with a range of restoration jobs - mainly painting and mud brick repair. Also, so many tasks associated with running rural properties including animal care and lots of great dogs to walk in the most fabulous countryside. Pippa is the primary host. Having hosted over 1000 volunteers successfully, through various platforms at our previous property (Solve Sanctuary), I know how to make sure that people get matched to tasks they are keen to engage with and that suits the level of challenge you want. I love to welcome travelers to join in our projects and value the variety of skills and enthusiasm you bring. We have moved here to enjoy the very simple life, big skies, high country, ultra fresh a...

The days are starting to get longer. Looking forward to spring. There are plenty of signs that it is not far away. We have availability beginning of September. We are a small family: 2 teenagers, 3 dogs, 1 cat, 3 cows, sheep, ducks, geese and chickens. We live in Hira on a rural lifestyle of 4 hectors. We raise chicks and ducks for meat and eggs. This is the time of year when winter is on its way out so there is lots to do in the garden. There have also been some crazy storms & rainfall so there is woodland to be tidied and firewood to be managed. Other projects include: Sorting compost, Processing firewood from trees all felled ready for sorting, chipping, splitting and stacking, fencing &...

We live on a 5 acre hobby farm in the beautiful Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania. Our family consists of three young adult children (two live at home), two horses, many chickens, ducks, geese, goats and two gorgeous dogs. We grow organic vegetables and breed heritage chickens in an attempt to be more sustainable. Jobs involve general gardening, helping with the animals and housekeeping. If you would like a Tassie small farm experience message us with some details of the work you have previously done. We have separate accommodation, with a bathroom. All our HelpXers have loved working and living with us and I hope you will too (please remember Tassie is a cold place in winter). There are many areas of natural beauty in Southern Tasmania which are all fairly close to us. For example, the Hartz mountains, Hastings Caves and the Tahune Airwalk. We live close to a sleepy village called Cygnet and Hobart is only a 40min drive away. (Unfortunately we can't approve 2nd year visas)

Kia ora, travellers! Haere mai - welcome to my whare (home) in beautiful Honeymoon Valley, surrounded by native rainforest, birds and insects. We built this eco-earth house using local clay from right under our feet. This land used to be just grass, but after 30 years of caring for this whenua, it now has mature trees, orchards, and organic gardens. Life here is peaceful and quiet, perfect for enjoying nature. I am part of the local Landcare Group, protecting our native forest, birds, lizards, and insects. We trap predators and remove invasive weeds. You can help with landcare work and organic/permaculture gardening: vegetables, fruit trees, chickens, mowing, brush-cutting, compost-making, maintenance and fixing things (basic carpentry, painting), sewing, cleaning, chopping firewood. I bake bread. I make apple cider vinegar, bottle fruit, jam, chutney, sauerkraut, and collect seeds. The current to-do list includes building a roof in front of the chicken coop and another in front of...

We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned 15 years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 13 and 10) with 3 dogs/chickens/guinea pigs. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area. People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Helpers stay in either a fifteen by eight foot caravan with solar power...

2026 UPDATE* Seeking motivated person/couple interested in large scale gardening, firewood/ stipend We're a farm and homestead community situated in the scenic Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. A family farm for 2 generations, we grow fruit and vegetables in our garden and greenhouse, wild berries, fruit trees, and Christmas trees. Tasks may include: weeding, planting, harvesting and helping to sell produce. We're offering off grid accommodation to an individual (or couple) interested in hospitality and light farming/grounds maintenance/recreational trail building. In the past this arrangement has allowed caretakers time for part or full time work. Tasks are fully focused on gardening and grounds keeping and showing guests into the property. The area offers excellent opportunities for seasonal employment with the National Park, adventure programs and dining establishments close by. - - - - - The homestead is located just a few miles west of Acadia National Park, in downeast Maine. We're inviting visitors to enjoy our properties forested, quiet scenery. Please be prepared to devote 10 hours per week. Hi, my name is Ian and my wife Kylyn and I live in Wentworth Falls with our 3 kids (11, 13 & 16). We are looking for some willing helpers to camp out (or park your campervan/caravan) at our Campground in Katoomba (16 Acres) to do some bush regeneration and targeted weeding of identified noxious weeds that the local council want us to remove. The deal is free camping for 1hr of work/day/group (up to 2 campers). The work is on easy terrain. This is flexible time e.g. if you want to do 3hrs on one morning, then you don't do anything on the next 2 days etc. It will be like camping in a National Park Campground with a toilet facility (Composting) and a funky BYO water Hot Shower. You will need to be self-sufficient with sourcing water, showering and managing your rubbish. There is a service station about 1.5km away where you can collect your free water. We provide a 20L water container to help with this process. One benefit of camping on private property as opposed to a NP is that you a...

We live in a beautiful log home on a large property, surrounded by big vegetable and flower gardens. We have a pond, canoes and bicycles and a serene and bird filled ambience that is extremely peaceful and healing. My husband and I are going on a wilderness canoe trip to the Yukon and the most important task here at home is to take care of our 20 year old dog Pixie. She is a husky cross, she is extraordinary in that she goes for long walks each day and is full of love. Still at her age she makes sure everyone is counted outside at home. She sleeps maybe 18 hours a day in her dog bed on the porch. The most important task is to take her for a walk a day, feed her every night and fill her water bowls. We need someone to live in the house so that she feels someone is home and watching her while she watches them. We have a room with a queen size bed for those who come stay here. One young woman, or 2 young women would be preferred. Pixie is a woman's dog. I have sprinklers set up ...

Hello, we are Cat and Silvan, who is 6 years old. We live on an organic permaculture farm in the Pyrenees in the south of France. The property is situated in a small hamlet of 8 houses bordering a wild forest including chestnut, ash, oak, acacia and cherry. We grow much of our own fruit and vegetables and collect hazelnuts, walnuts, mushrooms and wild herbs from the forest. I cut my own wood and much of the wood used in the construction has been harvested from the land. We have 5 goats and friends graze their horses during the summer months. I enjoy eating fresh food from the garden and like to be creative with dishes with what can be sourced locally rather than necessarily going to a big supermarket. We buy locally and organic where possible to supplement what we have in the garden. When there are more of us here we often do a rotation of cooking, which is great as we get to taste each others variations and be inspired. If you are not confident in cooking don't worry, it is a gre...

We live on an alternative lifestyle block with "off grid", barn living. On the property we have a small organic banana farm which uses permaculture design principles and composted food waste from City to Farm — an initiative that gathers food scraps from urban areas and delivers them to nearby farms. We have horses, dogs, chickens, and graze cattle regeneratively. For accommodation we have a big barn space which can house a lot of people comfortably. Currently one young kiwi staying there. Where possible we grow and eat our own fruit and veges from our vege garden and our small grove of fruit trees. We also have 15 acres of regenerated native bush on our property which needs tending to. Our water is supplied from rain water, and a natural spring, and the property runs on solar. Meals will be vegetarian, happy to accommodate vegans as well! Most of your work will be in the bananas, but there will also be the opportunity to work with the animals, in the bush, in the vege garden/orchar...

We also graze sheep and cows. We pretty much grow all our own fruit and veg for seasonal eating and winter storage. Our heating is via managed woodland and solar and our water is via rain water and the River Teal. We have two properties and a pool to manage. So there is always something to do!

Meals will be vegetarian, happy to accommodate vegans as well! Most of your work will be in the bananas, but there will also be the opportunity to work with the animals, in the bush, in the vege garden/orchar...
