October 30th; Birds have arrived!! the morning parrots join us as we chant each morning on the deck for hand feeding, and our wallabies are carrying their babies in their pouches. This time of year is a type of spring for our rainforest creatures as they come into the summer rains with their new families. Our last help-x volunteer was thrilled to learn how to cook! After helping us weed and prepare the garden for planting, and lots of moving the bok-choy seeds from an older veggie patch to the newly graded hill, our lovely Hong Kong visitor learnt how to prepare lovely meals from the greens patch. We've been clearing the dam, jumping in with long wellington waterproofs on, into the mud, pulling up the bull rushes. It's a lovely spot with views of Montville mountains full of blue water lillies ( a bit like a Monet painting ). We will be soon to move the tree-ferns, and taking out the old gingers that once held the banks from erosion. - Hard work, but so worth it!! W...

i have been on couchsurfing network for years hosting many people.. and i think this HelpX network is a great idea. Actually i prefer it now. I am flexible with my time (especially during the week days) and love to hang out and make new friends.. In the summer I travel around Victoria and Australia a lot, going on road trips with friends and many music festivals -camping in the bush etc.. I am into music (composing/playing); Alternative health / medicine ; Electronics / Engineering / technology ; Anything weird wacky unusual unexplained strange secret, and business combining most of the above, ;) .. The world is full of amazing things and possibilities and Life can never be dull for the seeker with an open mind. I am very passionate about hidden truths and wisdom and always keen to learn and share (if called for) I do not drink or smoke and i like vegetarian food but i m pretty flexible.. During the warmer months me and my crew travel to various outdoor music festivals around Aust...

Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. We have recently found koalas living on the property in the flooded gum trees, with many wallabies and goanna’s are everywhere in summer ! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to relax , . We live in a fun share house in Maryborough, Marry Poppins Town, with awesome meals and a big edible garden. We're Mars, the owner of the property and Tracy, a former theatre/restaurant owner who's cooking the most awesome meals and looking after everyone like a mum. There're 2 adorable dogs in the family, so you must be a dog lover. Also 6 chicken and 2 ducks, so we always have fresh eggs. We need help with building and creating, and with an awesome but overgrown edible garden. We're about to put 12v solar power into the rooms, also natural air-conditioning and are finishing up the spa bath in the 2nd bathroom... so there's a bit for you to learn and lots of knowledge to take home. We like to work with fun and laughter and love to see you letting a bit of your craziness out. Be yourself and join the family... We have had awesome experiences with travellers so far 😃. Please note that there's a minimum of 1 week stay, we do not like to be used as a pit stop. There's no maximum s...

We are a family of five living a self reliant lifestyle, on a small isolated block. We produce our own food, including goat's yoghurt & cheese, wild or raised meats, eggs, fruit and veggies from our established gardens. We have no income from our property as we are always wanting to become more self-sufficient, so guests must be self motivated and hard working, and be able to contribute skills. We do not allow the use of chemicals (shampoo, sunscreen deodorants etc...) as our grey-water goes directly onto the food gardens, but we do supply our own home made organic soaps and creams. Our aim is to create a co-operative living space, so opportunities arise for short and long term or permanent stay. We have three children who we homeschool using natural learning methods. Travellers with children are very welcome. Please visit our website via link below. We are randomly online and prefer telephone contact to make arrangements.

We are 10 minutes from Byron and we can see the famous Byron lighthouse from our front balcony. We love hosting Help X guests. We also need help in managing a 6000 sq meter block with a garden that needs a lot of work and a big house that needs cleaning. Our house has views and a pool and spa as well as a media room, all of which, we share with you. If you are over 25, we may be able to lend you a small Toyota Yaris which is registered for free Byron Bay parking in most places. You can use it for short trips into Byron and but you will need to work out how to share the car and petrol costs if we have several helpers staying. Unfortunately, our insurance does not cover younger drivers and without a car, you may find us too isolated as there is no public transport. We ask for 20 hours of work a week not counting cleaning up after meals and when you are leaving, cleaning the studio or your room. You can either work whenever you choose and record your hours each day...

It looks like we are full until at least mid July but you are still welcomed to make inquiries about future dates. We appreciate help with DIY construction, repairs and maintenance, timber work, boat work, metal work repairs to trailers and for help with gardening, housekeeing, cooking, duck and chicken rearing and dog walking on the beach. Fishing, snorkelling, and rainforest walks can help occupy your spare time. We are looking for reasonably good DIY handymen and women, capable of working effectively, when necessary, on your own or as a pair and, ideally, someone who also has some gardening experience, but that is not really necessary, learn on the job! 😉👍. So you need to be a "morning person" who is happy to start work at 07.00 hr, at least five mornings a week, not a night-owl. This is to avoid the heat of the afternoons at this time of year, mornings ca n be beautiful. Much of the work will be outside, based out of a well-equipped, air-conditioned, woodworking worksho...

This is a Standardbred Race Horse (Harness Racing) farm at the foot of Tamborine Mountain. Located 45 minutes from Brisbane in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland. The closest train station is Beenleigh. Your own car is a plus. We welcome working holiday visa holders with good horse experience and most importantly a passion for horses !! In order to learn your daily task, routine and horses personalities, we will ask you to stay a minimum of 3 weeks. Long stays are really welcome. Your role on the farm would be helping with the daily care of our racehorses. It's an everyday job starting depending of the sun (4.30am in summer and later on winter time). We start each morning training the horses, washing them and feeding them. All the retired horses need to be feed and watered as well. We need to feed and water all the horses again each night before dark. The ideal helpers will be positive, willing and with a some decent english. Because it’s a 30 hec property and there is always some...

My husband and I moved to this 240 acre farm in the South Burnett Region of South East Qld 2 years ago and have recently moved into a purpose built cottage (to reduce our footprint) relying on rainwater for the house and bore water for the gardens and to reduce our footprint further we have installed a composting toilet. 40 fruit trees have been planted and raised garden beds made which is the start of our edible oasis. Next on the jobs list is creating wicking beds from IBC totes and fencing the house yard for our two Jack Russell dogs. We have an old thunder box we would like to restore to make into an outdoor composting toilet (let us know if you’re handy on the tools). There’s plenty to do and learn around the farm depending on your ability and interests. Enthusiasm is a must. There’s gardening and learning about soil health, learning how to erect barbed wire and electric fencing, animal husbandry, building, cleaning and general maintenance. There’s always something different g...

One helper for 7 to 10 days or a couple traveling together for 5 to 10 days I am retired and reside on a property situated in the Noosa Hinterlands I have two daughters who live close and two granddaughters who I love to spoil. I also have a large dog who is turning 5 years old and enjoys nothing more than her afternoon walks around the property followed by playtime and then food. The helpers must not be afraid of an extra large dog, she is contained but enjoys interaction with others. Volunteers would experience the joy associated with living on a small acreage property of 28 acres in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland 20 minutes from Noosa and also experience the peace and tranquility that small acreage living has to offer. Volunteer help for 4 hours per day each person which would including but not limited to gardening, pruning and mulching (must be use to physical work) also some housework and assisting with home cooked Australian meals in exchange for accommodation with own private...

Hi, it's Stephen and Philamae here. We have a beautiful rural property in Buckland, Tasmania (45mins NE from Hobart airport). The views are stunning - the accommodation is lovely and we are running it as holiday accommodation as we move towards turning it into a funky retreat space. The experience of the place - and Tasmania as a whole - is soul stirring. Lots of beautiful animals surround us - sheep, wallabies, possums, echidnas, bunnies and the occasional deer. A pair of the endangered and majestic wedge-tailed eagles live 1km away and often soar above us. This link has a lot more photos of our place : https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/1404048948970319721 (we have a series of 7 wellness retreats running 5 June to end August: see www.sherwoodloves.com.au/retreats-overview ) The next specific needs are: a) any time from now onwards - Mostly cleaning and bedrooms resetting, & some gardening. Generally we like stays of 4+ weeks but in this case we'd also be happy to host for a ...

Hi you young and beautiful travelers, Bundaberg is a less known touristic town, with a mild climate, beautiful beaches and wonderful surroundings. It is also an agricultural country town with many backpackers hostels . With a bit of lack there might be opportunities for paid work on a farm. It’s only 350km north of Brisbane and easily reachable by train. My home is only a few minutes drive from the town center, yet secluded and peaceful, sitting on 2.5 acres. I am looking for people who would like to visit this promising coastal town and help with general house and backyard maintenance, around 4 -5 hours a day, 6 days a week. The person helping me will have a home away from home and a cosy room to rest in. I am hoping he/she will treat the place with respect and consideration, observing the few requirements related to the use of bathroom and kitchen. Otherwise, regretfully, we will have to part ways sooner then expected. A good home cooked meal and an occasional glass of wine is...

Hello travellers! We’ve recently built a wonderfully energy efficient passive solar house, complete with off-grid solar for all our energy needs, rain water collection for all our water needs, and a worm farm waste management system for natural black and grey water processing. We’ve put a lot of work in to achieve a fossil-fuel-free, all-electric, household, with as small an environmental footprint as possible. We’re also lucky to live in a beautiful rural/coastal area near Inverloch, Victoria, approximately 1 hour 45 minutes south-east of Melbourne. We are close to some of Victoria’s most famous wildlife and wilderness attractions, including the Penguin Parade at Phillip Island, the Koala Conservation Reserve, and hiking and camping at Wilson’s Promontory (not to mention numerous local beaches and fishing spots only 10 minutes away!). With our house complete, we’re now working to progress the landscaping aspects of our project. We’d be very appreciative of a helping hand or two to ...

We invite travellers to come share our piece of paradise! It is peaceful and relaxed, with a wonderful array of flora and fauna to view and explore! We live and work on our small farm, 15km from Katherine. We have a variety of animals, horses, cattle, sheep, assorted poultry (hens, Indian Runner ducks, geese, Guinea Fowl)as well as dogs and cats.
