Vacancy now We are a family with two boys (10 and 12), living in the country-side between Auckland and Hamilton. We are a handy first or last stop as we are only 40 min from Auckland airport yet in beautiful, rural surroundings. We have chickens and a cat and 12 farm dogs at work. We always welcome help with the house and various jobs around the place. The activities vary depending on the season (harvest fruit and vegetables, AirBnb changeover, cut firewood, spring clean, gardening, painting, cut hedges, help at the local school and community events, etc). And there are ALWAYS two boys wanting to play - cards, rugby, soccer, board games, hide and seek, make fires outside. We go to town at least once a week for groceries and errands and sometimes we go to friends and help at their place for a change of scenery. I know what it is like to learn a new language and I can help you with your English if you want. We have traveled and enjoy sharing our piece of New Zealand with visitors. We...

Kia ora travelers! My home is in the middle of beautiful Honeymoon Valley, surrounded by native rainforest, birds and organic gardens. We build this earth house in the 1990s, using local clay and roof gardens, with lots of help from volunteers. We did a lot of 'woofing' ourselves, before settling here in the rural Far North, a very quiet area, to enjoy nature and remote living. The closest shop, the famous "Bush Fairy Dairy", is 7 km away, Taipa Beach 20 km, and Auckland 350 km towards south. I am part of the Honeymoon Valley landcare group (honeymoonvalleylandcare.org.nz). We protect native forest, birds, lizards and insects by trapping predators and eradicating invasive weeds. You can help with organic gardening: vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit trees, landcare work, mowing, brush-cutting, compost-making, maintenance and fixing things (basic carpentry, painting), sewing, cleaning, chopping firewood, etc. I have chickens and a small goldfish pond ;-)) I cook mostly with vegeta...

We have an island retreat in Nelson (near Motueka) on 10 acres and a home in central Nelson. There is plenty to do with weeding, taking care of the garden and cutting grass. Our home near Motueka is on the beach. The ideal helper is self sufficient, detail oriented and a self starter. Our island retreat is about 100 metres off Port Motueka, then another kilometre along the beach facing Tasman bay and across from the Abel Tasman National Park. Our home in central Nelson is a 5 minute walk from down town. The work consists of gardening and general housekeeping. An average of about 4 hours work per day is sufficient. Recommend a week stay or more because of the logistics of getting you there and showing you around etc. There is a limited wifi that is sufficient for email, and internet. We will supply some but not all food. We usually have potatoes, oats, and bread and all condiments and coffee as well as olive oil. Lemons and limes are grown off the back deck. We encourage ...

We are a busy family on a five acre block which often needs work done on it. We are just on the outskirts of Christchurch. We have a small Bach in the mountains where The Lord of the Rings was filmed, so this maybe of interest to helpers. Liking animals would be preferable as we have horses, chickens, a dog and a cat. Our daughter has learning Spanish so Spanish speaking travellers, while not a requirement would offer her some practise. Meeting travelers from around the world will be of interest to us. Being able to help with some cooking, gardening and other jobs around the property is what we are looking for. We have two double rooms, one with an ensuite, the other with an adjacent bathroom.

Update, possible accommodation available for kiwifruit staff. My caravan is available, not fancy but clean & waterproof. I'm a beekeeper in need of assistance, either with the bees directly or not. I'm located 16km South of Te Puke on a property that has a back boundary of native forest. I'm usually able to host people at any time of year, but am busiest in the spring. I currently have building projects happening, as well as lots of painting, waxing new bee frames, and also hands on beekeeping for anyone who is keen. I also keep sheep and cattle on the property here, and hunt deer and pigs in the forest. These grass and forest fed animals form a large part of the menu here, so vegetarians probably won`t be happy with the diet. I cater to lots of herbivores and they all have hooves or paws. The accommodation is a spare room in the house. The house is a late 1800s villa in need of replacement, but it keeps the weather out and I find it comfortable. Housework isn't high on my priority ...

Would like an energetic couple or single person to help out with gardening, and housework. We would expect about 4-5 hours help a day in return for free accommodation and meals. Large bedroom and own bathroom. We have animals so, would prefer someone who enjoyed them being around. There are many wonderful places to explore in Hawkes Bay when you are not working. Fantastic cycle ways, tramping trips into the native bush areas, beaches and wonderful wineries. Prefer you to have your own car to get around and beable to see the region.

Hi! We are a family of five, we live on a lifestyle block in Aongatete, Bay of Plenty. We are looking for a female to come for around 1 month to help us around our property, in our garden, with cooking and general household tasks such as cleaning and also helping with our three beautiful children. We have a large room available with a queen bed (as well as spare mattresses). Kia Ora travellers! I live alone with my dog, Nala, in a beautiful big and warm house on a 27 acre life style block with native bush and a little creek. I have an organic vegetable garden and orchard growing fresh vegetables, hazelnuts, walnuts and chestnuts. You can also enjoy great views of the Banks Peninsula from here, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s only 1 hour away from Christchurch city and 30 mins from Akaroa, a lovely seaside town with a rich French heritage. I used to be a Tour Guide for overseas tourists, so I know every nook and cranny of the Great Aotearoa. I would be happy to share with you our culture, history and many stories. I also used to host overseas backpackers when living in Christchurch and I always enjoy having company and learning about cultural differences. There is plenty to do to keep busy and be creative - planting trees, pruning, cleaning up bonfires, getting stuck into the big garden. Work hours are flexible and will be max 4 hours ...

I am a single mum with half-time care of my engaging and fun 12-year-old daughter plus full-time care of our delightful little dog. I'm looking looking for someone (or a couple) to join us from the 16th of February for 6-8 weeks (or longer). The assistance needed is housekeeping tasks (dishes, laundry, gardening etc) that keep a home running smoothly while I work full time, plus some after school days looking after my daughter and/or driving her when required. Abigail is a lovely girl (& no, it’s not just us who think so!) She is creative, has a super imagination, loves reading, board and card games, adventures, the trampoline... she's easy to have fun with. She enjoys hanging out with our international helpers and has created many firm friendships; most stay in regular contact with us. The household tasks are general housekeeping, gardening and occasional assistance with meal preparation. Sometimes you are required to assist with getting Abigail to and from school or activities, s...

End February = one position. Bedrooms = two private double, and single private shepherd hut Hopefully you'll be happy to stay for a while (minimum one month), and really get to know what we are doing here... On my five-acre lifestyle block, I have a small collection of animals, including: sheep, pigs, deer, llama, alpaca, collie dogs and a few birds (80+ animals, depending on time of year, and babies!). I also have six unusual rental units (yurt, tipi, train carriage, colonial wagon, house truck, cute farmers cottage), and take guests on off-site Llama Trekking tours. You will spend about 25% of your time with the animals and guests; 25% housekeeping; 50% on projects, gardening and maintenance work. - the actual ratios vary depending on the time of year, number of staff, weather, and rental bookings! Animal care = feeding, mucking out cages and paddocks, basic health work eg: grooming, nail clipping. Project & maintenance work = random jobs around the farm, eg: General DIY, fence men...

Kia ora guys, We live in a small west coast beach village about 35-40 minutes from central Auckland called Muriwai Beach. It is one of NZ`s most stunning and wildest beaches. We have a half acre section that always needs little things doing and the house is slowly being worked on as well so experience in building or skilled labour is always cool as well as people who like to work in the gardens and landscape. We have a daughter who is 11 years old who loves playing in the outdoors, tending her veggie garden and meeting people from all over the world. If you like the beach and the wild west coast then I`m sure you will love it out here. I work in the television and film industry while my partner is a a musician. Drop us a line and tell us a bit about yourself and maybe you can come out and share some of the magic that we feel living here. Cheers. Toby, Moana and Manawanui.

Update 1 Feb: We need help for a deep clean of our "old" large house after we have moved out. Also landscaping to set up new garden at new house. Accommodation is in a separate house on the waterfront. Available immediately. Message us for more details. We have a separate little house 2km from our house for Helpers' accommodation in Kerikeri/Bay of Islands. It’s very cosy to live in and on the waterfront. We need help with maintenance of our property (house & garden). This includes gardening, tree-trimming, clean-up, some painting, and a project for a garden pathway incl. a wooden staircase (Carpenters, come on !!! ). Are you interested to be part of our projects? Good command of English or German required. Fishing from our pedal boat, kayaking, swimming and hiking are great as off-work activities here. In 2016 we have moved up north to Kerikeri to a 2+ acres life-style block. Since then we have built a large veggie garden (to enrich our carnivorous diet) and a chicken coop, a tin...

Hi, my name is Marianne. I live on a classic New Zealand "tree quarter acre section" on a north facing (all day sun) hobbit hill, looking down to Oamaru and from my kitchen window or climbing up the jungle hill behind the cottage, you can see the sea and watch the sunrise. A 10 minute stroll down Eden Street gets you either to the CBD or to the shoreline. I am providing three basic meals per day as well as a comfortable and quiet room for your stay and to relax after our daily four hours of working together "out there", somewhere on some befitting project. Five years of my absence have caused damages to house and garden physically and spiritually. In the effort to restore the above, I re-discovered HelpX for finding spirited support for all sorts of quirky and needed manifestations of beautiful visible and touchable things. Despite the incomplete, overgrown outside, with my freshly painted double bed guest room and a completely renovated lounge, I am happy to open my home again for s...

Myself and Sarah(daughter in law) run a three bedroom accomodation located in the beautiful historic area of Kerikeri just up from the Stone Store. We are looking for a couple or single person interested in staying at the lodge and taking care of the general running of things (around 2-4 hours per day) This is very relaxed and mostly entails greeting guests in the afternoons and showing them to their rooms (only when we have bookings), taking bookings as well as some general property maintenance. You will stay in a separate part of the lodge with full kitchen, private room and bathroom. I am generally around the lodge most days but leave in the evenings as I live with my partner out of Kerikeri. Our preference is for single independent persons or couples, but open to most combinations to stay in my end of the lodge. My son Harry and partner Sarah (early 30’s) and their two kids Micah (3yr) and Sage (15mo) live next door so there would be some involvement with them and doing some t...

Hi we need help from around end February for the rest of the summer season and also will need help in the winter 2025 season too. Looking for helpers wanting to stay 4 weeks or longer but we will consider shorter stays so do get in touch! We are a family of 4 -myself and my hubby and our two young daughters. We need daily help with housekeeping, cleaning and some gardening (with me or my hubby so no gardening experience needed). Generally after a girl helper as our kids are more comfortable with that. Someone who is able to muck in with whatever we need and likes cleaning!! Only single helpers please we cannot take more than one person. We offer accommodation in our modern German caravan, with heating, wifi, meals (brekkie lunch items in caravan) and dinner is whatever we have as a family that evening. So sorry we generally can’t cater for special dietary or food requirements. The caravan has a microwave toaster kettle but you can’t cook in it. The picture is not the exact carav...

Hi Helpers, We have availability right now (February) on our lifestyle block, 18km from Wanaka where we grow trees, vegetables and are building a restaurant too! We are offering a retro caravan for sleeping with a super comfortable double bed and camp ground facilities you need to self cater and enjoy some rural tranquility. We are located in the Upper Clutha basin surrounded by mountains and with clear water beautiful lakes and rivers. There is an abundance of bike trails, walks and other Central Otago attractions. The river is close by for a swim or to explore the many tracks and swimming holes. The camp ground has very good facilities - a commercial kitchen (a catering truck) which makes cooking fun, a powerful shower, composting toilet plus the shed has lots of refrigeration and a modern washing machine. The type of help we are looking for is for an average of 2 hours per day. Watering trees, tending the plant nursery, weed-eating and outdoor creative projects yet to be determi...

Welcome! My name is Robert I am hoping to find helpers to share and help create my home and garden. I live in an old home in a quiet setting near the ocean, 7km to Waipu Centre, which is 140km north of Auckland and 40km south of Whangarei. I am very open-minded and respect all other diverse cultures and ways of life. A huge backyard, with rural views, and lots of native bird life. 6 acres... Lots of space. I enjoy the natural surroundings and "relish" in the garden. Have a small vege patch and an abundance of fruit trees so the kitchen can be a little chaotic as fruit ripens. My best mate is Charlie (my dog). I may not always have time to show you around, as I am usually busy working but you will enjoy the area`s natural beauty anyways. There are wonderful beaches nearby ... I can sometimes give you a lift to town or the beach. The home is idyllically secluded so the space is as free as you want it to be. Nearby ... swimming, surfing, bushwalking, tramping, cycling, hitchhik...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to routburn and greenstone tracks.you will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. ,a bit isolated, not for the precious,no trophy hunters,no bum, guts or shoulder shooters.please don`t apply unless you intend to come.minimum stay two weeks, one person only.we do not get involved with internships or visa applications.vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. as I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers ! We live on a two acre native tree block at Manapouri which we are constantly redeveloping so along with a few specific projects going on from time to time there is regular firewood cutting / stacking, landscaping, vegetable gardening, etc. Our work is mostly outdoors. We also have a quaint 1930s cottage on site which we are renovating and would always welcome a builder to help with some structural work etc. We always try to vary the work to keep it interesting. Check out the reviews for comments on our hospitality, food etc - we have made many friends during our involvement with Helpx and look forward to making many more. Lake Manapouri, known as the most beautiful lake in NZ, is a 5 minute walk away. The Waiau River which drains the lake and is the departure point for the lake cruises, is literally across our road boundary. Te Anau is a 15 minute drive and Milford Sound is only 2 hours. Manapouri is also the gateway to the beautiful Doubtful Sound. For food and accommodation, th...

We...

I am looking for help on my lifestyle block, general house work, doing the dishes etc. The work can vary from helping me with cars, building, fencing etc, so you will learn some different skills while helping. No need to have any experience as l will teach you what you need to know, you just need to have a good attitude and a willingness to help and learn. I have a14yo daughter ( so l prefer to have female helpers) who l have every 2nd weekend and half the holidays, she loves art and crafts etc. My place is about as kiwi culture as you can get, l am honest and a straight talker (no bs). In return you will enjoy a great time, have a lovely warm bed, food, etc. I also really enjoy showing people around the Waikato and love hiking, so if that's you then che...

We have really enjoyed getting to know our visitors so far and we are particularly keen to host French visitors as we would like to live in France in the near future. My husband (Jay, 37) is self employed and I (Anna, 36) stay at home with our children Kenya 6, Rosie 4 and Jet 2 years old. We have a large room available with a queen bed (as well as spare mattresses). The room is attached to the house but a separate space from the rest of the house and it has its own bathroom and entry (please see pics of the room and bathroom). You would eat with our family and are welcome to use our Spa, Sauna and Ice Bath! We are happy to include you in our daily life and show you some local waterfalls ...

Our farm has a 2000sqm glasshouse that has a variety of strawberries, chillis and peppers that are grown using organic sprays and utilising predators under the IPM programme. We have not been on the farm very long and are learning as we go and we would love to share our experiences with others and learn off them as well. We are willing to open our home and farm to share our wonderful life to the right people that are positive and pro-active. We have 2 labrador dogs, Buddy (Chocolate Lab) Tui (Black Lab) an PJ (an amercian short haired cat) so being an animal lovers is a must. We have both travelled extensively throughout the world and we enjoy learning about other countries cultures and the awesome people in them.

Hi me and Mike have opened our doors to accommodate more helpx, it creates a much more fun experience and keeps the work load lite, we.are looking for some reliable helpers to keep the day to day running of the lodge, The Tongariro is an epic area, with too many legendary treks to list, just google the area. Mike's been to almost 50 countries and I have traveled when I can, we started this place from experience to try make it fun and cheap, we have secret rooms, a great kitchen and lounges with smart tvs upto 90 inch, Unfortunately we can't be there alot, we work elsewhere to keep it going, so you'll be left alone to make your way through 2.5 hours work a day to keep our lodge/Backpackers clean, you must be ok with written instructions, if you can read the information provided it will make your stay more pleasurable. we can't be there often so no food provided by us, but it'll be an awesome experience and fun. Cheers Al
