It is our mission to provide visitors from all over the world with an authentic experience of the unique atmosphere and culture of our home in Canada’s far North. As a well-established tourism company, we are diversifying our impacts and create a more resilient business. Doing this is not only fulfilling our long-term mission of developing a self-sustaining Arctic Eco-Village, but also investigating innovative solutions to major obstacles facing communities in the North: food and housing insecurity, decolonizing our economy, capacity development and cultural revitalization. Sustainable farming is not the only focus we have here, but we are continuously developing ideas and trying new farming methods. We are happy to find people from all over the world who are as motivated as we are to make living in the Arctic more sustainable. Organic methods: In the summer time, when we enjoy 24 hour sunshine, we grow our plants in greenhouses without the use of any chemical/artificial fertilizers....

I can't see the world, but the world can come see me. First and foremost, I want to thank all the helpers who came from United Kingdom-England, France, Belgium, Italy, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Welcome Helpers. I live in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. Peaceful Hollow is quite with no neighbors in sight. There are no city lights, and you can see every star on a clear night! Pleaseful Hollow consists of: my cabin,/workshop with a private guestroom with private entrance on the second floor, and a very small guest cabin. My daughter and family moved here much later and have their own home. There is a lot you can be involved in, knowledge to share, friendships to build, and opportunities for growth. Below are routines and some projects. I would love to involve you! - Caring for honey bees, chickens, cats, dogs, one registered pure American Mulefoot boar pig, one gilt pig berkshire-tamworth with spots.. i am a fourth-generation beekeeper and has much ...

Hello kind stranger! Our names are Claire and Michiel, we're a young Franco-Belgian family living on an old farmstead near the coast of Wissant, North of France. For 8 years now we are bringing the old farmhouses back to life, while also bringing up our two daughters: Fleur (5 yo) and Perle (3 yo). We've been hosts since 2021 and we love the life that a group of volunteers brings to our place. Making you discover French culture, nature and the sea helps us to enjoy it even more ourselves. Teaching French and picking up on your languages widens our world view and helps our kids to be future globetrotters - like you! The different nationalities we're welcoming make us feel like travelling the world while staying at home. Every day we're hosting, it widens our horizon and gives us love, laughter and friendship. So far we've made an old stable into our home, we've renovated a 'longère' (long farmbuilding) into a woodworker's workshop, our workshop and office space, we've landscaped the c...

I'm Thanasis, a 45 years old greek man living in the South of the Peloponnes. I'm a farmer, with oranges trees and some olive trees. I also have a shop, mainly selling coffee that I roast on site. I need help all the year to maintain the big farm (orange and olive harvest, trees pruning, pick-up fallen oranges, and so on..) If you come, you will have your own room (1 for a couple or separate), and access to all the rest of the house (kitchen, bathroom...). I like to share the meal, and provide food if you want to cook. You also can use WI-FI connection. You could enjoy the life between the farm and the city of Skala Lakonia, wich offer a lot of coffee shop, restaurants, and any kind of stores. Minimum stay is 2 weeks, to allow time to learn about life on the farm. I need help for a maximum of 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, depending on the weather. I really like to meet new people and introduce them to Greece history. I practice karaté (three times per week) and would be happy t...

Hello everyone! My name is Bird, I was working in Chiang-Mai as a photographer for 2 years then decided to become a farmer and create a Thai traditional agriculture permaculture farm in 2018. I wish to create a relaxing place that allows people from all over the world to take their time to experience life in harmony with nature. I also have four water buffalo on our farm, named Tony, Laura, Hanna and Charlie. We are a local family with a desire to preserve our simple, sustainable way of life so that we can give back to and protect mother earth. Our farm is located in Pua city, 70km north of Nan province surrounded by the mountains and rice fields, in Northern Thailand. The farm is set on 1.5 acres of land with vegetable gardens, rice paddies, farm stay and pizza restaurant. Currently, we have done with natural buildings on the farm, including bamboo huts, fences, and wooden houses. “Life is better with a Buffalo” is our farm goal and “Happiness only real when shared “ is our motto. Hello, I'm traveling by inland river barge through Europe, especially France, Belgium and Holland. The barge is an original Dutch built peniche and made for the old French channels. I still transport cargo and I am the third generation of a shipper family from both sides of my parents. I live and work alone on the barge sometimes accompanied by my girlfriend. There is a simple separate -little- room (see photo..) for guests in the front of the barge which is not suite. (no sanitation, but there is a chemical toilet and lavabo) Also a heating system, fridge/freezer and micro-wave. The work to do depends on the person, maybe some cleaning, housekeeping work, shopping and cooking??? And serving the aperitif of the skipper of course at 18h00 exactly..LOL. My intention is to make contact with other people and have an exchange of cultures. Kind regards, William * * * * * * * * * * * * Plans for 2025 : ** Actually I’m working -my first experience ever- on a bigger river-barge fro...

We are a family that has been involved with exchange helpers since 2016. We have had a great experience hosting travelers. We have been travelers and hostel-staying people for many years, and while we cannot travel ourselves now (due to our jobs), we like sharing stories with others. We Speak English, American Sign Language, and Some Spanish. All of our past helpers were specifically interested in living and learning ASL. One of us is Deaf, and the other is an ASL interpreter. We have an organic kitchen and can provide one meal a day. If you cook, free meals. If you cook for me, it has to be organic (I have allergies) We have one nice bedroom, and a shared bathroom. It's a nice sunny house We are flexible on work hours but like 3-4 a day committed to our project, 5 days a week. We need help with yard projects and painting. Gardening, planting weeding, and watering. Handyman skills are highly desirable. We like to offer one day off on the weekend and one during the week. This way ...

Hello, after 20 years in construction trucks, squats and trucks, now suddenly on a piece of land, with a large house in a rural area of Germany luckily surrounded by some good people. I am always busy all around the house and it's piece of land, it's garden, some smaller and some larger construction sites are always going on, and the question never is, if there is something to do, but what exactly to do at the very moment Many things have also already been accomplished I can offer separate rooms, shared or seperate kitchen, I would love to find a person, or two, who find maybe a home in the place, too I used to have roommates but currently i live alone, i have many guests, same time, I also appreciate time on my own I love to be in touch with myself, and work according to my rhythm, capacities and desire This can make me very happy Ok Hope to hear from you Klaus

[Update posted 08/01/25] The Crossing announces a change, a seed planted four years ago. For the past four years, the land belongs, as is fair and good, to a Tribal University and Land Grant University located on the Rosebud Reservation, home of the Sicangu Oyate, in South Dakota. Our donation of the property was formally accepted by Sinte Gleska University during September of 2020. Since then, the seed has sprouted and pushed roots of beginnings down into the soil and the sprout and it's cotyledons have come out into the sun. Last August, with an amazing gathering here of a group of people from The University, inipis (sweat lodge, in Lakota) were poured and prayers sent up to Creator, and the transition from private ownership to the establishment of Sinte Gleska University's welcomed and growing presence is forever engaged – the first true leaf has opened to the sunlight. Helen and I will share more about the future of The Crossing and the direction by Sinte Gleska University when ...

Good morning;. I went on the Wagon Train in Montana like I have since 1983. We had a bad wreck, I got hurt. My ribs are healed now. My left leg still breaks open. It was a very nasty cut. Please come help me. I am now able to ride the ride on mower and get mowing done. The helper who had been here just over 3 years [yes years],moved . He works in town full time, stayed here for free and helped with chores. I really need the help. I do need someone for the winter months for sure. I have had 3 really great helpers already this year and 1 vanishing act. Too funny. Not as much to do as most years. Painting will have to get done this year. That is outside on the little buildings. 2 barn doors need repairs. Please respond when I send an invitation. I wait and wait and so many do not reply. Thank you to those who do. Due to my health, i have gotten behind.. I hope to see many more new friends in 2026. If you have not been to Saskatchewan, You are missing sheer beauty and so many things to s...

We live in the inner west suburb of Petersham in Sydney, close to public transport. We enjoy meeting travellers from around the world and also enjoy the help with cleaning, dog walking, sorting, painting & gardening. We offer a bedroom with queen bed and good food for 20 hours work a week, which can be done flexibly. And it’s fine if you want to work less hours & organise your own food. If you’re heading north, we have a place 20 minutes north-west of Taree where we’d like help with cleaning, painting, gardening etc but you’d need a car to get there. We are a retired couple plus Alfie the labradoodle and have hosted many HelpXers over the years.

We are Axel and Mônica (both 52). We are living in Portugal and our house with 3000 squaremeters of land is in a small village in the countryside of the beautiful Algarve. We can offer accommodation (bedroom - as you can see on the picture - and separate bathroom for you) and meals of course. Behind the village the mountains start, so here is a lot of nature, the beaches are 30km away. The next town (Messines) is 4km away, the next village about 1km. We need helpers in September or October for two or three weeks for some work in our garden and building a wall of natural stones. We prefer a couple or two friends, but if you are a single helper, you can contact us as well. Helpers are very welcome to our house!

Hey you ! Do you want to come and spent some nice time in wild Transylvania ? It's a place where the time has stopped and rural life isn't a fake touristic attraction but beautiful hard reality. My house and grounds are located in the hills nearby Bradetu village, 750m up in the Carpathian Mountains by the foot of the highest part - Fagaras. The environment is a healthy variation of forest and prairies, streams and rivers blooming with (sometimes rare) life. The air is clean, fresh and the night skies are glorious. *Home My home is an eco-friendly straw bale construction. Clay was used for the finishing of the straw walls and interior walls. The floor of the attic was filled with sheep's wool. You will have one big room with spectacular views all around. Sanitation is basic because of no running water. In the house is a dry toilet using sawdust, bath and wash-basin. Inside the house you can find mobile signal out mostly only weak, wifi connection. The sun gives us enough electricity...

This is an exciting opportunity to have an experience that will stay with you throughout your life. Our Foundation aims at helping rural children receive a qualitative outstanding education. We have a volunteer teaching program to assist rural teachers and children get exposure to foreign languages and cultures. We are a family with four children living on a beautiful 4.5-hectare finca between Lanjarón and Órgiva, in the heart of the Alpujarras in southern Spain. We currently have 3 other volunteers living with us. Our land is home to olive, almond, kaki and fig trees, a spring-fed alberca, and wide-open mountain views. We live simply and close to nature in low-impact dwellings, including yurts, wooden huts, bell tents, caravans and campers. We are looking for one volunteer to join us, who can join us during August and September, staying until the end of September. This is a particularly lively time of year on the land. There is often a lot of movement, with family, friends, visitors and different activities taking place. It is beautiful and sociable, but also very busy, so we are looking for people who enjoy being part of an active environment and are happy to notice what needs doing and lend a hand. Hello, it's Stephen and Philamae here. We have a beautiful rural property in Buckland, Tasmania (45mins NE from Hobart airport). The views are stunning - the accommodation is lovely and we are running it as holiday accommodation as we move towards turning it into a funky retreat space. The experience of the place - and Tasmania as a whole - is soul stirring. Lots of beautiful animals surround us - sheep, wallabies, possums, echidnas, bunnies and the occasional deer. A pair of the endangered and majestic wedge-tailed eagles live 1km away and often soar above us. Our website link below has a lot more photos of our place. We have a series of 7 wellness retreats running 5 June to end August: see our blog link below. The next specific needs are: a) 12-13 September - need a "bride model" (or couple) to star in a photo shoot (professional photographer) of a fun mock up wedding for our future weddings at Sherwood Loves! **Prank your family and friends with the results!!** Can stay longer o...

We are a cultural and arts community that is working towards being self-sustained. The community is situated in the mountains of Monchique, Portugal surrounded by nature. Our community provides an alternative way of living with permaculture gardens, farm animals, sustainability projects, and arts and cultural workshops. It is a great place to come to meet other like-minded people if you are passionate about sustainability and alternative living. We hold community meetings throughout the week alongside activities and workshops, such as quiz nights, dance nights and yoga classes. If you have something you are passionate about and want to share with others, we would love for you to run a workshop. One of the best things here is the variety of tasks you can do as a volunteer, which gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and discover what you enjoy doing most. We have a combination of short-term and long-term volunteers and on average we have between 10 to 20 volunteers and resident...

We live in a nature sanctuary on Corfu island in Greece. we are a COMMUNITY of PLANTS, ANIMALS AND HUMAN BEINGS, who try to live together IN THE SPIRIT OF NATURE. we are organized similar to a zen monastery. yet we are not affiliated to any religious body, but to the holy body of our mother earth. the earth takes care of us. the earth gives to us what we need. she gives us and she for-gives us – she never asks for money… we admire the communities in nature (ecosystems), where all members balance their needs and gifts in a healthy way, without money, without machines and without chemicals. here in NATURE’S SANCTUARY we try to live in harmony with nature. we try to support and protect all our nature brothers and sisters, who share this sanctuary with us… it is a CHALLENGE TO LIVE IN HARMONY WITH NATURE. it is a challenge to protect and support all nature beings in a way, that they have the chance to live in their own natural born communities. we are looking for people, who want to take...

2 Small farms turned into the one near the West Coast of Clare. We keep lots of farm animals like cattle, horses, donkeys and sheep. We produce a wide range of vegetables for ourselves and some for selling. We have two children, went to primary Steiner/ Waldorf school; Frank (25) and Fina(21) and they love having volunteers around the place. Fina is doing equine studies and Frank studies horticulture and loves travelling. We hope you have the ability to adapt to our for most of you different and simple life-style and enjoy farmwork with irregular hours at times, and you will get a true sense of farming life-style! It is important to realise beforehand that you are a volunteer who gets the opportunity to join into our family home/life so please do not compare with a regular paid job.. Most important is that you are happy and enjoy your stay with us... We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned 15 years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 13 and 10) with 3 dogs/chickens/guinea pigs. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area. People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Helpers stay in either a fifteen by eight foot caravan with solar power...

We currently have 3 other volunteers living with us. Our land is home to olive, almond, kaki and fig trees, a spring-fed alberca, and wide-open mountain views. We are looking for one volunteer to join us, who can join us during August and September, staying until the end of September. This is a particularly lively time of year on the land. A pair of the endangered and majestic wedge-tailed eagles live 1km away and often soar above us. Our website link below has a lot more photos of our place.
