We are a cultural and arts community that is working towards being self-sustained. The community is situated in the mountains of Monchique, Portugal surrounded by nature. Our community provides an alternative way of living with permaculture gardens, farm animals, sustainability projects, and arts and cultural workshops. It is a great place to come to meet other like-minded people if you are passionate about sustainability and alternative living. We hold community meetings throughout the week alongside activities and workshops, such as quiz nights, dance nights and yoga classes. If you have something you are passionate about and want to share with others, we would love for you to run a workshop. One of the best things here is the variety of tasks you can do as a volunteer, which gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and discover what you enjoy doing most. We have a combination of short-term and long-term volunteers and on average we have between 10 to 20 volunteers and resident...

We live on a 5 acre hobby farm in the beautiful Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania. Our family consists of three young adult children (two live at home), two horses, many chickens, ducks, geese, goats and two gorgeous dogs. We grow organic vegetables and breed heritage chickens in an attempt to be more sustainable. Jobs involve general gardening, helping with the animals and housekeeping. If you would like a Tassie small farm experience message us with some details of the work you have previously done. We have separate accommodation, with a bathroom. All our HelpXers have loved working and living with us and I hope you will too (please remember Tassie is a cold place in winter). There are many areas of natural beauty in Southern Tasmania which are all fairly close to us. For example, the Hartz mountains, Hastings Caves and the Tahune Airwalk. We live close to a sleepy village called Cygnet and Hobart is only a 40min drive away. (Unfortunately we can't approve 2nd year visas)

Sorry I have been ill and there is no vacancy at the moment. My property is 15kms from Coffs Harbour and 1km for the village of Coramba on the mid north coast of New South Wales. I am situated in an excellent spot as you travel up or down the east coast of Australia. Having been an exchange student myself (100 years ago...lol) I appreciate the benefits of a cultural exchange. I am looking for a few hours help per day/week with housekeeping and gardening/yard work in return for excellent private self contained and self catering accommodation in my 2 bedroom unit.(Downstairs portion of my home.) Wifi available at no cost. I just ask that you be respectful of data usage. I am also very interested in obtaining help with social media promoting my businesses. Working hours are very negotiable so you are able to take advantage of the beautiful district and do some sightseeing, working elsewhere to help obtain your " 88 working days" requirement, and mixing with the locals etc. ...

Nestled in the coastal range of Mendocino County, California (about 45 minutes Northwest of Ukiah) we are establishing a small farm and wildlife sanctuary. Based on principles of sustainability & permaculture our expanding ridge top garden and orchards consist of a variety of fruits, veggies, herbs and flowers. Aside from garden and orchard tasks additional projects may include gathering seaweed and other native wild foods, cooking, canning, fermenting foods, making herbal preparations, habitat restoration, brush and trail clearing, small scale green building and learning how to build and maintain an off-grid infrastructure and solar system. Please read all of our information before contacting us. We require a one month minimum stay, and currently we have space beginning July 1st. Our homestead is remote and therefore not for everyone. We prefer those who want to unplug and enjoy the serenity of a mountain forest. If you are open minded, love to be out doors, want to get your ha...

This is a Standardbred Race Horse (Harness Racing) farm at the foot of Tamborine Mountain. Located 45 minutes from Brisbane in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland. The closest train station is Beenleigh. Your own car is a plus. We welcome working holiday visa holders with good horse experience and most importantly a passion for horses !! If you love wildlife, the outdoors, great views and good food, send us an email (only emails from this site will be responded to). This is very much a cultural exchange (for us and for you) as you will be in our family home sharing our lifestyle. NO SMOKERS OR VEGETARIANS PLEASE. We prefer our helpers to stay 2 weeks or more. Work outside is a major part of what we do so expect to be outside on a rural property as part of the experience. Please message us through this platform to allow us to view your profile The property is located 60km South of Brisbane and 20km West of the Gold Coast on the upper North slope of Mt Tamborine, 320m above sea level. We are surrounded by National Parks and abundant wildlife. The property is 6Ha with a sub-tropical climate and has great country views to the North up to 140km on a clear day. We also have a tennis court (I will always give preference to tennis players who love to cook and eat great food), an outdoor cob pizza oven, chooks/ducks, two Rh...

Come Spend Some Time in the Coromandel 🌿 We have beaches, we have forests, and we have a very casual relationship with clocks. We’re a couple in our 40s–50s looking for people to share our piece of wilderness with. We have two somewhat manic cats, but we ourselves are fairly chill. Over the years we’ve tried a wide range of hobbies and crafts, from home brewing and cheesemaking to glass blowing and hang gliding (some more current than others!). We enjoy meeting creative people and giving everything a go. We’ve travelled through Scandinavia and Asia and look forward to travelling again, but for now we travel vicariously through our visitors’ stories — and love helping you make the most of your adventures in New Zealand. Our property is 26 hectares of regenerating native bush, with a stream, waterfalls, swimming holes, glow worms, and plenty of space to explore. We’re close to Whitianga, Hot Water Beach, and Cathedral Cove, yet the home itself is tucked into the forest where you can ...

My husband and I moved to this 240 acre farm in the South Burnett Region of South East Qld 2 years ago and have recently moved into a purpose built cottage (to reduce our footprint) relying on rainwater for the house and bore water for the gardens and to reduce our footprint further we have installed a composting toilet. 40 fruit trees have been planted and raised garden beds made which is the start of our edible oasis. Next on the jobs list is creating wicking beds from IBC totes and fencing the house yard for our two Jack Russell dogs. We have an old thunder box we would like to restore to make into an outdoor composting toilet (let us know if you’re handy on the tools). There’s plenty to do and learn around the farm depending on your ability and interests. Enthusiasm is a must. There’s gardening and learning about soil health, learning how to erect barbed wire and electric fencing, animal husbandry, building, cleaning and general maintenance. There’s always something different g...

This is an 8 acre historic property on the lake’s edge at Butchers Dam. It is a lush oasis surrounded by DoC parkland, 10km from Alexandra. Back in time... back to nature Hi there. We are a family of ... well, at least 4 people, plus our cat, goat, sheep, bees, hens and roosters. In the spring of 2023, we finally found a place to call our home. Even though it is at the beginning of a longer process of being beautiful, cosy, lovable, ... We put ourselves into a challenge of living here, even in harsh conditions as they are here at this point: - It's in a remote place with only 1 close neighbour (@ 30 m from us). The other families live approx. 400 and 600m away, and others are even further away. - No running water yet. But there is a spring not so far away from where we get water, and we filter it for drinking or use it for washing dishes/clothes or ourselves (outside). And also a well. - People who previously lived (I wouldn't be afraid of saying 'squatted ') here left an unbelievable mess and enormous quantities of trash. So much so that it was hard to enter the house. We are slowly cleaning the place and separating...

** as of 22nd June we are looking for a helper to start round 9th July for an approx 2 week stay ** Your time here counts towards the 88 days working visa requirements as we are in a declared natural disaster region. We offer a luxurious, self contained cottage which is adjacent to our house but is also privately positioned. We have young children and enjoy meeting new people. We are still searching for HelpX for the upcoming NSW school holidays from Sunday 26th June until Sunday 20th July 2026. Some of this time we plan to be away, so it would involve looking after our animals then, including our friendly dog :) I can provide HelpX exchange, nice indoor accommodation in a light filled room with a Queen bed, a weekly yoga class, English conversation and organic meals in exchange for 5 hours HelpX per day x 5 days per week. This includes a variety of tasks with 2 hours project work of your interest each weekday. Flexible timing as to when your hours are volunteered and have the weekends off to explore the beautiful area! My family moved to a riverside farm property several years ago. We live here with our rescue dog, chickens, geese, ducks and elderly cat! We are in the beginning stages of planning and implementing a small productive permaculture fruit, vegetable, tea and flower farm based upon a mix of permaculture, biodynamics, regenerative agricultur...

Our beautiful mountainside home is just 10 minutes from Bellingen, a small vibrant community of creatives, environmentalists, and dairy farmers on the mid north coast of NSW. The city of Coffs harbours is just 30 minutes away. Bellingen is half way between Sydney and Brisbane. We are 10 minutes drive from swimming holes in the Bellinger river and 20 minutes to the ocean for a swim or surf. We are a middle aged couple who have travelled extensively both in Australia and internationally. We have 5 adult children and are ourselves both from large diverse families. We gave up city life in 2024 for the wonderful life in nature and attempting to provide ourselves and others with our own foods from our land. Our property has magical views over the Bellinger valley and beyond. The property backs onto State forest and we take our Dog Cisco for at least daily walks along our beautiful fire trail beneath large gum trees and She Oaks. The property is incredibly peaceful and serene. It’s a speci...

2 Small farms turned into the one near the West Coast of Clare. We keep lots of farm animals like cattle, horses, donkeys and sheep. We produce a wide range of vegetables for ourselves and some for selling. We have two children, went to primary Steiner/ Waldorf school; Frank (25) and Fina(21) and they love having volunteers around the place. Fina is doing equine studies and Frank studies horticulture and loves travelling. We hope you have the ability to adapt to our for most of you different and simple life-style and enjoy farmwork with irregular hours at times, and you will get a true sense of farming life-style! It is important to realise beforehand that you are a volunteer who gets the opportunity to join into our family home/life so please do not compare with a regular paid job.. Most important is that you are happy and enjoy your stay with us... We offer healthy food, wonderful sunsets and rainbows, some Irish traditional music, and the possibility to learn more about old style f...

Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. We have recently found koalas living on the property in the flooded gum trees, with many wallabies and goanna’s are everywhere in summer ! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to relax , . I would be very happy to welcome volunteer teachers who are willing to help at my school for two or three months, or even for a full semester. *I want the volunteers who work at my school to not feel like they are working. Instead, I want them to feel that they are enjoying themselves and having a holiday while staying with us. Their room is fully equipped with air conditioning, hot showers, and a spacious private room that is separate from the main house, so they can feel comfortable and relaxed during their stay.* My name is Edison I have a wife, her name is Nofi. Want out of your van and into a warm, comfortable home? Join us in paradise, for a week of recovery? Happy people, 2 friends or a couple, all welcome! Please be at least in your 20’s, so you don’t remind us of our 3 sons, who recently left home! ;) We’d love to meet you. “Lonely Planet”, the famous world travel guide ranked Taranaki as “the 2nd best place to be on the planet”. Check out our reviews from other HelpX people, who have stayed with us. These beautiful, green (4 hectares) are VERY close to New Plymouth City and Mt Taranaki, yet they have that peaceful feeling of being out in the country.
