...The Quiet Retreat, a Lifestyle Property...!!! I am located in the north of the East Coast of Tasmania. With only the help of real hard working wwoofer's/ HelpX'ers , I started to build the house and clear the land here 25 years ago, so this place is a BIG BIG credit to all my helpers who worked hard, enjoyed their stay and left their footprint..! I feel that for the helpers who come here, maybe, apart from the usual work, self improvement/development could be one of their priorities... a good library of books is available and some very nice music...and of course "grumpy" me and please understand that I am not a good cook, so help there is esp. welcome, vegetarian only. The good cook mentioned in a lot of reviews has moved on . In the past I practiced meditation/looked at Zen/Osho/Vipassana etc, now I am in the winter years of my life ...LOL..( YES, read the latest feedback carefully, "he says with a smile).. I love music and most of the time there is music in the house. Thi...

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

Please read our profile carefully, and see our website and instagram. If you feel you are the right person or people for us, we look forward to receiving your application. This is a permaculture small farm on the edge of Violet Town, just 800m from the train station. The farm is well established, as most tree planting was done between 1996 and 2000, and the tree crops are well maintained and productive. We have a large established fruit and nut orchard, an olive grove, vegetable gardens, chickens, milking goats, bees, forestry for shelter and timber, and large dam for irrigation and swimming. Our house is made of timber and mud brick, and we catch our own water. Most of our food comes from the house garden and farm, including a huge range of fresh fruit all year round, a range of vegetables for each season, honey, cheese, olive oil, table olives, and home killed or hunted meat. We eat shared meals, most meals are vegetarian. Type of jobs: farm and garden work, combined with learni...

We are a couple in our late sixties and have traveled overseas extensively and enjoy different cultures. Our neighbours have had helpx helpers before and highly recommend we do the same. We own and live on 5 acres with a 4 bedroom house in a rural setting. We have large gardens and fruit trees that need minor attention, nothing major ! We have a beach nearby and a great country pub and a large town 30 minutes south. For a real authentic Australian rural resort experience you definitely won’t be disappointed.

Hi my name is Joanna and Im an open minded, friendly, well travelled single woman. I love to learn about different cultures and languages and share the beauty of the paradise I call home. I live on a 1/4 acre palm fringed block about 15 minutes out of the cairns city. It is very quiet and you will look over the large swimming pool from our breezy deck. Gaze at the stars and the mountains nearby. It is like living in nature with out going too far from the city. My house is a brand new 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, architectural dream. I need your help with garden maintenance, cleaning, odd jobs and driving me to and from the town as I am now in a wheelchair. I am very independent and able to get around. I really would like company and to share a chat over delicious meals. We share the space with Charlie a friendly well behaved golden retriever who is mega laid back.

Hello everybody, Bonjour français welcomed! We are a young family of 4. We live on the Northern Beaches in beautiful Pittwater on an island in 1 of the 3 harbours of Sydney, so boat access only!!! It is a beautiful place, with a very close knit community and very different from most places you've been to! Not easy every day but I guess that is also what brought us here! We really like to meet new people and to share our simple lifestyle. We have a few jobs that may be required so depending if you are a single person or a couple and depending of what is needing we might change things around. We are in the process of building so things to do with preparing the built or carrying building materials can be things on the job list. But we would love to get some help around the house. And also maybe some help with kids. We'd be looking for 4-5 hours work a day for 5 days. This could be changed to 6 hours a day 3 days a week if we really start the build. Everything will be talked to wi...

Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. Seven years ago, Tim and I moved to our little farm, and we've been busy ever since; growing a garden, planting trees, and learning how to care for the land. We joined Landcare to better understand the local trees and wildlife, especially the ones that need a bit of extra protection. Tim is a retired engineer and has a knack for designing and building, so he’s been having a great time working on the infrastructure around the property. As for me, I’m a creative arts teacher and public health practitioner. I still teach both online and on campus at an Australian university, balancing my work with farm life. One of my biggest passions here is my rose garden with 400 fragrant bushes, and I'm dreaming of making rose water and rose oil one day. We’ve also got a thriving organic fruit and veggie garden, with plenty of fruit trees and a mix of seasonal vegetables. Our dam is well stocked with yabbies, and we’re just a short stroll from the Murray River, perfect for a bit of fishing. I lo...

Hello travellers ! The rain(unless a cyclone comes down from the North) has basically finished now..., from now on it's going to be warm and getting warmer..., to HOT(Jan/Feb) I invite helpers who are travelling in a camper van or similar to come and help here. This is a "very special location" because it is 'away' from the hustle of Margaret River(20 min away) and only 15 min drive to Augusta..., also It is very close to Hamelin Bay and it's right beside a tall forest National Park. All the usual native animals roam freely over this land - Kangaroo, Emu, Possum, reptile and so many birds are in abundance on this land. I need a couple of helpers here..., who are staying in their own camper van, roof top tent or similar..., I provide clean toilets and showers plus rain water. There are also some really nice and private 'set up' camp sites here. I ask for 2 hours easy work in exchange for helpers experiencing this special location !. The kind of help needed is....., weeding..., r...

We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. This is a 60ha peaceful, forested property in southeast Queensland, 70km from Gympie or Maryborough. 10ha of rainforest bordering a freshwater creek and swimming hole with lungfish, platypus and turtles. We are located in overlapping environments (temperate/tropical, coastal/inland), creating a vast diversity of life in a variety of habitats. We are slowly building shelter (timber, solar powered cottage) and outbuildings, mixed orchard, veggie garden and food trails. We have now completed new visitor quarters. Our general philosophy is to rehabilitate forest and ecosystem while eking out an existence for ourselves. Work includes weeding, gardening, orchard care, bee keeping, building/construction, tree planting, propagation and forest management. Electricity is from a stand alone(off grid)solar power system. Outside toilet, shower and fire bath. 30km to nearest shop. Accommodation for 2 people in separate wwoofers quarters, caravan or BYO. Cooking is done on fire or in cob oven{wood-f...

This is a 13 acre (5.1 ha) property in Robinson, west of Albany. It is a new property for us so we are currently planting trees to re-vegetate the property. We have an extensive home orchard and several vegetable gardens. Our animals include chickens, geese, ducks and horses as well as rapidly increasing herd of milking goats. We like having help for a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours late afternoon - generally coinciding with feeding animals and milking/bottle feeding times.

Hi beautiful people! I’m Christine, a happy spirited former language and arts teacher working across two continents. Since I retired I work in the natural health field. I live on an urban block called The Roo‘s Pouch, where I maintain a sustainable vegetable garden and created a community of nice people living with me. I live in one of the three buildings on this sunny property which runs on rainwater harvesting. We avoid chlorine and contaminates by filtering, harmonizing and ionizing our water. So water conservation is part of life for me. The corner block is in a suburb of Maryborough. There are 3 beautiful public parks surrounding with lots of kangaroos hopping peacefully around, near to the Mary River. The historic city of Maryborough has a lot to offer and is the home town of Mary Poppins. We are only 30 min by car from the ocean in Hervey Bay with wale watching when in season. Hervey Bay is at the doorsteps of Fraser Island/K’Gari. I offer for single or couple a bedroom wit...

We live in a fun share house in Maryborough, Miss Poppins Town, with awesome meals and a big edible garden. We're Mars, the owner of the property and Tracy, a former theatre/restaurant owner who's cooking the most awesome meals and looking after everyone like a mum. There're 2 adorable dogs in the family, so you must be a dog lover. We need help with building and creating, and with an awesome but overgrown garden. In addition, we're about to put 12v solar power into the rooms, also natural air-conditioning and are finishing up the spar bath in the 2nd bathroom... so there's a bit for you to learn and lots of knowledge to take home. We have had great experiences with travellers so far as Mars's former partner has been on HelpX for quite some time. Maryborough is only 30 minutes away from Hervey Bay with beautiful beaches overlooking Frazer Island. Maryborough is a beautiful old heritage town with a lot of old buildings and parks all around. We're just a few metres away from the Mary ...

...The Quiet Retreat, a Lifestyle Property...!!!

KINGSTON HOMESTAY: Easy going, friendly host needs help with gardening, landscaping and maybe renovating. I’ve been hosting couch-surfers which has been a lot of fun, as I enjoy meeting travellers; when friends recommended trying helpx as it’s hard for me to keep up with all the odd jobs that need doing around my place. I live alone with my 3 cats. If you’d like to stay in your own room with a queen sized bed, good WiFi, dresser and wardrobe (sharing kitchen, toilet and bathroom) in my little house in Kingston (a 15 min. drive or 25 min. bus ride south of Hobart) with a big garden then please contact me. No smoking inside please. There's also off street parking available for a car or camper van. No arachnophobics please as I prefer spiders to fly spray :) Bus to Hobart is only a 10 minute walk away in Central Kingston, the supermarket is a 5 minute walk away. The beautiful Kingston Beach is a 20 minute walk away, which is the start of the Alum Cliffs walk. Also close by are spo...

We have recently found koalas living on the property in the flooded gum trees, with many wallabies and goanna’s are everywhere in summer ! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to sit /relax , meditate or just ponder the world ....

Graham has some woodworking skill but needs help during that time with various tasks and we are willing to give you a comfortable bed, good food and company and access to bathroom and washing machine in exchange for 4 hours help per day, 5 days per week. Our preference is for a single person or couple who have some skil...
