If you'd like to experience natural, simple living and see what it is like to start a life relying more on yourself than the consumer driven culture, and hear about the realities of "community living", then we may just be a match. We are a young family with four kids under 10, trying hard to transition into self sufficiency. We live off grid, on a bush block. It is a 15 minutes drive to town. A bus can be caught 2.4km away. Coonabarabran is Australia's astronomy capital. The observatory here allows space and planet enthusiasts to explore their interests. We produce our own goat's milk, eggs and have been enjoying tones of salad greens. Now its time for spring planting. My kids are homeschooled, don't eat or watch junk, not allowed tech devices, run and play with each other, help garden and clean up, my 5 year old chops wood, mills flour, my 8 year sews and weaves - and they love the lifestyle. If we watch a film, we discuss the subliminal messages. I spent summers in Russia on dac...

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

Hello from the beautiful Dandenong Ranges! I need one strong helper from October 26. We will be running a mud brick making and rendering workshop. Lots of mud and sand needs moving and assistance during the workshop. I am a self-employed ARTIST in a very colourful home. I have 1 dog and 2 lovely human housemates. EXPECTATIONS Enthusiastic, trustworthy English-speaking helpers who enjoy a laugh, are practical and can work INDEPENDENTLY. There are several varied DIY projects on the go. Most of the work is outside, you need to be physically fit and prepared for manual labour. I look forward to hearing from travellers who can help with limited instructions, unsupervised and have a passion for gardening, fence repair, building and DIY projects. Do you know how to use a drill, a drop saw, a sander and an angle grinder? Garden maintenance duties include but not limited to: use a whipper snipper to tidy garden edges; rake leaves; hand weed, digging, collecting fallen branches and sticks ...

Hi adventurers! We are Luke & Anita and live with our 2yr old Kelpie Cross sheep dog ‘Trixie’. We love being around likeminded people who are respectful & kind to the earth and each other; thoughtful to reduce, re-use & repurpose resources where possible. ABOUT OUR PROJECTS 1. Town (Trevallyn) Our home overlooks Launceston and Kanamaluka (where the Tamar River meets the North & South Esk Rivers). We live alongside a lovely park with basket-ball court and easy walking distance to the famous Cataract Gorge; full of beautiful walking trails, places to rock climb, swim and mountain bike. We've almost finished renovating here though there's still a few things to tick off like enamel painting, gardening + general cleaning etc. 2. ‘Ashburn’ (just outside the village of Carrick which is 20km south west of Launceston) This is Anita’s parents farm which they have protected much of the bush for land & native species conservation. Here they run fine-wool sheep and we like to help the...

Hi beautiful people! I’m Christine, a happy spirited former language and arts teacher working across two continents. Since I retired I work in the natural health field. I live on an urban block called The Roo‘s Pouch, where I maintain a sustainable vegetable garden and created a community of nice people living with me. I live in one of the buildings on this sunny property which runs on rainwater harvesting. We avoid chlorine and contaminates by filtering, harmonizing, and energizing our own water though Ionisation. Water conservation is part of life for me. You can come to Maryborough via plane, bus or train. The Hervey Bay Airport is only 30min from my home. There are meanwhile several bus companies to choose from. If you use the train please book Maryborough town from the drop down menu. Hi helpers We are sammy and nick We have moved from our farm to a new place on the coorong in SA! The local town of Meningie! We have built a beautiful home on the lake. and have been hosting helpers for almost 8 years! Check our reviews The position we have currently would suit either a couple or a single. The position is a bee keepers assistant and you would be required to help with bee keeping tasks with Nick like extracting and labelling honey and also taking care of some light house chores like mowing lawn and basic tidy up. If you have your own car that is preferred but not a dealbreaker. ability to drive a manual car would be good. It’s can be hot and sweaty work outdoors in the sun and you cannot be allergic to bees. It can also be very messy and sticky. We would provide you with a room in our home. It is a new build on the lakeside with our dog hoodoo and Nick and myself. We are flexible with task times as Nick and myself still work while managing the bees. So times when w...

Hi, i have a half acre property in the hills out of Perth. I also have a large room with ensuite for guest use. There is public transport available but it is not as frequent as in the city. I really need help in my garden and in doing minor home renovations and am hoping that this is a way of keeping us all happy. I am happy to provide accommodation and some meals - we can discuss that if you contact me. Regards Heather
