Transforming a summer house into a place for living organically. Now the winter of our discontent is ending, transformed into a glorious spring by this Galician sun; and ....sometimes, the clouds that darkened our home disappear into the deep heart of the flat lands.... So it's time to get to work in the garden and lay cement in some places. Some tasks (not all) can be somewhat boring such as cutting and stacking firewood, removing, digging, collecting vegetable remains,... I appreciate the dexterity in physical and manual works and you need to be fit and able to use your strength efficiently. Hi, I'm looking for creative minds efficient bodies who would like to get involved on an sustainable country house project, with some animals and plenty of work to do. There's a protected little forest surrounding the house with small wild animals, and 6 domestic geese, chickens, dogs and two cats. I need help with many things; work on the greenhouse which I have designed by myself, plant...

This is a home stay situated on a sugarcane farm 18km north of Proserpine. Not far from Airle Beach and Whitsundays. There are a variety of chores, I work in the sugar mill but also have a lot of work around my house and sheds. We’re renting a granny flat, and some times there is some cleaning work to be done. I have a young dog and chooks to take care of. It is very quiet where I live, so if you are looking for some peace and quiet to get away. I would also be happy to show you around the area, take you fishing, I have a boat and would love to show you around the Whitsundays weather permitting, maybe catch some crabs explain some of the wildlife in the area. There are lots of beautiful places to see here. We have hosted exchange students in the past and it has been very fulfilling, sharing different cultures. More photos on instagram at aqhinschen We enjoy the company and conversation and also sharing the cooking, I love sharing the kitchen while cooking. We have had some great ...

ABOUT US: We are family of 5: Bart (37), Ida (35), Johan (10) Noor(6), Alma Roos(4) We also got 1 cat, 2 chickens and 7 ducks at the farm We bought this lovely farm on the west-coast of Norway in 2020. It had been laying their waiting for us, abandoned, since 1971. It had no water, electricity or road when we bought it. The house was dilapidated, and the barn in ruins with a giant willow tree in the middle of it. Now, 5 years later, we have a road, water and electricity. The barn has been resurrected, and Bart has established his timber framing company on the farm. This year we have 3 main things we need help with at the farm: 1: April & May: Milling timber for Barts coming projects. 2: July: Looking after our animals and vegetable & flower garden for 3 weeks while we are in Belgium. 3: August/ September: prepare the farm for getting sheep, fencing and building shed What can you expect is a sort of organised chaos. We are relatively laid back as a family, but always busy too...

Hello everyone! My name is Bird, I was working in Chiang-Mai as a photographer for 2 years then decided to become a farmer and create a Thai traditional agriculture permaculture farm in 2018. I wish to create a relaxing place that allows people from all over the world to take their time to experience life in harmony with nature. I also have four water buffalo on our farm, named Tony, Laura, Hanna and Charlie. We are a local family with a desire to preserve our simple, sustainable way of life so that we can give back to and protect mother earth. Our farm is located in Pua city, 70km north of Nan province surrounded by the mountains and rice fields, in Northern Thailand. The farm is set on 1.5 acres of land with vegetable gardens, rice paddies, farm stay and pizza restaurant. Currently, we have done with natural buildings on the farm, including bamboo huts, fences, and wooden houses. “Life is better with a Buffalo” is our farm goal and “Happiness only real when shared “ is our motto. We are in the process of renovating an old house in the Pyrenees. There is only decorating to do such as stripping paint of walls and woodwork, and repainting. There might be the occasional carpentry to do also, nothing too complicated. We need help 5 hours per day, five days per week. Weeding, pruning trees, making paths. We are looking for help from two strong and healthy individuals to assist with a house redecorating project and gardening, trimming trees, path making etc. This requires physical strength and stamina. Please note, we cannot host anyone with any pre existing health issues, physical or mental (we are not medically trained to manage such conditions). We live in a small village with some shops and a climbing centre and a river just opposite the house. We have a quite a size garden where we grow vegetables, fruit bushes and trees. I speak Swedish, German, English, French and a little bit of greek.I am living in a small eco-friendly wooden house with a garden where I grow vegetables and flowers. I have at the moment a lot of gardenwork and I could realy need help. Most of my time I spend outside, working in the garden, doing small hikes around the area or just relaxing on the deck. The little village where I live is lockated in Styria which they call the green heart of Austria. It is a hilly area with lots of apple farms and wine yards around. The capitol of Styria, Graz is 50 km away and the distance to Vienna is around 180 km or 2 hours with the car. In my life I have travelled a lot and I love to meet new people and learn about their cultures. I expect 4-5 hours work /day 5 days a week. I can offer a small bedroom upstairs, toilet and bathroom. .I enjoy it very much if you want to cook sometimes. I eat 3 times a day .I am no...

Hello Potential Volunteers My name is Paul and it was my dream to change my lifestyle from being an office worker to becoming an alpaca farmer.... here we are 14 years later with 100 alpacas, each individually cherishes with names and unique personalities, plus an assortment of other animals all needing our love :) I have three children: Liam (21), Dylan (9) and Oscar (6), and our 100-acre farm is home to approx.100 alpacas, plus llamas, peacocks, hens, mini pigs, a cat named Sexy, and our farm dog Malta. This year we are expecting 20 'cria' (baby alpacas) and each one will need our help so they can thrive! We need to ensure they get colostrum (filled with antibodies and vital for good health) – have they fed from their mums within the first 24hrs? Are they then drinking enough milk from their mums every day? Are they gaining weight? The well-being of my animals is the most important thing on the farm. Do they have good food and enough water, and the best possible natural environme...

Our home is inhabited by three humans and Hank the cat. The humans are Rebecca and Mantas, and the newest addition to the team is a brand new baby named Havah. We are inviting anyone motivated and interested in the following : Are you looking to get (back) in shape while learning useful skills related to self sufficiency and homesteading ? Or maybe you'd be more interested in learning new languages, discussing philosophy and making art in a fervently mystical corner of the world. As Henry Miller put it, the Valley of Dordogne : "this great peaceful regionof France will always be a sacred spot for man and that when the cities have killed off the poets this will be the refuge and cradle of the poets to come." If any of those things pique your interest, this might be the place for you. We have tons of ideas on how to improve our homestead as well as manifest durable sustainable and autonomous solutions for food production and human development in general. Some of our projects include inv...

I am a retired teacher in my eighties, living in a 230-year-old house set in parkland about 80 km SW of Dublin, between Portarlington and Tullamore, central Ireland. The house is spacious (especially the ground floor), with several bedrooms and extensive living space, including a reading room with abundant books, a log fire (and two cats). The 18th century kitchen is kept well-heated by a modern wood-pellet stove. I’m seeking companions who will appreciate the house in its peaceful rural surrounds, especially those keen on fruit and vegetable gardening, reading, and taking care of my beloved trees. I am more frail than I was, and although I generally get around fine with the help of a walking stick or walker, it is best if someone is available to help in case of need. A companion will be asked to do light housekeeping, shopping and cooking vegetarian meals, maintain the log-burning stoves, chop firewood and take materials to the recycling and disposal centre. I can make my car a...

This is only the second school in Nagarkot, nice Nepalese village in Bhaktapur district; a 1.5 hrs bus ride from Kathmandu. It hopes to provide an English medium education for underprivileged children. The school has 7 staff members taking care of its 80+ students - aged from 4 to 12 years old - and would benefit from any help volunteers can provide. Volunteers can expect to as class helpers and also share teaching tips with the school if they can. Volunteers can also help beautify the classrooms murals to help the kids as visual aids during their school time. Becoming an independent class teacher is also an option for long-term volunteers as soon as they have a grasp on the school's curriculum and vision for students. Other jobs for volunteers include: - Writing class exercises and homework exercises for students (we have no printing/photocopying facilities) - Designing class quizzes and tests - Introducing interactive, educational games through which children can learn ...

This beautiful, 2.5 hectare garden, set in the heart of Haute-Normandie Pays de Caux near the English Channel and whose light inspired the Impressionist movement, which can be loosely translated as an Arthouse garden. This is not a run of the mill HelpX destination. There is a real opportunity to learn and have a totally unique experience while staying in the 17th century Priory in the centre of the garden. Cécile, the gardening artist or artistic gardener (she conforms to both), welcomes you to join her in this artistic gardening adventure. Previous experience of gardening and some basic French are welcome but not essential as Cecile can get by in English, Spanish and German and will teach you all you need to know; the work, of course, changes with the seasons and can be a variety of brute force and delicate sensitivity but never forgetting that this is an artistic adventure and is open to the public. Help Xers are invited to food and accommodation in return for an average of 5/6 ho...

My name is Craig, I'm 40 years old and originally from South West UK. I am well traveled and have been to many different paces around the world but have found my sweet spot here in amazing FNQ!. I live with my 2 daughters, Sadie who is 5 and Aleena who is 4 years old. We have 2 big dogs that live in the garden and don't come inside but are very friendly. Sadie and Aleena are incredible little beings, they enjoy meeting new people and learning things from them. They can be a little shy at first, usually a few minutes and then they will be your best friend. They are very helpful and love to be involved with cooking, cleaning and anything we are doing really which is great. We have had many guests come and stay from HelpX and we have all always had positive experiences!. We live in a house near the beach in the suburbs of cairns. We are very sociable people and have a good circle of very nice friends who all like to get together frequently and hang out having nice BBQ's and meals toge...

🏔️ Help Wanted: Alpine Farm Restoration & Lambing Season! Location: Lower Austria (Rax Mountain/Schneeberg area) Vibe: International, hard-working, family-oriented, and authentic. Our community is a vibrant, international bunch with Austrian and Middle Eastern roots, often joined by friends from all over the world. Currently, the farm is managed by Feri (43) and Lise (50). The children, Layla (12) and Aisha (10), are a big part of our lives and visit regularly on weekends and holidays. The Mission: We are living the dream on a 150-year-old estate in a stunning water protection area, but to be honest—last year was a rollercoaster. After a family tragedy and a brutal winter that froze our pipes and tractors, our "to-do" list has grown into a mountain. We are currently in a major transition and reorganization phase. We’re bringing this historic farm back to life, and we need motivated, physically fit people who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty (and maybe a little muddy). What...

Hi, my husband and I live in a beautiful area on a lifestyle farm with our four young kids. We are working on setting up a sustainable lifestyle and there's always something to do! We have beef cows, a milk cow, sheep, goats, chickens, a couple dogs and a producing greenhouse. Would love some help with homesteading, ongoing projects, property maintenance, gardening, and help around the house. If you like your exercise there's a walking track to the top of our property with stunning views at the top. Swimming hole at a beautiful river 5 minutes down the road. Accommodation provided in our family home. You will have your own upstairs sleeping area and a separate toilet. Three healthy meals provided for 4 hours work. We look forward to meeting you!

Hi, I’m Keith. Since 2012, hundreds of volunteers from many countries have helped our projects. We are very grateful for their help and many have become our good friends and come back for a second, third or even fourth visit! In 2020 I started a new project in a town in Northern Ireland. It’s a campus that focuses on peace building education. Our aim is to creatively and sensitively explore the resistances to peacebuilding - knowing that such resistance can resource transformation. It’s not a commercial business, but a “not-for-profit” that needs lots of volunteers! We have three types of volunteers. 1. Volunteers - help with site work, painting, maintenance, cooking, cleaning, maintenance, office work. They come for a couple of months, though sometimes a shirt as two weeks or as long as a year! 2. Interns - come for at least 2 months, often 3 or 4 months or longer, and do work such as research related to their studies, marketing, accounts, social media, fundraising and grant...

Hello there, I'm looking for travellers, nature lovers, people interested in permaculture and a different way of living. I'm Erik, class '88, I live in northern Italy where I've been building a permaculture project for the last few years. I've always been a dreamer, a wanderer seeking adventure and a deeper connection with Nature. After few years of working and travelling the world I decided to start this other journey here 1,5 hours drive from my birth place. As a sensitive person, Healing is a good portion of what drove this life choice into being, as I find it more gentle and sustainable for ourselves and the environment. On a more practical note, the land for now is taken care of for self sufficiency and not as a businness. I can offer food and accomodation in exchange of 3/4 hours of work, 5 days a week.. Most jobs are to do with the garden and the orchard, from planting out vegetables, tree planting, weeding, spreading compost, wood chipping, mulching, all depending on the tim...

ABOUT THE PLACE AND MYSELF. A warm welcome to all those people who wants to share a transition towards sustainability and ecological life In 2010 me and my partner decided to quit our jobs and buy a small piece of land facing Mt. Etna and the Mediterranean sea. The garden was owned by Don Alfio, who was giving us all his personal know-how on how to run a vegetable garden, maintain an olives orchard and making wine. The garden has 120 olive trees, 100 various fruit trees, a small vineyard and a vegetable garden. Here we produce a small amount of organic Olive Oil EVO, Natural Red Wine and the veggies necessary to our diet. My project want to involve as many persons as possible to choose an ecological way of life for the future of our planet. WHAT WE DO WITH THE VOLUNTEERS. I try to always work aside with volunteers, sharing my knowledge about how to live in a more sustainable way. The timetable can not be perfectly fixed in advance as it depends from the kind of work we are going to...

For an experience in a farm with horses and dogs, if you love nature and are not afraid of hard work! Here you’ll find silence and peace, and also many splendid places to visit. [UPDATE: We don’t have availability for a position in horse care only. But we have availability for a strong person, hard worker, to help outside with the bush clearing, using the brushcutter, driving the tractor to grind the fields, apart from helping a bit with the animals and the handling of horses. Note that we are very busy during the week, and we can't go and check our emails every day. You might have to wait a bit for an answer. Sorry for this.] We live in a sparsely populated area called Berry located in the center of France between Orléans (60km) and Bourges (50km). The closest city is Gien, 27km away. Just west is the county called Sologne, where nature is all around, though we are at only 2 hours from Paris. East is the Sancerre valley. We are looking for handy volunteers or good riders. Check...

Hi, my name is Marianne. I live on a classic New Zealand "tree quarter acre section" on a north facing (all day sun) hobbit hill, looking down to Oamaru. If you arrive early enough at my kitchen window or even up on the jungle hill behind the cottage, you can see the sea and watch the sunrise. A 10 minute stroll down Eden Street gets you either to the CBD or to the shoreline. I am providing three basic meals per day as well as a comfortable and quiet room for your stay and to relax after our daily four hours of working together "out there", somewhere on some befitting project. Currently the main focus is on landscaping, forging a pathway up the hill via carving out soil on one side and adding to the other side, creating little embankment walls in the process. Most of these embankments will be made from recycled Oamaru natural stone, a few with recycled glass bottles. Our white Oamaru sandstone has attracted various sculptors to our town, because it is soft enough to be cut and carved...

We live in a nature sanctuary on Corfu island in Greece. we are a COMMUNITY of PLANTS, ANIMALS AND HUMAN BEINGS, who try to live together IN THE SPIRIT OF NATURE. we are organized similar to a zen monastery. yet we are not affiliated to any religious body, but to the holy body of our mother earth. the earth takes care of us. the earth gives to us what we need. she gives us and she for-gives us – she never asks for money… we admire the communities in nature (ecosystems), where all members balance their needs and gifts in a healthy way, without money, without machines and without chemicals. here in NATURE’S SANCTUARY we try to live in harmony with nature. we try to support and protect all our nature brothers and sisters, who share this sanctuary with us… it is a CHALLENGE TO LIVE IN HARMONY WITH NATURE. it is a challenge to protect and support all nature beings in a way, that they have the chance to live in their own natural born communities. we are looking for people, who want to take...

Hello - we are an animal-centric home on a small farmlet close to the township of Lithgow. We have a queen size bedroom available with own entry. We are walking distance to town. We have large dogs, so you will need to be confident around animals. We also breed miniature goats and have a garden and lots of chooks. Our property is located on an historic coal mine site and has many ruins to explore. We have resident native animals including kangaroos, bird life, wombats, possums and reptiles. We are looking for someone who is kind and curious about permaculture, gardening and animals. We are learning about regenerative practices and are trying to live gently. The property takes much of our time and there are always multiple projects on the go, with a view to sustainability and working with our environment. We are building food gardens, goat fencing including portable electric fences so we can have the goats graze on the weeds, we are also planning to restore our 1940’s train carriage in...

Here, we have spectacular mountain views on our doorstep, hiking trails through the mountains and forests, cycling paths, and skiing in the...

Hi I´m Nina, 77 years old woman, born in Sweden and living in the south of Austria.

Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. We have recently found koalas living on the property in the flooded gum trees, with many wallabies and goanna’s are everywhere in summer ! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to relax , .

What...
