My husband and I moved to this 240 acre farm in the South Burnett Region of South East Qld 2 years ago and have recently moved into a purpose built cottage (to reduce our footprint) relying on rainwater for the house and bore water for the gardens and to reduce our footprint further we have installed a composting toilet. 40 fruit trees have been planted and raised garden beds made which is the start of our edible oasis. Next on the jobs list is creating wicking beds from IBC totes and fencing the house yard for our two Jack Russell dogs. The property is a small Beef cattle farm on the mid-north coast. Located 40 minutes drive from Port Macquarie town and beaches and 20 minutes from Wauchope and the nearest train station. This place is a really good option for someone on their way between Sydney and Brisbane who wants to break the trip for a few weeks. We are a couple with an adult son who is away at University. We have horses, chickens, ducks,3 dogs and cattle. We have a 2nd farm near Kempsey where we run cattle so sometimes we go over there to work as well. My husband and I both work from home although sometimes I have to spend days away doing fieldwork. We are a family-run commercial mango farm, producing and drying mangoes. The work is mainly gardening drying mangoes and packing dried fruit and sometime we dry pineapple and dry banana, cleaning and cooking.
