I live between a yacht on Sydney Harbour and a house in a tall eucalyptus forest on the mid north coast of NSW, and need some assistance in working on the house and on another yacht.  I'm a carpenter who worked with National Parks and Wildlife for 25 years before retiring, and live with a small dog Billy. We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. We’ve moved from the rainforest retreat into the burbs. Plenty to do and see here including nature walks, repairing and recreating wild areas in the suburbs, nightly fly past of fruit bats a stunning sight, walking distance to the pool, town and the Mullumbimby community gardens. We aim to bring back the frogs, lizards and snakes by creating safe habitat for them and us, a garden to repopulate the insects, the pollinators and the bats and the birds. Mullumbimby has a long history of rewilding the town and protecting habitat, the work of generations of volunteers and a green town council.
