Our small home and sleep out is located in urban Hokitika on the West Coast of the South Island. There is a lot to explore in this beautiful and lush part of the country. We grow as much food as we can in our garden and small green house. We have a second property nearby that we are slowly working away at in order to make more space for growing food. My partner is really inspired by the work of horticulturalist Charles Dowding and we practice his no dig and organic soil management teachings. My partner and I have a preschooler who is the delight of our days. We prioritize time with her and each only work 2-3 days per week. My partner is a carpenter and has recently finished building a spacious sleepout for our visitors. I am a midwife and work both in our community and at the hospital. Visiting with us looks like sharing delicious meals either at home or at the beach or lake as we enjoy taking meals outside. We will sometimes cook on the beach while my partner surf casts for kahawai ...

We are a family of four living on a lifestyle block in the beautiful Wairarapa, with the entrance to the Tararua Forest park just up the road. There you will find some great tramping, walking, mountain biking and a cool swing bridge across the river and a great swimming hole during summer. On our block we have a small herd of cattle and some sheep along side many birds living in the local landscape. This winter we need help mainly with firewood, gardening, riparian planting and general help for an average of four hours a day in exchange for food and accommodation. The accommodation best suits a couple. We are 15 mins drive from Greytown and Carterton. Non-smokers only please. Please let us know if you have any special food requirements or allergies which might need to be considered during your stay.

Tēnā koutou, We are a French/Algerian/Kiwi family. We moved to the North of the South Island (Te Wai Pounamou) in 2023 and live on a four hectare property where there is lots to be done. Mathew is into agroecology, permaculture and conservation. He has experience running workshops and leading work groups. Rym is interested in Indigenous knowledge, community development and the disruption of the current economic system. We speak French and English at home. You would learn about the NZ rural lifestyle, agroecology and permaculture techniques, food conservation, pest control, and probably lots more. There are a range of tasks to be done, mainly gardening, fencing work, animal care (chickens and sheep) and fire wood cutting/stacking/moving. Possibly some small renovation tasks for those with the right skills. Tasks will depend on the season and what travellers are comfortable doing, as well as what they want to learn. An awesome 2 bedroom settlers cottage, which was built in the 1860s. It ...

Happy to host individuals or couples or can make arrangements if you are travelling as a small group of friends (or a family) - just let me know! I love Wellington...and the south coast is full of nature. Local walking track nearby and 2km down hill to the local beaches (good for surfing - and a beautiful view for walks, running or cycling) and marine reserve (good for swimming/ snorkeling) and the same distance in the other direction to local bars/ shops or 5km to Courtenay place / Cuba street (Wellington CBD) or Airport. Choice of 2 bus stops close by (bus services 23, 29) or a downhill walk to Newtown, Island Bay or Lyall Bay. Happy to share more tips on where to go to see the best of Wellington based on your preferences and interests. It's also a great base for a daytrip to Martinborough if you like wine / visiting wineries...or kapiti island if you like birds. On street parking (free) available if you have a car or campervan. 2 cats live here. Sadly, the chickens have recent...

Hi Folks, We have a variety of hands-on jobs in late April or early May, some wood work, some painting, and odd jobs. So if you are practical and good with your hands and tools please get in touch. Our home is big with five bedrooms, four bathrooms and has a tennis court, swimming pool, sauna, a small cinema, Babyfoot table and a giant pool / snooker table and a lovely river and a great swing bridge too. Jan & Marian, a Dutch couple in their 60sh, opened their (first and still only in NZ) Green-Care-Farm for day visitors living with mild dementia. Both of them are having a nursing background. They offer people living with with mild dementia happy days by using their long learned life skills to feel included and valued and respected. They are part of the Home4All family and together they 'work' in the garden or the workshop or the kitchen or looking after the animals. Therefore their family and carers can have a good time-out-day with peace of mind. We are a registered charity which is currently functioning with the help of a committed team of volunteers and a superb supportive board. They always need help with gardening and maintenance and animal care. If you have special great skills in IT, film making / photography or else we might like to use your skills. HelpX volunteers are not responsible for the support of our day visitors but basically they are there for Jan and Marian to t...

Kia Ora travellers, we are keen to welcome you to our place. If you have only just arrived and are trying to find your way around then we'd be happy to help you or Ii you are just looking for a little taste of normal Kiwi rural life we would love to host you. We are looking for helpers from April. Generally we offer about a week's work but if interested there might be a possibility of a longer stay with some housesitting involved. Meg and I are a young couple (in our sixties), our three daughters have now all left home and are living their own independent lives. We love to have young people around. We will make sure to spend some time with you as we enjoy helping with English, while still leaving you plenty of time to yourselves. Our home is on a lovely quiet rural property with a stunning view of Ohiwa Estuary, less than 10mins from Ohope (in the beautiful Eastern Bay of Plenty) and Whakatane (famous for trips to White Island although due to recent tragic events these trips are...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to routburn and greenstone tracks.you will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. ,a bit isolated, not for the precious,no trophy hunters,no bum, guts or shoulder shooters.please don`t apply unless you intend to come.minimum stay two weeks, one person only.we do not get involved with internships or visa applications.vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. as I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers ! Looking for Helpers right through busy summer and autumn months. Plenty going on during summer, shearing, stock work, fencing, weed control, garden tidying, lawn mowing, lots of tractor driving etc. It would be great to have some strong keen workers to help fix fences and do some building work. Our family of 4 (2 kids - 16 & 18 years old) live on a beautiful sheep and beef farm with large woodland garden and organic vegetable garden. We need help with stock work, general farming tasks, gardening, cooking etc. We're 40 minutes from Nelson, 15 minutes from Motueka. It's an idyllic rural setting with excellent access to rivers, mountains, mountain biking, Abel Tasman & Kahurangi National Parks etc. with easy access to some of the best fly fishing rivers in NZ (and the world!) There's 4-6 hours work per day depending on tasks. Plenty of flexibility to work full days and have plenty of time off to explore. Please be aware you may get hot, wet, muddy, dusty and dirty but rest assured ...

Hi, my name is Marianne. I live on a classic New Zealand "tree quarter acre section" on a north facing (all day sun) hobbit hill, looking down to Oamaru and from my kitchen window or climbing up the jungle hill behind the cottage, you can see the sea and watch the sunrise. A 10 minute stroll down Eden Street gets you either to the CBD or to the shoreline. I am providing three basic meals per day as well as a comfortable and quiet room for your stay and to relax after our daily four hours of working together "out there", somewhere on some befitting project. Five years of my absence have caused damages to house and garden physically and spiritually. In the effort to restore the above, I re-discovered HelpX for finding spirited support for all sorts of quirky and needed manifestations of beautiful visible and touchable things. Despite the incomplete, overgrown outside, with my freshly painted double bed guest room and a completely renovated lounge, I am happy to open my home again for s...

We have a beautiful 6 hectare property in a really awesome valley. We have animals, a stream, lots of things growing. We have a large 3 bedroom house. We have a warm modern caravan for helpers to sleep in and all the other amenities are in the house. We have 3 awesome kids (only two live at home) and a great family vibe. We need help with working the land and making it as productive as we can. We need people who are hard working and take initiative. Prior experience is great but if you are a fast learner and up for a challenge then that is great too. A love of animals is definitely helpful as well. Projects include - gardening, building, organising, helping with animals, help around the house, fencing, tree planting and more. Cheers Regan and Lisa

We're always looking for assistance in property maintenance in the fields and on our private bike park. We also quite often are on the lookout for those who have experience in web content and photo and video editing to help update our websites. Please read!! 😀 We have a peaceful, rural lifestyle block with a number of heritage chickens and a cat and dog. Our residence is a scenic 20-minute drive out of Nelson. For this reason, having your own transport is ideal (but not a deal breaker!). We offer rooms and/or studio accommodation and food / meals to hard-working folks happy to help out with various projects around the property, including gardening, landscaping, building and improving our mountain bike and jump track, mowing, weed whacking, eliminating weeds, some house cleaning, cutting fire wood, and other non-technical chores. Kia Ora, We live in the beautiful tukituki valley in the Hawkes Bay, midway between Hastings at Napier. We are close to the coastal communities of Haumoana and Te Awanga, with popular surf beaches. The area has several wineries and is a fruit growing area. Napier is the art deco city of New Zealand rebuilt after the devastating 1931 earthquake. We have easy access to the Hawkes Bay bike trails which give 200k of flat cycleway along flat pathways. Paul and I (Liz) live on a lifestyle block of 15 acres with an extensive shrubby garden and native planting. We have 6 cows and a few chickens. There is usually plenty of jobs to be done; firewood chopping, tree pruning, gardening. We spend a lot of time in our garden, growing fruit and vegetables. We usually would be working alongside. According to the time of year we can talk about what we would need help with and we would be fairly flexible on hours doing variable amounts per day according to your plans. We are looking for one or two volunteers who are physically fit, adaptable, willing to learn new things, and enthusiastic to spend a lot of time outdoors! Autumn is a busy time on the farm! Especially for planting trees. This is an opportunity to experience life on a sheep and cattle farm. Quiet, old wooden house in central Dunedin. Excellent location for local shops, cafes, and public transport, with the city center a 20-minute walk down the hill. House is up off the road surrounded by trees, very private. Beautiful well-established garden with lots of native plants (trees, bushes, ferns, etc.), local birdlife, and a large deck that's sunny most of the day. Up high on the hill with views out over the sea and harbour; lovely sunsets until well into the evening. Perfect for exploring Dunedin if you want a peaceful and conveniently located stay. Bilingual household with travelling and sailing experience (some knowledge of multiple languages). Looking for someone to do outside work around the house--weeding in the garden/preparing for winter, as well as exterior house/window cleaning, sanding/painting on a fence rail. Guest bedroom available so you have your own space.

I am looking for someone, can be a couple or 2 people for 2 days on the 30th of April. Sorry but I don't need any other dates at the moment but will update this listing if that changes. We offer accommodation in exchange for 3 hours of work per person per day. We don't provide meals but you can use our kitchen. Work includes cleaning, gardening, light maintenance, and any other jobs we agree upon. You must be willing to work outside in most weather. Your accommodation is your own room with 2 single beds and there is a sitting area outside of the room. There is a bathroom on the same floor but you do have to use the shower in the hosts ensuite bathroom. It is helpful to have a car as we are not within walking distance to the supermarket but I have had a lot of HelpX without a car. They either take the bus (we are an 8 minute walk from the Amisfield stop), hitch-hike or catch a ride with me when I am going to the store, town, etc. PLEASE PLEASE email from the helpx site bef...

Hi everyone! We have a beautiful property a short walk/drive away from a gorgeous New Zealand beach. We live 45 minutes from Hamilton and 20-25 minutes from Raglan. Our area is very remote - we have some neighbours but there are no shops here or public transport, just farmland. So if you enjoy being away from cities and people then this is the place for you! Our property suits people who enjoy the outdoors and surfing, hiking, walking, animals, solitude. There is a beautiful mountain right by our house for hiking, great surfing and fishing in the area, and Raglan (a little over 20 minutes away) which is a vibrant and energetic little beach town with world famous surf. This exchange is for accommodation only. We have a cabin with a big bed and beautiful views of the farmland and mountain and sea. There is a kitchenette for you to keep and cook your own food. The bathroom is about 20 metres away from the cabin and it is a composting toilet with shower that does the job but is gravity-f...

A beach front section. Kayaking, body boarding, swimming and fishing available for guests. Accomodation and meals provided in exchange for four hours work a day. Gardening, housework, general household maintenance and painting could be requested. I can collect people from the end of the Taupo Bay road or Mangonui. My preference is for people to stay a week . Taupo Bay is quite a small community and no public transport is available so it is often easier to have your own transport. Certainly not essential as arrangements can be made for collection and support to get to your next destination. Many thanks for looking. Fran

We have a basic but lovely country home located by the Rangitikei River. We are about 25 minutes from the nearest shop in Hunterville as well as our local pub which is located about 10 minutes away. My husband and I have a 2 year old son Joseph and a new baby Makayla born September 2024. We do our best to live off the meat that we hunt and the vegetables we grow. I'm looking for someone to help out with our veggie garden and with general work around the house or with projects that I might be doing at the time of your stay. Our roof is currently in need of some repairs so if you are someone that is interested or has experience in roof repairs then you would be a great fit however if this job wouldn't suit you then there's plenty of other chores to do. You'd be looking at around 4 hours of help per day in exchange for food and accommodation. We live on my husband's parents Deer, Sheep and Beef farm. We have 2 pet dogs and a few working dogs as well as some very friendly pet sheep. Ch...

Hi team, looking for helpers from mid May for 2-3 weeks. We are looking for one or two volunteers who are physically fit, adaptable, willing to learn new things, and enthusiastic to spend a lot of time outdoors! Autumn is a busy time on the farm! Especially for planting trees. This is an opportunity to experience life on a sheep and cattle farm. Volunteers depending on season can help with different farm activities such as, fencing, building, working with sheep and cattle in the yards, pruning/planting trees on the farm, gardening, help with daily chores around the home.

Ch...

We’re a busy family based in Te Puna, just 7 minutes from the nearest shops and 20 minutes from Tauranga city centre. Our property is home to a plant nursery, a cattery, and a small landscaping business, so there’s always plenty to do. We offer a large downstairs room with a private shower and toilet, queen bed, TV, drawers, and dining table. You’ll also have access to our upstairs kitchen and living spaces. We’re looking for practical, motivated helpers who can work hard, show initiative, and adapt to a range of tasks without needing constant supervision. Jobs may include helping in the cattery, working in the plant nursery, weeding, cleaning, painting, gardening, animal care, and general property maintenance. In exchange for 4-5 hours of productive help per day, 5 days a week, we provide accommodation and meals. We prefer couples who are happy to get involved, contribute positively, and fit in well with our family and work environment. If you’re keen to learn, adaptable, and want...
