We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. We have a self built off grid house in the forest. The surrounding habitat reserve consists of 1000ha of varied forest types and habitat, heaps of birds, wildlife and bushwalks. We are 10 minutes from Huonville and about 50 minutes south from Hobart. We provide Helpers with their own guest room. You share our living and kitchen. Note that the guest room has almost no heating so can be cold in winter, but we supply plenty of warm bedding.
