Hi, my name is Marianne. I live on a classic New Zealand "tree quarter acre section" on a north facing (all day sun) hobbit hill, looking down to Oamaru and from my kitchen window or climbing up the jungle hill behind the cottage, you can see the sea and watch the sunrise. A 10 minute stroll down Eden Street gets you either to the CBD or to the shoreline. After five years of absence house and gardens have been badly damaged physically and spiritually. In the effort to restore the above, I re-discovered HelpX for finding spirited support for all sorts of quirky manifestations of visible and touchable things. In my role as your host, I am fully committed to provide three basic meals per day, to be fully there when our agreed upon four hours of work start and to offer you some nice and clean room to stay. With my double bed guest room created to a comfortable Kiwi standard and a renovated lounge fit for more than two friends, a family or a yoga space, I am happy to open my home again for...

Would like an energetic couple or single person to help out with gardening, and housework. We would expect about 4-5 hours help a day in return for free accommodation and meals. Large bedroom and own bathroom. We have animals so, would prefer someone who enjoyed them being around. There are many wonderful places to explore in Hawkes Bay when you are not working. Fantastic cycle ways, tramping trips into the native bush areas, beaches and wonderful wineries. Must have your own car to get around..

Welcome to Privet Prairie! We live with our 3 young children on a farm just before Ngunguru on the famous Tutukaka Coast. Our property is 42 hectares filled with native bush, waterfalls, recent pine and manuka plantings, streams and pastures. There is lots to explore on our property and the surround coastlines. We have some cows, chicken and pigs on the wee plot, along with countless native birds. There is a free standing cottage on the property which is currently being tenanted, and currently a tiny house is being built on leased land in a corner of our property. Attached to the house is a guest bedroom and bathroom which gives you privacy and space. In exchange for meals and board, we would appreciate help on the farm with gardening, landscaping, weeding, planting natives and other projects we have on the farm. We can either do 4 hours work a day, or combine sessions, to have days off. Any experience with farming and horticulture would be appreciated but is not required. We have ...

We like help in our very large and peaceful hillside garden. The work is mainly weeding. Presently we are working on digging/making a garden path, so if you have experience with a spade we would be pleased. We also want firewood chopped and moved, and mulch carried uphill and placed on gardens. People who are fit, happy and able to be independent with their spare time day and evenings are most welcome. Please note we are quiet people. We eat dinner around 6pm and don't socialise after 7.30pm or late into the evening as we work during the day. Our kitchen is not available for use after 7.30pm . We request non smoking guests. We like people to do 4 hours work a day or negotiate more hours with more time off. Guests have a separate bathroom. We provide food and evening dinner on work days ( so guests to go out for evening dinner on a non work day) and accommodation to reliable helpers and friendly people.Get in touch if our work is within your skill range and if you think we might be...

Hi=) We are a fun, friendly household in the sunny Bay of Plenty! I'm a Drama & English teacher and Blair is an electrician. My husband and I have 2 fun, adventurous girls, we also have a puppy and cat. We enjoy biking, baking, board games and picnics at the beach, amongst other things. We would love to host people who are honest, friendly, independent, hard-workers and are interested in meeting new people and enjoying what Tauranga has to offer. In exchange for 4 hours work per day, you will receive free accomodation, meals and wifi. Work includes domestic-type chores; mainly cleaning, cooking and possibly baby-sitting - helps if you like children and animals. We have a cat and puppy. It is definitely easier if you have a car, although buses are available from here. We had a homestay from China for a year who found his way round on the buses fine but it does take a while. Happy for any amount of time e.g.:1-2 days or weeks stay but prefer an extended period. Look forward to meetin...

We are looking for a couple to stay from 13 May. We have a quirky upcycled tiny home to stay in which has awesome rural views on a 5 acre section. It also has a compost loo and solar shower. Very cool place to stay. You will be helping a collective of upcycling creative tutors prepare materials for classes that we teach around the city. We have 2 work locations - Westgate Drive and Chamberlain Rd. You will also have access to a car if you are over 25 and have an international license. Under 25's will need to have their own transport. The work is ideal for a couple who are interested in crafting, woodworking or sewing in our community. You will be working with a lot of upcycling creatives. The section where you will be staying is rural and there may be gardening duties. The work here will be prepping wood and fabrics for classes to teach people how to sew or make wooden items. The work will be around tackling weeds, weed eating around trees and veggie gardens. We are flexib...

Hi everyone! We have a beautiful property a short walk away from a world famous surf beach (google Ruapuke beach). We live 45 minutes from Hamilton and 20-25 minutes from Raglan. Our area is very remote - we have some neighbours but there are no shops here or public transport, just farmland. So if you enjoy being away from cities and people then this is the place for you! Our property suits people who enjoy the outdoors and surfing, hiking, walking, animals, solitude. There is a beautiful mountain right by our house for hiking, great surfing and fishing in the area, and Raglan which a little over 20 minutes away is a vibrant and energetic little beach town. This exchange is for accommodation only. We have a cabin with a big bed and beautiful views of the farmland and mountain and sea. There is a kitchenette for you to keep and cook your own food. The bathroom is about 20 metres away from the cabin and it is a composting toilet with shower that does the job but is gravity-fed so the p...

We, Matthias and Johanna, came from Germany as backpackers in the 1980s, and met here in NZ, so our home language is German. We are now a family with 8 children - 3 still living at home (1 of them home-schooling, 2 working). Our oldest son with his wife and 4 young boys have moved back onto our property, - they are now living in our cottage. Our lifestyle block is home to a gaggle of geese, a flock of domestic ducks, around 40 chicken, 8 sheep and a few goat bucks, - and of course many wild birds, rabbits and the tiny creatures of fields, woods and duck-pond. An old apple, apricot and peach orchard and a young walnut grove are also part of our little paradise. Amazingly, though situated just off SH1, our place affords a cosy sense of privacy, as it nestles behind an old pine-tree shelter belt and is lined with a shelter belt of poplar trees along the rest of its border. The township of Amberley is 5 min away by car or 20 min by bicycle, where you can do all essential shopping, go to t...

We need help with stock work, general farming tasks, gardening, cooking etc. We're 40 minutes from Nelson, 15 minutes from Motueka. It's an idyllic rural setting with excellent access to rivers, mountains, mountain biking, Abel Tasman & Kahurangi National Parks etc. with easy access to some of the best fly fishing rivers in NZ (and the world!) There's 4-6 hours work per day depending on tasks. Plenty of flexibility to work full days and have plenty of time off to explore. Please be aware you may get hot, wet, muddy, dusty and dirty but rest assured ...

***Looking for a roofer or someone who has experience with fixing roofs. It's a single storey flat roof*** We running an automotive country workshop where we fix and service cars, 4WDs, trailers, tractors and all sorts of machinery. In our spare time we look after our little farm, some sheep, some cattle and rabbits. And we are always in need of a couple of helpful hands to support us. And we love to get to know different cultures and people. We grow our own meat, fruit and vegetables. Gustav also brews his own beer and makes wine and cider. A mature, non-smoking, self-organized person, preferable not a vegetarian, to give us a hand with house and land, would fit best into our lifestyle. You will have to join into our daily routines: breakfast is at around 7.30 am and then we feed all the animals, especially the hungry dog and work starts at 8.30am. We need to get everyone organized before customers arrive in the workshop. We expect about 4 hours work per day and we offer a nice...

Hi we need someone from mid Sept 2024 onwards - sorry we do not need any helpers before this date! We are a family of 4 - myself and my hubby and our two young daughters. We need daily help with housekeeping, cleaning and some gardening (with me or my hubby so no gardening experience needed). Generally after a girl helper as our kids are more comfortable with that. Someone who is able to muck in with whatever we need and likes cleaning!! We offer accommodation in our modern German caravan, with heating, wifi, meals (brekkie lunch items in caravan) and dinner is whatever we have as a family that evening. So sorry we generally can’t cater for special food requirements. The caravan has a microwave toaster kettle but you can’t cook in it. The picture is not the exact caravan but the type we have. This is in exchange for 4 hours help daily. Sometimes less depending on the day or your circumstances and usually always mornings. Bathroom and shower and toilet is in the main house. We...

Kia ora! Looking to have help from the middle of June. The home is a large Oamaru stone villa where my 18yr old son and 22yr old son and our tabby cat live. Our work does take us away from home from time to time and we need a bit of help to maintain the existing gardens, and to redevelop the pool area and vegetable gardens. We run a food truck (the yellow pickle) from our gardens, have small events occasionally and sometimes run garden tours. We have around 2 acres of garden - mainly flowers, hedges and mature trees with a pond which plays host to numerous fish and attracts numerous dragonflies, I hear a frog occasionally but haven't found it yet! The gardens are very tranquil. Happy to give days off around hiking etc. Ideally, you'll have a bit of garden knowledge, but most importantly you'll be fit, have initiative and a willingness to muck in and help outdoors. The majority of work will be weeding, pruning, trimming. I expect 4 hours of productive work each day in exchange ...

We are a young couple who have made the leap from the UK to NZ and then from the city to the country. We have travelled a lot before settling in NZ and love to meet new people. We have a beautiful home in the countryside but also close to the beach. Perfect if you like animals and being in the outdoors and love the sea. We love to paddleboard in the Ngunguru estuary and walk our dog along the many trails and beaches nearby. We are about 20mins out from town so having a car would be a bonus unless you are happy to relax at home while we are at work. The stunning Tutukaka coastline is also 30 mins drive and is a must see for any traveller. Another must see destination in NZ, the Bay of Islands is an hour away. We were new to lifestyle blockering and are still learning as we go. We have a 4 yr old called Alfie and a 2 yr old called Charlotte as well as the dog (Pip), Chickens, Ducks, sheep lambs and cows. This means there is enough of a range of jobs to suit most peoples preference. F...

It's a single storey flat roof*** We running an automotive country workshop where we fix and service cars, 4WDs, trailers, tractors and all sorts of machinery. We...

Kia Ora travellers. My name is Jo and I live on a lovely 3 acre property with my 17 year old son Wyeth, two wee dogs Storm and Bean, a cat named Bob and two horses Coco and Cameo. I run JoY Gardening Services. Looking for singles or couples (friends travelling together fine) April onward. I'd love some help with several things. Mainly gardening, out side farm stuff and/or a bit of cleaning. (I’m happy to clean if you prefer outside stuff) We are close to town, you have a quiet rural aspect, two lovely room options and are made to feel welcome in our home. The house is spacious so you have plenty of opportunity to get away for time to yourself. We are social but not too much. You will get the opportunity to meet new, fun, friendly people as well. There is an E Mountain bike to cruise around on if you so wish. Otaki is a small town 40 minutes north of Wellington on the new express way. There is a new cycle bridle way that takes you for miles!!! It has a lovely beach and bu...

Hi there 🙂 We are, Deb and Mark, Noah (21yrs) and 14 year old Grace. We also have another young adult son (Caleb 23yrs) who no longer lives here, but pops in regularly. We live on 20 acres of land with cows, sheep, chickens, a rabbit, a budgie, two cats (Squeak and Sophie) Wilson the dog and three horses called Kalia, Frosty, and Jed. Accommodation is in your own warm and cosy cabin with toilet (just a few metres from the house) Lots of lovely walks nearby. We live on a beautiful sheep and beef farm between Greta Valley and Cheviot. We live on the coast at Napenape beach a beautiful beach for photography, walking, surf casting and diving. We are only a few kilometres away from the popular surf/swimming beach called Gore Bay. We are also very close to the Hurunui River which is well known for its trout and salmon fishing as well as kayaking. There are plenty of walking tracks near our farm. We have a small feijoa orchard and a large vegetable garden. We try hard to live off our land and love to entertain with friends. We have had over 40 different sets of helpers and really enjoyed making new friends and sharing some of our kiwi culture with them. we are very flexible with jobs and try to match the right job with the right person. We love living on a farm and are keen to share our skills with those interested in trying some new things. We are flexible with the hours worked and the jobs done. All meals will be included.
