My husband and I moved to this 240 acre farm in the South Burnett Region of South East Qld 2 years ago and have recently moved into a purpose built cottage (to reduce our footprint) relying on rainwater for the house and bore water for the gardens and to reduce our footprint further we have installed a composting toilet. 40 fruit trees have been planted and raised garden beds made which is the start of our edible oasis. Next on the jobs list is creating wicking beds from IBC totes and fencing the house yard for our two Jack Russell dogs. I live in Kuranda, but travel often so plenty of opportunities to see new places. I'm a beekeeper that works between Cairns and Cooktown. This time of year my work is situated north of cairns so there plenty opportunity to explore north were not alot of tourist go. The work involves collecting bee hives for honey extraction and queen bee rearing this gives us plenty of time to explore. In spare time we can go to the local Rivers (Baron Gorge), local swimming holes or hiking. Task also involve house work and gardening. The work is not hard, suits male or females and is always varied, recreational activities after work as swimming, hanging out at the beach and camping.

BANGALOW (NEAR BYRON BAY) We live on a farm near Bangalow which is about 15 minutes drive from Byron Bay in Northern NSW. We are looking for a couple / few friends to help with a variety of work on our property. The work varies and may involve painting, building, maintenance, working in the paddock, gardening, planting, fencing and general work around the house and farm. We have fully self contained, clean and comfortable accommodation in Bangalow. The accommodation consists of two bedrooms, living areas, kitchen, veranda, bathroom and laundry. Wi-fi is also available. You need to be motivated, capable, strong and able to work both independently and under instruction. If you don't have experience in some of this work, but are motivated to learn, it is easy to pick up and we are here to help and explain if needed. We are interested in help as we are now in our late 70's but fit and well. We need help with maintenance, experience would be very helpful for building, carpentry (WOULD LOVE SOMEONE WHO HAS CARPENTRY SKILLS/HANDY PERSON /DYI SKILLS),(cutting up firewood) some mechanical work would be great as well, basically general help if possible. We run a small accommodation business consisting of 10 safari style tents and we raise Highland cattle, miniature donkeys, sheep, chickens and 3 horses.
