Animal sanctuary for donkeys, horses, ponies & chickens. Help needed around the sanctuary with mucking out, feeding, caring for the chickens, & maintenance of existing buildings. My place is a farm sanctuary for seriously abused and unwanted animals, I’ve been running the sanctuary for over 8 years. I primarily care for donkeys & a small number of horses but have rescued a large number of rescue cats saved from the streets. We need your help to care for them on a daily basis, this will include feeding and watery as well as some small medical procedures. I offer private rooms, 2 doubles & one single, and some storage for clothes, There’s a private indoor shower, toilet and washing machine. A shared indoor kitchen with hob and fridge. There’s an old range in the kitchen which provides a heat source when lit, & can be used as an oven. I provide all the bedding which is changed weekly but sadly not towels. We live in an old farmhouse within a village, the houses were built over one hun...

We live in a beautiful small hamlet nestled in the hills of central Portugal. There are four houses which until recently lay abandoned for 60 years. The river Pera runs through the valley (with some great swimming spots) and a spring delivers our drinking water. We, Miguel and Shobha, live here with our twelve year old son, Saul, and nine year old daughter, Anaya, and are restoring part of the hamlet and reclaiming the land. We run a syntropic agriculture reforestation project and provide a retreat and workshop space. Helpers are needed for a vast array of tasks! These include landscaping, clearing, cleaning, cooking, gardening, tree-felling, pointing, dry-wall restoration, helping take care of guests when we have retreats running ... and more! Accomodation is either in tipis, domes or a self-contained room. The set up is basic but comfortable. We have a solar set up for electricity & wifi. We will also provide 3 nourishing meals. We ask for 5 hours work per day, 5 days a week, plus...

The permaculture project and the Farm develop in the social, historical and urban fabric of the town of Modica (RG), mainly between the Fontana, Dente and Pennino districts. We actively collaborate with other projects in the province, from which we learn a lot. We live a sober, frugal, healthy life. We follow, in a somewhat radical way, the ethics of Permaculture and many of its principles. After a period of training in horticulture and spiritual reconnection in the Loire in a Sōtō Zen temple, a PDC at Il Filo di Paglia (Comiso) and two years of agricultural experiences of the most varied in south-eastern Sicily, we feel ready to open ourselves to volunteers , willing and passionate who want to live, share and exchange within in this vibrant and beautiful setting. The Mediterranean Sea is just 20 minutes by train (Sampieri train station). We've got a 17th century house for the project (Oct. 2022), quite abandoned for more than one year: Plenty of work has been already done, some mino...

**For fast response please contact mobile through WhatsApp/ Telegram. We're on the island of La Palma, west of Tenerife, reachable by direct flights and boats and cheap connections from Tenerife or mainland Spain. Ask for travel advice! I travelled on a low budget for several years throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and parts of Africa often working in seasonal positions, like in fruit orchards, to sustain my travels. I began to spend more and more time in many wonderful places though volunteering in farms and eventually I came to the decision that I wanted to create a little Eden too; Somewhere I didn't have to leave and where I could put my own personal roots in the ground and see how I grew. The project is still in it's infancy but has some young trees in the ground and there is an Almond orchard already established. I am aiming for a sustainable project that positively impacts the environment, creating a food forest, using some permaculture principles and local i...

I have a beautiful home on the ridge in Elanora on the Gold Coast, South East Queensland, Australia. It is in a Koala sanctuary, surrounded by bush and wildlife. Often you will see wallabies grazing in the back yard, and if you are patient, also koala’s in the trees. You definitely will hear them in the evenings even if you do not see them! There are plenty of bush walks around my house for you to explore the native wildlife. In my opinion (and many helpers that I have hosted) my offer is a great opportunity to live in a very special part of the Gold Coast. The property is set in bushland but is only five (5) minutes drive to Currumbin Beach and close to other beaches and Shopping Centres. The Pines Shopping Centre is the closest to my home and provides all that you would need. I have found most helpx people are not into large shopping centres and prefer beaches and wilderness which my property has in spades. Couples, singles or friends are welcome just let me know if you are...

I am looking for people that are passionate about dogs and like to spend time and work with dogs. A pack of 24 huskies is something different than having a pet dog at home. You will be able to join our animal assisted programs with kids and young adults and learn about it. I am educated in dog physiotherapy as well and there is the possibility to learn in this field as well. Beside the main topic the huskies we have bee hives and produce our own honey. There is a big garden with fruits and vegetables that needs maintainance. To sum it up our work here is mainly outdoors with nature and animals. Every day is different so its not possible to give you a long term daily structure in advance. There are some everyday tasks in the dogcare but the rest of the work depends on the weather and the season. As we live in a small village the main freetime activities are biking and hiking. More freetime options you find in cities around in your days off. Vienna is quite close and its possible to ta...

We are in the process of renovating an old house in the Pyrenees. There is only decorating to do such as stripping paint of walls and woodwork, and repainting. There might be the occasional carpentry to do also, nothing too complicated. We need help 5 hours per day, five days per week. Weeding, pruning trees, making paths. We are looking for help from two strong and healthy individuals to assist with a house redecorating project and gardening, trimming trees, path making etc. This requires physical strength and stamina. Please note, we cannot host anyone with any pre existing health issues, physical or mental (we are not medically trained to manage such conditions). We live in a small village with some shops and a climbing centre and a river just opposite the house. We have a quite a size garden where we grow vegetables, fruit bushes and trees. Here, we have spectacular mountain views on our doorstep, hiking trails through the mountains and forests, cycling paths, and skiing in the...

Bonjour! We are Maeva, 38 and Joel, 53 and since 2018, we live in a peaceful location in rural France, surrounded with nature. Still, we are only an 8-minute drive from the little town of Chantonnay, where you can find any commodities you may need. Please take some time to read our profile carefully before responding, so you fully appreciate what this role includes, and please then contact us if you are interested in finding out more. We will be happy to chat with you via Skype/Zoom, to answer any questions you might have, to hear about your previous volunteering experiences, for us to get to know each other a bit. Aside from our jobs (Maeva in finance and Joel as trainer in the automotive field) we also run a "gîte" here (kind of vacation rental) and our goal is to provide a place where guests can reconnect with nature, relax, and enjoy simple yet beautiful things. We love meeting new people from different backgrounds and we also value time alone. So, if you are looking for a kind ...

We have a lovely small holding which is half broadleaved woodland, half pasture, with a stream running right by the house, 2 ponds, large veggie garden, orchard, greenhouse, sheep and a dog. (See photos below of a recent volunteer with one of our lambs and also help-xers cleaning out the pond!) We would like help with woodland management, gardening, preparation and maintenance of grazing land, weeding, planting, harvesting, general maintenance, perhaps light decorating, ironing when it's raining....and whatever crops up! There may occasionally be some work with our sheep and sometimes looking after our adorable dog! We expect some help around the house such as washing up after dinner and perhaps cooking the occasional meal. We offer accommodation in a refurbished 16th century cottage which is connected to the main house (see photo of room below). This will mean help-xers have their own sleeping & bathroom area tho' occasionally we may have other guests staying. You will see fr...

Animal Rescue and Sanctuary and Organic Vegan Farm in Central Costa Rica Hello everyone! What we do: We take care of animals, we grow organic food, we prepare and eat tasty vegan meals, we minimize our impact on the earth, and we enjoy the company of our Costa Rican friends and neighbors. We have run a volunteer program for over 18 years, and have had several hundred people come to work with us! Our farm is primarily an animal rescue, rehab and sanctuary. Our doors are open to animals in need. We currently have five rescue dogs, six goats, a pig, a horse, two cats, and two water buffalos. Some came off the streets, some were abandoned, others were injured and no longer wanted. We adopt out what we can, but most are retired and happy to live their lives on the farm. The 3.5 hectare property is covered with many tropical fruit trees, including water apple, mandarin orange, banana (many varieties), guayaba, guanabana, cas, caimito, lime, nance, coffee and araza. Depending on the se...

Twelve years ago we took a chance on a bareland croft. Empty but for bog, rock, bracken, grassland, heather, wild flowers and trees. We spent long winters in a caravan while we watched our children outgrow the space and started to bring the land back into use. We now produce vegetables and eggs, and have built a family home. We are working towards producing more food for ourselves and to sell locally, while working with nature. Between May and September we are looking for one or two helpers who can be with us for a week or two at a time. Longer stretches may be possible. We ask helpers to work for 20 hours a week. The rest of the time is yours to enjoy this beautiful island and to get to know this welcoming island community. We have two main area of work:- - One is taking care of our organic vegetable garden, with some croft land management such as digging out brambles, bracken management and feeding the chickens. - The other is helping us to put up a deer fence around the whole cro...

Hello! We are Charlotte (USA) and Christian (Ecuador), and we have an Ecoculturual Finca outside of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Ecuador. The Finca is about 8 hectares of hilly jungle, filled with cacao, banana, avocado, papaya, coffee, bamboo, sugar cane, and other tropical fruit trees. Christian started this project in 2012 to create a community of people who want to live consciously and in harmony with the natural world. We believe sustainability has an environmental component (we eat vegetarian, use composting toilets, minimize waste, use resources we have on the finca, etc), but that it also has a cultural component; infusing art, cultural exchange, genuine connection, music, inter-generational sharing, and creative problem solving into daily life is important to living sustainably! The hope is that by starting small, by living well on the finca, we can spread an environmental consciousness to our surrounding community, and hopefully beyond. Accommodations: Volunteers stay in ...

Helpers are needed mid-September to mid-March and NOT mid-March to mid-September. Most work here is of the off-season Autumn/Winter kind. And over the summer our variable schedules mean it is not feasable to plan hosting helpx people. I have spent over 20 years turning my 1.3 coastal and exposed acres into woodland and varied habitats. I now need some Autumn/Winter/Spring help with pruning, and then dealing with the cutting up and moving of larger pieces and mulching smaller pieces in mulching machine, as well as cutting back briars, I would be mostly working alongside and giving direction. There may be some harvesting of fruits, nuts and acorns. There is a small vegetable plot that may need some care. There is also the possibility of minding feeding and walking 2 dogs if I go away for a night or two. I offer self-contained accommodation in a little studio on the property for one week. 2 -3 hours helping per day for 5 days, and then 2 days for you to explore and use the cabin as a b...

Derek and Kelly here - hailing from South Africa we've lived in Queensland for 4 years and recently relocated to beautiful, cold, remote and super friendly Tasmania! We're city folk who've recently purchased our rural home on 4ha / 8 acres. 15 minutes from Scottsdale (a good sized small town), 30 min to seaside Bridport, 40 min to Launceston and a gorgeous drive to seaside St Helens. 5 min to Bridestowe lavender farm (in bloom December & January) There's minimal public transport with a daily bus into and out from Launceston close by so own transport is recommended if you would like to sight see and tour Tassie. We have a queen sized bed for you (single or couple) a shared bathroom, kitchen, living area and outside deck An indoor fireplace and one on the patio outside for cold days. Our cat owns the home, our chickens lay eggs regularly and we're working on our relationship with our sheep. We are learning as we go so not super organised and no heap of fancy equipment to do the j...

Our next availability is from early March. We are Joanna and Charlie and we live in the Cambridgeshire countryside, sharing our home much of the time with visiting dogs. If you love dogs, the countryside and quiet family life we are the place to visit. We are close to Cambridge but as the last bus is at 7.15 pm not easily accessible if you want a wild nightlife. We offer a comfortable room and good food in exchange for the congenial company of reliable, cheerful dog-lovers who are willing to undertake a range of tasks such as gardening, cleaning etc Our 2 daughters after time spent travelling (and Helpxing) are now both living in London (one of them spent a year studying in Japan) so our household usually consists of two people and various dogs. I often have dogs to stay, so you need to be relaxed and happy around dogs.We go for long walks with the dogs every day so there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the countryside. I enjoy cooking and I am happy to show you how t...

We need volunteers for lambing season until starting mid of April. Come help us lamb all of our sheep and experience the wonders of life! Assist over 500 sheep in giving birth and bottle feed tiny little lambs and all the other disgusting and cute things that go along with it. Lambing season is hard work and we work in shifts of 9 hours, but with 5-10 volunteers living in the house you’ll have time for fun in the sun, 2 days off each week with a household shift (cooking and cleaning). Lambing truly is a once in a lifetime experience and a great opportunity to learn about farming, sheep, and Iceland in general. The shifts are long, the days are longer, but a rewarding and satisfying experience is waiting for you! Message us on WhatsApp or on HelpX. My WhatsApp number is above. Send me (Caroline, who runs the HelpX) a message! You can also message the farmer directly via my Facebook link below, named after Beggi the farmer's cat! Profile picture is of a cat as well! Where to start? W...

We are in our 50's, couple, owners of a permacultural orchard. We are located in a charming landscape of hamlets situated at the frontier between Slovakia and Morava. It is picturesque and replenished with fine views. The White Carpatians Nature Reserve protects the original woods on the flanks of Veľká Javorina the tallest mountain of this mountain range. We love to have friends around. We run workshops and cultural activities there. You can be a part of it. We grow a traditional fruit orchard. We planted over fruit 65 trees and bushes. We have sheep in the orchard. We often organise activities with volunteers there. If you are ready to participate at the hard work in the country, be our guest. We will share with you our interest in arts, nature, music & good food. What we are planning to do: 1) Cleaning our big barn and attic in the house. 2) We are after a big reconstruction of the house, so we still clean the surrounding. 3) Work in the garden and orchard. 4) Art projects wi...

Hi, First our next gap is from February 26, and to introduce ourselves, I am the Chef and Noel is the Gardner, together we have created beautiful gardens and a small farm restaurant about 40 minutes from Hobart. We have learnt a lot after losing everything to a bushfire 11 years ago, when we started on our project to generate an income from the property, and now, we have built a small but modest seasonal restaurant! We are open to the possibility of a top-up payment for your hours above the basic HelpX commitment. this can only be discussed after we get to know each other first and is based upon your skills. We are flexible with hours and like you to have time out to explore our region which is truly amazing, we will help with transport when possible. I like to cook seafood and meat dishes, and whatever we can source from the garden. Thanks for reading about us. We wish you well for your travels and HelpX experiences. Cheers, Mike and Noel.

Yassas ! So, we got this little piece of paradise. It is perfect as it is, so what we are about is to just make it more welcoming and playful, have fun while working on it, and all this time keeping it natural and harmonious. It isnt a business, but a playground. And so we gather a small eclectic team twice a year to work the land, its perfect as it is, but there is a vision, a place we can camp and cultivate facilities gradually while enjoying time together, doing, eating, chatting and chilling on the beach. *** The 9th round of Camp Plaka will take place spring 2025, for about 3 weeks starting around April - May, read all the way through and only then contact me for exact dates *** The kind of projects we do (an endless list that grows faster than we knock it out) : Always pushing back the rebel wild bramble bush to free more olive/lemon trees from its tyranny, fixing terraces, digging a chillout pool, finish the design of the compost toilet, plant the garden already and some ne...

We are offering travelers a warm, comfortable two-story Celery Top Pine Pole home we built ourself. You will enjoy magical views of the ocean and mountain and will wake to the sounds of the wild birds that flock to our food and water bowls. We are regularily visited by possums, wallaby's and various other wildlife. If you're lucky you may even see a Tasmanian Devil. We aspire to a sustainable way of living and adore our large established organic garden, which we are needing help with maintaining. We ask helpers to provide a minimum of 4.5 hrs of work each day for 5 days with two full days off. If you would like a day off after working a few days we ask you to make up the hours on other days. We are also very flexible and happy to listen to your requests. Previous gardening experience is essential as well as cooking/helping with evening meals, household duties, and other jobs as required. This is a great chance to experience life in the real Australian bush with a group of other young people from all over the world, in a safe, healthy, fun environment. We are located in a beautiful setting surrounded by over 20 thousand acres of National Park, and have lots of native animals on site. This is a non-profit Christian camp & conference centre located just 2 hours south of Sydney on 300 spectacular acres in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW. We have been established for over 30 years. Each year we host camps for schools, scouts, youth, church and community groups. Several thousand guests stay here each year, and we often have volunteers staying with us who often stay friends for life and come back again and again. We are seeking a small number of volunteers to help us in exchange for food, accommodation & use of our awesome guest facilities. Typically you would be working an average of 5 to 6 hours per day, less on some days more on others. We usually start early...

This is our first time on Helpx, but we have already welcomed more than 200 volunteers from all over the world and we are excited to meet you! (Our Worldpackers website has 64 reviews and a 5 star rating so please do not shy to apply as we are new on this site in particular!). Please note that we normally ask you to stay for at least four weeks, as this works best for the farm and the volunteers! Would you like to work with kids, teenagers and Korean families? What about learning a little bit about farming, agriculture and living in the countryside of South Korea? Sounds fun? If so, you’re welcome to visit and stay with us for a while as a volunteer. More than just volunteers, everyone who comes to our farm also became part of our family. We’ve been learning and growing a lot because of all the people who worked or have been working side by side with us. We feel extremely grateful and because of that we also want to provide the best experience that our volunteers can have. Once you ...

You will like it here! We are a little lively community of 4 persons (64,65,70,73), 1 friendly dog and 2 playful cats and we live in a cosy house surrounded by a garden. Our children are on their own, but they sometimes visit us. We raise our own organic vegetables in several raised beds and normal garden beds. There is always something to do in the garden and around the house or walking the dog, cleaning windows and so on... We live in a small rural village in the beautiful hills of the "Odenwald". Our village is located roughly between Heidelberg and Frankfurt, also Mannheim and Darmstadt can be visited easily. There is a good public transportation to all these cities. The Odenwald is a famous hiking region and ideal for mountain biking, a bike is available. There is a climbing rock not far from our house. We speak English quite fluently and some French. There are several medieval towns and castles around with beautiful historic buildings. We try to bring some permacultural aspect...

A room is available for your homestay. Because of the helps I would like to ask, those who have enough experience/knowledge of handling house holding chores and cooking are welcome. No problem if you cannot cook Japanese dishes. Vegetarian is welcome only from summer to autumn. It's easy to talk about next step of your homestay if how long from when, how you can help, what you want to do during homestay in addition to help works are written in your request. I'm a 66 years old male and have a small private organic vegetable garden. I am happy if someone can help me to maintain vegetable garden and household chores including cooking. I also can enjoy helping my guest to learn Japanese language. We can visit at sightseeing places/aesthetic landscape when we have free time. At the same time, I'm interested to hear your stories about helpx and learn foreign languages as well as yoga and massage. My house has natural hot spring so that you are free to enjoy onsen together as well a...

The shopping centre and bus stops are close by, 15 minutes to the city of Hobart and 5 mins to ...
