Assist over 500 sheep in giving birth and bottle feed tiny little lambs and all the other disgusting and cute things that go along with it. Lambing season is hard work and we work in shifts of 9 hours, but with 5-10 volunteers living in the house you’ll have time for fun in the sun, 2 days off each week with a household shift (cooking and cleaning). This farm from around 1864 in Hardanger has not been run for about 30 years, and has been brought back to life by us and a bunch of volunteers .Tessa grew up in Oslo and moved here 2017, and Ander came in 2019 and is from Basque country. Ander and Tessa take care of of their newly planted apple plantation, and make apple juice and cider. We got some chickens and Ander keeps bees, and we make firewood for the house. The farm overlooks the glacier Folgefonna across the fjord. Tessa and Ander often work late. Sometimes we are social and sometimes we all need time on our own. It is therefore great if the volunteers can be self sufficient in their free time and manage to transport themselves around. Our car only has 2 seats, and is in use daily. We are currently looking for one or 2 keen, strong and enthusiastic gardeners, for the last week of may and the first week of June to help us prepare for the hot dry summer after a very rainy spring. Experience with garden equipment like strimmers and hedge trimmers would be an advantage. Normally I have need of someone to help with gardening, and also seeing to rescue dogs many other jobs besides. I garden organically and only use my own compost. I have decided to paint the outside of the house but it needs to be cleaned before it can be painted. Are you good at DIY? Do you like dogs and the outdoor life. I take in rescue dogs and then rehome when they are ready, you definitely need to like animals. At the moment I'm in need of general help and tidying mostly outside - there is a lot of weeding to do and cutting back nettles and brambles. There I live, together with my two dogs Saffran and Kira, in a spacious house surrounded by garden and forest land of 1.5 hectares.
