We have approximately 2000 hectares of undulating country, situated in the middle of New South Wales. We run sheep, cattle, and do some farming. My husband and I moved to this 240 acre farm in the South Burnett Region of South East Qld 2 years ago and have recently moved into a purpose built cottage (to reduce our footprint) relying on rainwater for the house and bore water for the gardens and to reduce our footprint further we have installed a composting toilet. 40 fruit trees have been planted and raised garden beds made which is the start of our edible oasis. Next on the jobs list is creating wicking beds from IBC totes and fencing the house yard for our two Jack Russell dogs. I live in Kuranda, but travel often so plenty of opportunities to see new places. I'm a beekeeper that works between Cairns and Cooktown. This time of year my work is situated north of cairns so there plenty opportunity to explore north were not alot of tourist go. The work involves collecting bee hives for honey extraction and queen bee rearing this gives us plenty of time to explore. In spare time we can go to the local Rivers (Baron Gorge), local swimming holes or hiking. Task also involve house work and gardening. The work is not hard, suits male or females and is always varied, recreational activities after work as swimming, hanging out at the beach and camping.
