I live in a beautiful part of the Coromandel, near a small village called Kuaotunu, which is only 5 minutes to some lovely beaches. My home is surrounded by bush with a beautiful stream going through it, that generates the power I need. I also have solar power and solar hot water heating. We grow our own veggies and have cows and a cat and three gold fish. now only two the cat ate one The land has a hill that gives awesome views out to the ocean and lovely bush walks has a meditation spot .. One of the things we do is collect sea food to make yummy meals. i have a self contained chalet, with a log fire. We do all sorts of jobs like gardening, building projects and what ever comes along. This is a 4 hectare property located at the north end of Tasman, a ten minute drive to the Abel Tasman walk and the beautiful beaches that surround this area. Here I grow cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines, apples and pears. Nearly always need help or if you are interested in growing food then let me know and I will see what I am up too. This is a farm with a hatchery for geese and ducks, and with a herd of pure friesian cows (28) and beef cattle. We are also involved in research work in the field of animal Welfare / Behaviour / Ethology, working on topics related to incubation in duck and goose eggs and animal welfare. Two apartments are available but with meals and food provided in the main house. The farm is about 5km from the nearby town and approx 1km from the beach. Accommodation and food provided and payment can be provided depending on interests and needs. A person may wish to work for short periods of time in garden or on farm. One thing I can advise helpers who want to get a placement with any host is to have at least one PICTURE of YOURSELF. Just as you like to "see" who and where you are coming, hosts like to see who they are opening their home to. It's going into Summer now, so we need lots of outdoor help getting the property and garden cleaned up after such a long and hard winter. Urgent Update Unfortunately Lea had to leave us early for some family matter. We would like to have an helping hand now, until September for preparing for the autumn. We would love to welcome you to our beautiful log home near the Canadian Rockies for a unique volunteer experience surrounded by nature, wildlife, and true Alberta ranch life. Our home sits on a stunning 60-acre property with ponds, walking trails, open space, and incredible mountain-country scenery. After an intense house renovation, we are now entering the final phase, focusing on cleaning and refreshing the house. I have a pair of picturesque, riverfront hobby farms, each with a large 4-bedroom house. In time, want to transition the farms to more of a communal space. There are three acres of wild blueberries that I am currently converingt to organic production, six acres of pasture, and about eight acres of woods that provide more than enough firewood to heat both homes without having to clear-cut any areas. I have a small herd of alpacas and an even smaller flock of chickens, whom I allow to free range. We harvest a small portion of our food from the property, and my vision is to increase that slowly and steadily every year.
