I've previously been a Helpx host with my family winery and vineyard, as well as my farm property south of Adelaide. These days the winery is winding down, but in the past 18 months I've tripled the farm size to 130Ha (325ac). I'm currently growing hay and agisting sheep, with dozens of kangaroos for company. The farm is minutes from Victor Harbor (population 16,000), but the feeling is remote, as neighbouring houses can't be seen. The big projects at the moment are fencing and laying pipework for water for the sheep. There's also things like cutting firewood, machinery maintenance, road building, shed building and looking after a patch of native scrub. I have a covered orchard and the beginnings of a veggie garden, but I have no idea what I'm doing, so someone who could help with that would be much appreciated. The property is off-grid, but has all the modern conveniences of power, water, heating and air conditioning, all of which I've done myself. Most of the time you would be wo...

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

This is a Standardbred Race Horse (Harness Racing) farm at the foot of Tamborine Mountain. Located 45 minutes from Brisbane in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland. The closest train station is Beenleigh. Your own car is a plus. We welcome working holiday visa holders with good horse experience and most importantly a passion for horses !! In order to learn your daily task, routine and horses personalities, we will ask you to stay a minimum of 3 weeks. Long stays are really welcome. Your role on the farm would be helping with the daily care of our racehorses. It's an everyday job starting depending of the sun (4.30am in summer and later on winter time). We start each morning training the horses, washing them and feeding them. All the retired horses need to be feed and watered as well. We need to feed and water all the horses again each night before dark. The ideal helpers will be positive, willing and with a some decent english. We live in a beautiful part of Queensland. Our property is just north of the Sunshine Coast and is where we live a sustainable, permaculture lifestyle. We would like help in the garden, growing food, in the kitchen preparing and preserving food, feeding and caring for farm animals.. We have chickens, ducks, geese, cattle and goats, which we will require help with occasionally. We manage these in a rotational grazing system. We practice permaculture and regenerative agriculture. Guests will learn as much as they want to about the way we manage the land to grow and create healthy food. We believe that food is medicine and good food and being active is essential to living well. We are approximately 1 hours drive from Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. You will need to get a train or bus to Gympie, and we can collect from there. Please note - if you have previously contacted me, I have no old messages and so you will need to contact me again. I've been locked out of helpx for a month or so.

Hi there helpers! We are sammy and nick We have moved from our farm to a new place on the coorong in SA! The local town of Meningie! We have built a beautiful home on the lake. and have been hosting helpers for almost 8 years! Check our reviews The position we have currently would suit either a couple or a single. The position is a bee keepers assistant and you would be required to help with bee keeping tasks with Nick like extracting and labelling honey and also taking care of some light house chores like mowing lawn and basic tidy up. If you have your own car that is preferred but not a dealbreaker. ability to drive a manual car would be good. Itโs can be hot and sweaty work outdoors in the sun and you cannot be allergic to bees. It can also be very messy and sticky. We would provide you with a room in our home. It is a new build on the lakeside with our dog hoodoo and Nick and myself. We are flexible with task times as Nick and myself still work while managing the bees. So times...

** as of 20th September we are looking for a helper for an approx 2 week stay. We are in a declared natural disaster region, therefore the time spent on our property qualifies towards the 88 day visa requirements ** We are a family in rural Australia who have helpers (only 1 helper at any one time) stay with us from time to time. Our experience has been that shorter stays of about 2 weeks work best for our situation. We live on a beautiful property on the Nymboida River, a 15 minute drive from the town of Dorrigo and 40 minutes drive from Bellingen. We offer a luxurious, self contained cottage which is adjacent to our house but is also privately positioned. We have young children and enjoy meeting new people. We have a great swimming hole on the river (that we share with platypus and other creatures) and there are kayaks to use. Our wood fired sauna is a great way to end the day :) Our property is teeming with wildlife and 7 riverside hectares are set aside as a conservation area i...

We have enjoyed the journey of building our small eco-home in Yanchep with lots of wonderful HelpXers, and we are now building an extension to our family home in Mt Lawley close to the Perth CBD. Mt Lawley is in a great location for visitors to Perth. It's close to the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), public transport, wetland walks and bikeways ~ and we have bikes for you to use! While our big backyard in Mt Lawley has been much neglected in recent years, in the past it has provided us with a wonderful bounty including eggs, vegis, bananas, mangos, avocados, goats milk, firewood and even hardwood for our kitchen benchtops. This came from a tree which we planted over our 2nd son's placenta 40 years ago! Our home in Mt Lawley has an eclectic, retro green style and all cleaning and personal care products are biodegradable and SLS-free. There is always some gardening and maintenance work required in both Yanchep and Mt Lawley. The design of our Yanchep home (opposite the ocean a...

We live on a 5 acre hobby farm in the beautiful Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania. Our family consists of three young adult children (two live at home), two horses, many chickens, ducks, geese, goats and two gorgeous dogs. We grow organic vegetables and breed heritage chickens in an attempt to be more sustainable. Jobs involve general gardening, helping with the animals and housekeeping. If you would like a Tassie small farm experience message us with some details of the work you have previously done. We have separate accommodation, with a bathroom. All our HelpXers have loved working and living with us and I hope you will too (please remember Tassie is a cold place in winter). There are many areas of natural beauty in Southern Tasmania which are all fairly close to us. For example, the Hartz mountains, Hastings Caves and the Tahune Airwalk. We live close to a sleepy village called Cygnet and Hobart is only a 40min drive away. (Unfortunately we can't approve 2nd year visas)

DAYS SPENT WORKING HERE QUALIFY FOR 2nd & 3rd YEAR VISAS, postcode 2469, under bushfire and flood provisions. We are near the Shoalwater Marine Park and Penguin Island 40mins from Perth city centre. Very close to public transport, cafes and library. Ideal for beach walking, diving, swimming, cycling, fishing, sailing and windsurfing (beach is 60 metres away). Accommodation would take form of a fully insulated cute tiny garden room with access to undercover cooking area and bathroom. IT is small so please See photos. On week days we are usually working in Perth so we cant provide meals, but a well-stocked supermarket is 200 metres away. When possible we can take turns for meals if possible. We average 2/3 hours a day painting, plumbing gardening and other repairs and can negotiate best time to do that, for example maybe itโs more convenient to do two longer days during the week.Greg is usually available to help you with your car or take you fishing, boating or sightseeing if youโre willing to free him up from his other commitments. I live in the Sydney suburb of Wollstonecraft which is a 10 minute walk to 2 stations and various buses. It is about 25 minutes from my house to the city. I am fully vaccinated and require the same of a helper. Before you read further - I only take Non-smokers (meaning you do not smoke at all - not that you smoke outside). If I find that you do smoke you will be asked to leave that day - I (and my children when they are here) are all asthmatics. I also cannot do scents, particularly old spice, any spray on deodorant or lynx. I am allergic to mint so you cannot chew gum. I try to be as eco friendly as possible and I ask you do the same in my house. This means sorting rubbish, saving water (4 minute shower only plus other measures) and saving electricity (ie turning off unnecessary lights) and generally being environmentally conscious. If you decide that you are going to ask to stay at my house I will take it that you agree with the boundaries' above and that you will work with me o...

So times...

A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF AN ANAM CARA VOLUNTEER On arrival on the Tuesday afternoon volunteers are greeted and have time to settle into their space. Each volunteer is given their own private lotus bell tent, or occasionally a room in the house if the tent does not suit. The tents are situated next to our beautiful oak grove, close enough to all the facilities of the house to be easeful for the coming and going of the community, but far enough away that you can enjoy the peace of birds, kangaroos, deer and possums around your den.
