My husband and I moved to this 240 acre farm in the South Burnett Region of South East Qld 2 years ago and have recently moved into a purpose built cottage (to reduce our footprint) relying on rainwater for the house and bore water for the gardens and to reduce our footprint further we have installed a composting toilet. 40 fruit trees have been planted and raised garden beds made which is the start of our edible oasis. Next on the jobs list is creating wicking beds from IBC totes and fencing the house yard for our two Jack Russell dogs. I am a retired secondary school teacher and I love gardening, singing and playing guitar, hiking, presenting on community radio and travelling. I live in a lovely historic cottage on a large block with a permanent creek a few minutes walk from the centre of Willunga in South Australia. Willunga is a small country town in a wine growing region and is famous for its cafes and Saturday morning Farmers Market. My home is about 45 mins south of Adelaide and a short drive to the beach. I can provide a room within my house for one or two people and delicious vegetarian meals in exchange for working with me on improving my organic garden. It is also an agricultural country town with many backpackers hostels . With a bit of lack there might be opportunities for paid work on a farm. It’s only 350km north of Brisbane and easily reachable by train. My home is only a few minutes drive from the town center, yet secluded and peaceful, sitting on 2.5 acres. I am looking for people who would like to visit this promising coastal town and help with general house and backyard maintenance, around 4 -5 hours a day, 6 days a week. We are located 100 kms west of Cairns with buses from Cairns to Mareeba daily. On our farm we grow tea tree, limes, various vegetable crops and cattle.
