Old house with cats, crafts and vegetables garden in Alfeizerão ……………………. I offer accommodation in an old house in a small village, with some rescued street cats. Basic amenities and hygiene, 2 bathrooms, individual or shared room, kitchen access. Washing machine, dishwasher, and 24-hour Wi-Fi. Help needed 5h/day, 5 days/week, in the morning, in between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Near bus stop and 30 or 40 minutes walk to the beach and train station. ………………….. The idea is to take care of the general maintenance of the house, look after the animals and the garden, and assist with crafts. It's important to try to contribute to environmental preservation by saving and reusing water, using minimal paper (especially toilet and kitchen paper), being mindful of energy consumption, and avoiding food waste. Due to being an old house, it may not be suitable for people with respiratory problems, and the water in the bathroom might not always be very hot, but I hope the rest of the stay makes up for these ...

Please read our profile carefully, and see our website and instagram. If you feel you are the right person or people for us, we look forward to receiving your application. This is a permaculture small farm on the edge of Violet Town, just 800m from the train station. The farm is well established, as most tree planting was done between 1996 and 2000, and the tree crops are well maintained and productive. We have a large established fruit and nut orchard, an olive grove, vegetable gardens, chickens, milking goats, bees, forestry for shelter and timber, and large dam for irrigation and swimming. Our house is made of timber and mud brick, and we catch our own water. Most of our food comes from the house garden and farm, including a huge range of fresh fruit all year round, a range of vegetables for each season, honey, cheese, olive oil, table olives, and home killed or hunted meat. We eat shared meals, most meals are vegetarian. Type of jobs: farm and garden work, combined with learni...

My property is 10 hectares on the West Coast of the South Island, which starts at the coast with sand beach and sunsets and heads inland 1km through native wetlands and forest. Approximately 20km from Westport, 1km from Tauranga Bay! Public transport is limited? I'm a Certified Plumber and Drainlayer by trade but recently retired to work on property (next stage of life!) I have hosted many people through Couchsurfing over the years! Helpx is a new concept for me I purchased the property which is in need of a lot of work to tidy up, contouring/fencing/and planting trees etc. I'm now into planting out and setting up orchard also clearing introduced plants and replanting with natives. Current projects are building a new cottage for myself which is at the internal painting stage! and similar 2-bedroom cottage as a guest house which is at the internal lining and painting stage! both will be total off grid power and water supply. Next on the list is building a hot house and shade house I'...

NB - just in case you don't get to the end of the profile - we are vegetarian (mostly) - and we don't take picky eaters. - or smokers. We are terracing a steep section (with an amazing view), developing a fernery and planting out an orchard and native hedges. There are fantails and keruru in abundance. Though the development is sometimes hard work, it`s creative and fun. We are getting there but we could do with a bit of help from strong fit people whose knees can handle walking up and down a steep garden - usually with a load on.. We also have work repairing and painting garden furniture. We prefer hosting a couple or 2 friends who are keen gardeners - or have carpentry or brick laying skills - to help with garden maintenance. We also have a couple of hard-landscaping projects involving path construction and maintenance. Ideally, we would like people who are able to work with minimal supervision, who take pride in their work and want to do a job well, who are self-motivated, have ...

This is an off-grid homestay with an established biodynamic garden of around 30 years. The lifestyle here is slow and close to earth, jobs and activities vary according to season and weather. Work here includes general gardening, firewood, fixing jobs or help in the kitchen. I'm asking for about four hours work per day in exchange for accommodation and organic meals (vegetarian). You have a private sleepout in a cute cabin in the garden which has a futon but requires you to bring your own bedding (sheet/sleeping bag). The cabin has no electricity, I suggest bringing a headtorch as well. The property is close to beaches and waterfalls; the Great Ocean Walk and Apollo Bay (25km). I have bikes available on request but your own transport is almost essential, since public buses operate on only two days a week. A pick up from Apollo Bay can be arranged though. If you would like to come and stay please contact me via phone (0490798522) since I don't use the computer very often. Two days into ...

Hi, we are looking for one or two keen, healthy helpers to work with us on a range of tasks. It is BERRY SEASON and it would be great to have some extra help🌻 All your meals are provided and we eat together to plan our day. The food is tasty vegetarian and we are happy to cater for vegans. Your accommodation is in a private and comfortable converted shipping container/tiny home and WIFI is available at main house. You need to commit to one week however you could stay longer if all are agreed. Helpers with some skills are welcome but an actual interest in experiencing a more sustainable life during your stay with us is more important. We don't take bookings in advance but if you are ready to come help now or soon contact us. Please tell us what skills you have, your interests and WHY you selected our place when you apply. We have a small berry orchard and vegetable gardens with roaming Guinea fowl, friendly kangaroos and our cute indoor house cats. The rest of the property is natura...

We have a beautiful private guest studio available for the rest of 2024 and we need help cleaning up our land which is overgrown. We have a small farm of a dozen different types of fruit trees and also egg laying hens. Hi, we occasionally host Helpex travellers throughout the year, depending upon what we are doing. We are a family of four (however our 2 adult children are now living elsewhere), and two cats, and sometimes a hive of bees. Our house is on 5500 square metres (1.3 acres) of land with half of that in bush, on the North Shore in Greenhithe overlooking, Whenuapai, Kumeu and the upper Waitamata Harbour. The main Greenhithe bus stop is about ten minutes walk away. By car, driving to the centre of Auckland takes about 15-20 minutes. We have free Wi-Fi. The local supermarket is 2km away. Unfortunately the pool is not working at the moment as there was leak in the skimmer box which has now been fixed but we will not be filling it until the new year after a small amount of plastering. We provide accommodation and three meals a day. We request in return four hours work. The work will involve, gardening, maintenance and sometimes a bit of building work. Regards Ken and Suzanne

I can't see the world, but the world can come see me. First and foremost, I want to thank all the helpers who came from United Kingdom-England, France, Belgium, Italy, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Welcome Helpers. We are a family of 5 living in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. Sue is the founder of Peaceful Hollow. Also, there is an private guestroom with private entrance on the second floor above the workshop/cabin combination. . We have a lot you can be involved in, knowledge to share, friendships to build, and opportunities for growth. Below are our routines and some projects. Kia Ora. I run an Angora goat farm just outside Oxford in North Canterbury. I have 180 very cute goats which I shear for fibre twice per year. I also run smaller numbers of sheep. I farm in a sustainable way and have been trialling some regenerative agricultural practices. I am a keen outdoors person, love walking and climbing and often take helpers tramping, sightseeing, rock climbing or even rafting! I am looking for helpers from mid January 2026 onwards. Jobs include farm work, gardening, housekeeping, servicing and cleaning my AirBnB and learning about our farming systems. You would have your own room and receive all your food in return for 4-5 hours work per day. Those are the typical Helpx conditions. There are usually other Helpxers at the farm and we work, eat and live as a family, sharing housework and cooking tasks. I look forward to welcoming you to the farm!

Looking for helpers who can help for a minimum of two weeks. You will have your own separate, private, peaceful accommodation, with en-suite, washing machine and kitchen with beautiful views of rural land and Tasman Bay. Wi-Fi, power and water included, plus food. You must be physically strong, hard-working, practical and fit, with plenty of stamina - as well as not being afraid of getting your hands dirty. Beautiful hill country sheep and cattle farm, with views of the sea and mountains. You must enjoy working with animals, be kind, respect and care for them. There is plenty to do all year around and depends on the season. We offer plenty of general farm work experience, gardening, fire-wood splitting, weed-spraying and/or grubbing. There are always fencing and construction projects if this suits you too. The vegetable garden is organic, and I use permaculture methods where possible. Only non-smoking, drug-free helpers please. We are offering travelers a warm, comfortable two-story Celery Top Pine Pole home we built ourself. You will enjoy magical views of the ocean and mountain and will wake to the sounds of the wild birds that flock to our food and water bowls. We are regularly visited by possums, wallaby's and various other wildlife. If you're lucky you may even see a Tasmanian Devil. We aspire to a sustainable way of living and adore our large established organic garden, which we are needing help with maintaining. We ask helpers to provide a minimum of 4.5 hrs of work each day for 5 days with two full days off. If you would like a day off after working a few days we ask you to make up the hours on other days. Some helpers also purchase their own food and only work 2.5 hours a day if this suits you better. We are also very flexible and happy to listen to your requests. Previous gardening experience is essential as well as cooking/helping with evening meals, household duties, and other jobs as required...

My focus is on producing healthy, nutrient-dense food in an environmentally-sustainable and ethical manner. That may sound like a lot of multi-syllable boxes to tick, but it comes down to common sense and logic and knowing the consequences of your interactions wtih nature. I research, experiment, write about, consult and teach how to live off the land. Hence my orchard contains a huge range of food-producing plants. However, I have learnt to distinguish between edible and tasty and I love it when travellers from other cultures teach me how to use a food in a way previously unknown to me (remember, all of NZ food plants are imports). From guests I expect: Four hours help per day (this can be done day on/day off depending on what suits), and is varied and interesting, including maintenance of the lifestyle block, caring fo rthe animals or orchard and garden work. Assistance in preparing and cleaning up the daily main meal. Assistance with housework chores. In return: Good food (real...

Hi there Traveler We offer a farm stay with great views and good conversation. We chopped down a pine forest and replanted with Manuka about 4 years ago so it’s starting to look really great, and more native birds are about. Established a wetland reserve as well. Also we are developing another small retreat area that needs assistance with tracks and tree management. Some stock work is all so on offer but we will work with you all the time as it’s safer and more fun. cheers and safe travels Geoff and Declan

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. Graham has some woodworking skill but needs help during that time with various tasks and we are willing to give you a comfortable bed, good food and company and access to bathroom and washing machine in exchange for 4 hours help per day, 5 days per week. We are located in the mid of the Atlantic Rainforest about 120 km away from Rio deJaneiro city. Our project started 13 years ago and building work is still going on but there is an end in sight, the vegetable garden and orchard are in good shape but need a caring hand all the time. Our reforestation project is concluded; we planted 2500 native trees of the Atlantic Rainforest on a hill where cattle were grazing in the past. The concept includes MTB-trails in order to facilitate the planting and maintenance of the trees. Along the trails we planted plenty fruit trees. There is still work to do with the cycle trails in order to use them with a bike. There are several buildings where we live on our land. The kitchen is communitarian; we usually take turns for preparing the lunch. We cook vegetarian and try to use as much as possible what we can grow on our land. We have chickens, dogs and cats that live with us and we need a hand with them too. We can provide a room with private ...

Hi! I'm Jan and I have had great experiences with FRENCH FEMALE backpackers (sisters and friends!) they have set the bar high gotta say, with such amazing attitudes to hard work in the garden and with any chore set for them - and initiative and just being such great girls and fun to have around! If that sounds like you read on! I have a 3 acre “land for wildlife” property where I’m regenerating 1/3 to natural bushland, growing some organic veggies and also sometimes running a small vegan B&B. It is in the beautiful Noosa Hinterland just 15 mins drive to Noosa Heads. I have 2 rescue cats and a dog and sometimes human guests. Genuine nature and cat and dog lovers only please! I mainly require assistance in garden maintenance, hand weeding/pruning/mowing/pulling out shrubs and small trees - it’s quite physical work so you need to be young, pretty fit and like to work physically. I work with you when I can but work two outside jobs so you need to be a self starter and that's why TWO...

I live between a yacht on Sydney Harbour and a house in a tall eucalyptus forest on the mid north coast of NSW, and need some assistance in working on the house and on another yacht. I'm a carpenter who worked with National Parks and Wildlife for 25 years before retiring, and live with a small dog Billy. I've had many helpers come stay over the last few years and have been lucky to have so many interesting travellers stay. My yacht, is currently on the hard at Whoota, where we are renovating her while helping with work on her. I often take helpers out sailing to see the magnificent Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House but this is not possible while she is being worked on. Yet, I hope to invite helpers out when she is back in the water, The house is located in Whoota, near Forster. It is surrounded by forest and located a 10 minute drive from pristine beaches, lakes, and bushwalks. There a lots of dolphins to see and beautiful areas to explore. The work we are doing on the house i...

We are looking for like minded individuals who are passionate about restoration/building and maintenance, love nature and have a good nature and willing to share a laugh over some good food. We have hosted people from all around the world, including all over Europe, Asia, North and South America. The motel is a 5-minute drive from local amenities such as supermarkets, shops, pubs, and a skate park. From June to September there are plenty of winter activities including skiing, tobogganing, and snowboarding at nearby ski resorts, just 30 minutes away. In summer, there are plenty of hikes, mountain biking, fishing, as well as the beach at Jindabyne Lake, Blue Lake and we are 30 minutes from the tallest mountain in Australia- Mount Koscioscko. Yarrangobilly Caves and nearby thermal pools are about one hour away. Our beautiful site features a serene river, where you can go...
