Great Mackerel Beach is a magical place in Sydney. A small and peaceful community with lots of wildlife; expect to see wallabies and plenty of local birds. G'day. we are a small tribe of people there are 3 adults, 2 kids, 2 big emus and hundreds of plants and animals. there's always other helpful humans around as well.we are spread accross 2 main shantys and then theres other shelters too. We live right up in the bush in mixed tree country, mainly a mix of tea tree scrub, grass land and dry sclerophyll forest. it is managed in a variety of ways including cool burns, thinning, slashing etc. there are tracks all over to explore and a few caves to hang out in. there is a creek and a few dams. the bird life here is amazing. we are 3km from the beach. we back on to a huge reserve so no Neighbors close and plenty of bush and wildlife. Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. I'm updating my entry with availability as I've just had someone change their travel plans.These are the dates I have available: 15th July to 25th July,4th August to 13th August and then anytime from the 26th October onwards. Outside of these dates I am away or already have people booked to stay. I have an opening for a volunteer person to help me with everyday life of looking after animals and some gardening, weeding & basic maintenance of the farm and some house duties in COLLINSVILLE north Qld. SUNSHINE COAST - HINTERLAND - At present, we are seeking helpers for a 4 week stay during August.- Accommodation is a self-contained studio which includes kitchen, en-suite and wi-fi. Guests help with house and garden for 12 hours per week per guest. The help roster is Monday to Thursday - in summer from 6am to 9am and in winter 7am to 10am. Arrival is after 4pm and departure is before 11am. We offer accommodation and two dinners - usually Monday and Thursday. You provide your other meals.
