We are a cultural and arts community that is working towards being self-sustained. The community is situated in the mountains of Monchique, Portugal surrounded by nature. Our community provides an alternative way of living with permaculture gardens, farm animals, sustainability projects, and arts and cultural workshops. It is a great place to come to meet other like-minded people if you are passionate about sustainability and alternative living. We hold community meetings throughout the week alongside activities and workshops, such as quiz nights, dance nights and yoga classes. If you have something you are passionate about and want to share with others, we would love for you to run a workshop. One of the best things here is the variety of tasks you can do as a volunteer, which gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and discover what you enjoy doing most. We have a combination of short-term and long-term volunteers and on average we have between 10 to 20 volunteers and resident...

We are ceramic artists who live on our 1 hectare property about 20km inland from the beautiful Doubtless Bay area. We run our pottery business from home and look after our organic gardens, small orchard and numerous chickens. We have traveled widely ourselves and hosted travelers for over 10 years with another organisation, so are interested in HelpX for both the cultural exchanges and to be able to share our lifestyle with others while getting some help around the property. We are looking for enthusiastic helpers for help with things around the property such as gardening, wood collecting, cleaning, painting, general maintenance and other tasks depending on the season. In exchange for 4 hours work a day, 5 days a week we will provide you with all meals, but ask that you join in with the preparation, and accommodation in the funky little cabin with it's own veranda.  We will be happy to include you in our lifestyle, maybe you'll be there to go Friday night fishing on our yac...

Looking for a lovely volunteer to join us and our animals. AVAILABILITY FROM the middle of APRIL. Please contact us if you are interested in helping look after our wonderful animals. Experience with horses is useful but not necessary as long as you are happy to care for them. You will live as part of the family - during your stay, our home will be your home. We are a married couple living on a property with our DOGS, HORSES and some elderly but treasured chickens. Depending on the time of year, we also run a small scale rescue and rehabilitation centre for hedgehogs. There are stunning views looking out over a Devon Wildlife Nature Reserve and beautiful countryside. We live in a very attractive rural area of Devon on the outskirts of a beautiful old village called DOLTON (please look on "Google Earth") about a 45 minute drive from Dartmoor National Park. The village has a very friendly and active community, a church, 2 excellent traditional pubs, a post office and a small shop AND...

NB - just in case you don't get to the end of the profile - we are vegetarian (mostly) - and we don't take picky eaters. - or smokers. We are terracing a steep section (with an amazing view), developing a fernery and planting out an orchard and native hedges. There are fantails and keruru in abundance. Though the development is sometimes hard work, it`s creative and fun. We are getting there but we could do with a bit of help from strong fit people whose knees can handle walking up and down a steep garden - usually with a load on.. We also have work repairing and painting garden furniture. We prefer hosting a couple or 2 friends who are keen gardeners - or have carpentry or brick laying skills - to help with garden maintenance. We also have a couple of hard-landscaping projects involving path construction and maintenance. Ideally, we would like people who are able to work with minimal supervision, who take pride in their work and want to do a job well, who are self-motivated, have ...

We run a no-kill animal sanctuary in the beautiful Irish countryside, an hour's drive from Dublin City. We have horses, sheep, goats, hens, geese, ducks, dogs, cats, a pig and a donkey, all rescued from bad situations and now living out their days in peace and comfort with us. We are looking for someone to help with the daily tasks, mostly cleaning up the fields and stables, and walking and playing with some of our dogs. Accommodation and self-prepared meals offered in return for help with taking care of rescue animals. We ask for a minimum stay of four weeks, and even longer would be better! Our last volunteer came for three months and stayed for six! Approximately 25 -30 hours per week of help will be required. Vegetarian food supplied. Accommodation is in a modern mobile home, two bedrooms, one bathroom with shower and toilet, living room and kitchen. Situated in a rural location in Co. Kildare, with spectacular views of the Wicklow mountains. There is limited WiFi, it's not ve...

Hello, The Walipini is ready and great, thanks to the two helpers. They have left again and I hope to find some people who can help with the heavy things which need to be done(I am 69 and lift the blade so high is to heavy for me , for drilling the holes for the standing poles I simply haven't enough force). If someone can give me a hand that would be lovely.Like cutting the hedges, replacing some fences, building two terrace with beautiful Buxus wood and some wood cutting from fallen trees. You are welcome to come to help I like to share my beautiful place where you can have big walks or visit the markets in the villages around me (I like to cook good healthy meals, also vegetarian if wanted). There is place (also near the river) for camping or camping-cars. Thanks Aletta Dear all, I'm looking for people who are willing and able to help build a Walipini greenhouse at my new home on a south-facing slope. I'm also looking for reliable people to look after my house and pets from Janua...

We are near the Shoalwater Marine Park and Penguin Island 40mins from Perth city centre. Very close to public transport, cafes and library. Ideal for beach walking, diving, swimming, cycling, fishing, sailing and windsurfing (beach is 60 metres away). Accommodation would take form of a fully insulated cute tiny garden room with access to undercover cooking area and bathroom. IT is small so please See photos. On week days we are usually working it Perth so we cant provide meals, but a well-stocked supermarket is 200 metres away. We average 2/3 hours a day painting, plumbing gardening and other repairs and can negotiate best time to do that, for example maybe it’s more convenient to do two longer days during the week. When you email please let us know when you plan to get to Perth and how you are travelling (flying in, driving or bus etc.). If you are already in Perth, where you are staying and how long you would like stay. We can send you more details when you enquire, including advi...

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

PLEASE READ MY WHOLE HOST PROFILE BEFORE YOU APPLY TO VISIT MY PLACE AND ASK ABOUT ANYTHING YOUR NOT CLEAR ON Need help.with a garden clean up.at the moment. You don't need to have an overwhelming desire to save the world, live off the land, or be more useful than a Swiss army knife, to stay here. A nice honest person is good enough. This is a relaxing place, close to nature, away from the backpacker trail on the coast but still got a bit happening, somewhere to recharge your batteries, do a bit of work, have a laugh and meet some real Aussies, maybe get out of your comfort zone a bit😜 My place is a cattle farm with one rough headed ,skinny, old farmer, one dog, some cattle, lots of birds and wildlife, relaxing place, near Kyogle, a quiet country town, which is 1.5 hours drive west from Byron Bay. Two hours south of Brisbane by train. Very close to the beautiful Border Ranges National Park (bike ride away). I like to show people around. There is a mountain on my farm with lots...

We are a retired couple and live on a small (2 acre) property about 16km north of Hamilton. While we have adult children and grandchildren in NZ, Ireland and the UK, we also have young adults and a school age child at home. We have hens, a few sheep, a cat and a dog and some gardens and an orchard. We appreciate help with a variety of tasks which include gardening and general property maintenance etc. There could also be trees to prune or wood that needs to be split into firewood. We offer all main meals (we are omnivores) and a separate cabin near the house in return for 4 hours help per day for 5 days (or 20 hours per week) so two full days off per 7 days.. We live 25km from Hamilton city, 4km from local town of Ngaruawahia. The nearby Hakarimata Summit hiking track provides great views over the Waikato valley and hiking and biking trails are close by. Glow worms can be seen in the bush on clear nights and the smaller Paa site on Pukeahua hill provides an easier climb with great v...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to routburn and greenstone tracks.you will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. ,a bit isolated, not for the precious,no trophy hunters !! .please don`t apply unless you intend to come for a minimum stay of two weeks. One person only.we do not get involved with internships or visa applications.vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, so you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers ! Accommodation is a house bus in warmer weather or a room in the house in winter, not shared usually. Lastly I also play the guitar ( badly ) and sing ( worse ) ,but it's all about smile not style :-) Cheers Al

Hi travellers! My name is Elisabeth, I am 63 years old, I live in a small, charming old farm, part of the time my partner Thomas lives here too. My house is at least 200 years old, it is located in green, hilly eastern Austria, surrounded by greenland and forest. I have three outdoor cats. My property is relatively big, about 4 hectares. There is a big swimming pond on my property, which is great for swimming in summer and a beautiful, peaceful natural spot any season. I need help with landscape caring, removing brunches broken off after the last heavy snowfall, mowing and cutting grass and bushes around the house, by the pond and in the woods, but I am also happy to receive help with household chores, such as cleaning windows. You don't necessarily need prior knowledge, if you have experience, that's wonderful, if not, I'll show you everything necessary. I am a trained and experienced woodworker and know some about gardening, landscape caring and permaculture. I appreciate a...

A room is available for your homestay. Because of the help I would like to ask, mature ladies who have enough experience/knowledge of handling house holding chores and cooking are welcome. No problem if you cannot cook Japanese dishes. Vegetarian is welcome only from summer to autumn. It's easy to talk about next step of your homestay if how long from when, how you can help, what you want to do during homestay in addition to help works are written in your request. I will reply to only applicants who read my profile and understand/satisfy requirements. I'm a 67 years old male living alone and have a small private organic vegetable garden. I am happy if someone can help me to maintain vegetable garden and household chores including cooking. I also can enjoy helping my guest to learn Japanese language. We can visit at sightseeing places/aesthetic landscape when we have free time. At the same time, I'm interested to hear your stories about helpx and learn foreign languages as well ...

Currently have no availability until July. Help on a Vineyard & Family Farm – Awatere Valley, Marlborough We’re a family-run vineyard and hill-country farm, located just 20 minutes south of Blenheim, 3 km from State Highway 1, and 5 minutes from the rural township of Seddon — right in the heart of Marlborough’s scenic Awatere Valley. The property includes a working 40-hectare Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, a hill-country farm, a small orchard, and developing gardens around our off-grid Passivhaus homestead. We're on a journey toward self-sufficiency — growing more of our own food, regenerating parts of the farm with native plants from our own nursery, and installing solar to power our vineyard. We live on the property that’s been in Pip’s family for three generations. Our children’s great-grandparents worked this land. Pip grew up here, and Duncan comes from a farming background in the UK. We have two children (14 and 16), and a lively mix of animals including chickens, pigs, 2 friendly f...

** Updates on SPRING '26 SEASON: during SPRING (Mar - May) we can host volunteers who are either experienced in building (carpenters, ceramist, painters ...) or those who would like to lend a strong hand with big spring tasks of preparing the soil, planting, growing seedlings, ... You get the idea. We are (beside starting the agricultural season) renovating the upper floor of our house and turning it into apartments for rent, and are willing to offer an already renovated and fitted one for an experienced hand's help. ++Updates on SUMMER Season '26: we'll start to host volunteers (for work and accommodation as described below) mid-May '26. If the photos did the job (stirring your interest, that is), you must be a nature-and-mountain-and-beautiful-scenery-lover, so a big part of who we are happy to live and work with for a while is already done. If you are not discouraged by mostly a lot of (could be) quite repetitive physical work, then you will not suffer either :) So, to the wor...

MOST URGENT NEEDS: -Someone who KNOWS land, soil, water as we are looking to acquire land in California to get things started! -Organizing many old things in the house we are in in San Francisco If you are a traveller, musician, community-orientated...this could also be a great place for you I am a chef and musician, that's been traveling pretty much non-stop since I started....After 15 years of traveling, living in many refugee projects, squats, intentional communities, collectives, cooking for many community kitchens, staying in many farms and seeing what it is possible in this world....I have seen many things I have loved and many things that didn't quite work in my opinion...now I have a unique opportunity to start a community based on learning, sharing and helping each other (especially those that may not normally have access to such a privileged life-style) grow and learn through workshops and communal happenings. Right now I am in the extreme beginnings. I am looking for lan...

We extend a warm invitation to join us on our friendly farm by the seaside. We have availability from July 1st to the end of the year — all beautiful times of year here, when everything is either waking up again or settling in for s slower pace and the island feels full of fresh energy or is lulling off to sleep. Please inquire for availability during any time of the year. Joining us is a lovely chance to slow down, breathe, and really feel nature all around you. We’re right by the seaside, so you can live close to the water, enjoy the long light, and settle into the rhythm of rural coastal life. There’s always plenty to learn and experience here, and we’re delighted to welcome helpers who enjoy great scenery, good purpose, and a peaceful place to land for a while. If the timing suits you, we’d be very happy to take a look at hosting you and if you already have some farm experience we especially welcome you! ...

Fourteen years ago we took a chance on a bareland croft. Empty but for bog, rock, bracken, grassland, heather, wild flowers and trees. We spent long winters in a caravan, while we watched our children outgrow the space and started to bring the land back into use. We now produce vegetables and eggs, and have built a family home. From April to September we are looking for one or two helpers who can be with us for a week or two at a time. Longer stretches may be possible. We ask helpers to help out 20 hours a week. The rest of the time is yours to enjoy this beautiful island and to get to know this welcoming island community. Tasks vary depending on the time of year, and will include help with our organic vegetable garden, nurturing our newly planted woodland and feeding the chickens. We are looking for helpers who have some horticulture or woodland experience that will be helpful with one of the above areas, who are happy to tasks independently at times, as well as with us. Accommo...

Would like to learn and look after a vineyard, distillery and winery this season, no experience is necessary. Established in 1998 and hosting HELPXers for over 15 years, it is the only certified organic winery in the Perth region. It is situated in the Swan Valley, 7km from Elenbrook and 15km from the Perth airport. The vineyard has 3,000 vines, a large house we live in, a machinery shed, and a winery/distillery on the property. Winemaking occurs during the summer months from January to March. A large, spacious room with a double bed, attached to the house, has a private entrance. Applications for COUPLES or TWO people are open now. Opportunities for Autumn vineyard and maintenance work are available now, starting in April 2026. Couples with Visitor visas are also welcome. I want (NON-smoking) volunteers who wish to experience distillery, vineyard, and winemaking work. During the season, there are generally outdoor activities, such as winery and vine work, plus gardening if it i...

Permaculture project with idea and space to create an eco-village. The quinta is located in Alto Alentejo 2km from Portalegre. 15 hectares with magical forests and a beautiful valley provided by seventeen sources and several mines with healthy water where too people live permanently for the moment,Isabel, a communication manager and Michel, a carpenter who is the founder of the project. There is also one dog, five cats, for chickens and six sheep. The project is now in the phase when it’s open so that more people can live here. Because parts of the ruins are ready for occupancy, there is space for people who want to stay longer, which can bring new and stronger dynamics throughout the year, not like before, when there was only a lot going on in the summer months. So far there is already a beautiful gardens going on and numerous species of plants, shrubs and trees which deliver us plenty of food. We are happy when someone shows enthusiasm for the garden because this is a central part...

Summer is here and apart from our gorgeous beaches nearby the farm is looking grand and growing. Oamaru, our nearby town is fun and quirky and home to a lot of artists and alternatively thinking people. The farmers market is a grand place to go and feel out the vibe and we can tell you where to view the little blue penguins free of charge. Oh so cute! We are passionate about growing and processing our own food, we love bugs and bees and all our animals and our wonderful community. Soil health and biodiversity are key players for us. We love hearing new ideas and sharing our successes...and failures :) We are a NZ/German family of five (kids aged 10, 13 and 14) who love to travel and love meeting travellers from all over the world. We used to live on a sailing boat when the kids were smaller and sailed to many tropical islands, exploring reefs, tribal life and off grid living. Now we have swapped that life for one on the land, aiming to regenerate our little farm by introducing more ...

Hi, we are a family that lives in the south of Italy in the beautiful region of Puglia; in the countryside but not too far from the sea. We have a family-run business in the Cisternino countryside, with holiday homes for tourists, riding stables and recreational activities. Looking for a person who can help in various activities; really interested in the life of the campaign and learning different tasks such as: carpentry, wrought iron, construction, painting, maintenance of the garden and agriculture, but also request for help in the relationship and management of tourists who stay with us.

Excellent opportunity for those looking for complete experiences in the field of crafts and tourism and in the relationship with nature and animals. Having 4 children already, we only look for completely independent and flexible people. Musicians and artists in general are welcome (Juan the owner is also a musician). There is a chance to learn how to work wood and iron and many other things. It's ...
